Purchased this helmet for my son. Received and it wasn’t a MIPS helmet. They sell helmets with and without MIPS technology, but both are listed as MIPS on their website. The MIPS helmets are marked on the box and helmet with a small yellow circle. I knew what to look for, but others may not. Check your helmet if purchased at Dicks. A dangerous mistake.

I ended up sticking with the allure over this helmet based on looks and the fuzzy warm ear covers. The altus and Vida have the inner net lining that prevents the plastic plugs from ripping my hair out... but the design is heavier and bulkier than the allure/maze. The boa on the Altus is great for sizing accuracy if that's your goal. My head is 55cm but I still wear altus in a large to accommodate a beanie. With the boa I can tighten it up all the way and go without the beanie when it's warmer. I loved so many things about the Altus but ultimately I preferred the allures smaller look and warmer ear covers

Really nice helmet! Very light and comfortable but it can run a little narrow so maybe size up or avoid it if you have a wider/round head. Also, the earmuffs are an absolute pain to remove it took me way too long to figure it out. But in terms of functionality it works very well and I'm happy with it because it fits my head well!

I've only worn the helmet on one trip, but the helmet is very comfortable and warm.Pros:- Comfortable- Warm- Good ventilationCons:- A little too narrowOverall, a very good helmet. Not recommended for people with wider heads. Consider sizing up if you are in between sizes.
After 10 years of solid service from my previous Smith helmet, it was certainly time for a new one. Shopped during the cyber monday sales, and decided to go with a color pop with the matte rose. This helmet is way lighter than my previous Smith, thus more comfortable. Got the Unigear bomber wireless headphones and they fit perfectly. And of course they pair wonderfully with my new Smith OTG goggles. Super happy with the purchase!
Excellent helmet for the price. Fits comfortably. I typically wear AirPod pros when I snowboard and I can wear these with the helmet without my ears hurting afterwards. Wish the chin strap had a little more padding, but it's not bothersome enough to make a big difference for me. Very happy with this purchase.
Great helmet that looks like it can absorb an impact (haven't tested that yet luckily). I haven't had a chance to wear this much yet, but out of the box it is quite snug for the size. It is also quite warm. I wish the insulation was a little less so I could easily wear this while skinning uphill without sweating. Maybe as it breaks in it will loosen up a bit and lose its insulation properties. Even when it is snug it is still comfy.
After using this helmet for just over one season I noticed something digging into my right ear. Upon investigating I found the end of the adjustment mechanism had pulled out of the anchor point in the helmet. I put it back in but it will not stay in place. Not a good design. My old helmet is over 20 years old and is still serviceable. I just thought I would update and maybe be more safe and comfortable. ???
I have a consistently small woman's head and went with a size Medium. A Small in most Smith and Giro helmets that have MIPS are too snug and risk headaches/pressure. Someone else mentioned that this helmet fits oval shaped heads better and I think they're right. It feels slightly bulky but fits Oakley Flight Tracker goggles better than my Giro Neo.
After many years of rental helms, I finally pulled the trigger to get one of my very own. I put a lot of research into this decision, and the Smith Altus was definitely the best fit (hah!).Seriously, though, this helmet fits perfectly, doesn't move, breathes well and keeps my melon safe. It's the best!
