I already have purchased the Smith Vantage from Glisshop but when this almost identical helmet came up at a great price it gave me the opportunity to have a helmet I could leave in resort and one for travel to other resorts. Both are lightweight, fit well and comfortable, with great safety features. Also they both offer high levels of ventilation which is a must for me, these are the first helmets I've owned that I haven't wanted to tear off my head at every possible moment! The air channels in the brow really help improve ventilation through my Smith I/O Mag XL goggles which so far have had virtually no misting.

I’m writing this review as a retire this helmet after two 50+ day seasons and some gnarly smashes. Top notch in every aspect…fit, feel, warm when the vents are closed and cool when they’re open and the ear pieces removed. Works well with airpods and the goggle strap is very easy to use with gloves or mitts on. The helmet still works fine, its just seen too many impacts and im replacing it with another

Very comfortable, lightweight and not ridiculously expensive. The adjustment behind the head works well and is easy to change. The chinstrap is a little bulky and hard to adjust but it doesn't need to be adjusted too often. This helmet still has the ability to take the ear covers off which is really helpful on warm spring days. The vents are easy to open/close and the visor shape fits well with my Smith Vice goggles

This is a great helmet and overall I am very satisfied. It is a perfect fit and the liner will keep you warm. The air vents are nice for warmer days. The mips is a nice piece of mind to have too since most ski crashes will have some tumbling. Combined with my smith goggles I have a perfect fit. My issue with this helmet is the top of my ears rub on something, I am thinking it is the plastic mips harness. It isn’t bad but after a long day it starts to irritate a little. Problem is completely solved by putting a layer over my ears like a thin buff which I do anyway.
Love this helmet- fits very comfortably and my head is neither too hot nor too cold and I've skied in 0F, icy rain, and blizzard conditions. My friend crashed into me while riding and I took a very hard hit to the head - helmet did it's job and I walked away just fine. I could feel and hear the back of the helmet taking the impact exactly how it's supposed to.I feel extremely safe wearing this helmet.
I decided it was time to upgrade helmets this season and wanted an audio compatible one. This is my first Smith helmet and first audio compatible helmet, so I wanted to used it for several ski days, in a variety of conditions before my review. Overall, it is a great helmet, in a variety of conditions, from cold mid-winter to warmer spring skiing. The one drawback I noticed is the ear flaps let a fair amount of air by versus my old helmet, which led to cold ears during colder and windier ski days. On the other hand, the adjustable vents were great during warmer ski days to keep from overheating. I wear a 7-1/2 fitted baseball cap, and the Large size fits well either with nothing else on, or with a balaclava on the colder days.As for the audio, now that I figured out ... MoreI decided it was time to upgrade helmets this season and wanted an audio compatible one. I wear a 7-1/2 fitted baseball cap, and the Large size fits well either with nothing else on, or with a balaclava on the colder days.As for the audio, now that I figured out how it works I love the ability to have background music without having ear buds in my ears that hinder my ability to hear other skiers or snow equipment. Since this was my first audio helmet, I did not know that there were removable foam pads in each ear flap that need to be removed so your music chips fit better. On my first ski day, I unzipped the access pocket and put the chips in each ear flap, but left the pads in (totally my fault but not explained in the very brief instruction manual that came with the helmet). Of course the sound was very muffled and the ear flaps were uncomfortable after a couple hours of skiing with the extra bulk. When I got home, a buddy explained the removable pads (he has a Smith helmet) to me. Once I removed them, which was very easy, sound is great at low volume, and the helmet is all-day comfortable as expected. I mention this issue for anyone new to Smith audio compatible helmets, as I was, since it makes a huge difference but is not explained in the instructions. It seems intuitive now, but as a new helmet owner I was hesitant to start pulling stuff out of the flaps if it wasn't supposed to come out.All together I put roughly a dozen days on the new helmet this season, and would definitely purchase it again for its comfort and high quality safety features.
Seemed like a great helmet with the features I'd want, but once received it just didn't fit (weird pressure on the side). I'm near the upper end of the size range of large and it seemed a little small and wouldn't have had room for a balaclava, so maybe size up if you're right at the upper end of a size. I tried the XL later and it was ok, but still not great.Oddly, I didn't feel this Smith helmet worked great with my couple year old Smith goggles (top edge of goggles didn't line up great with the helmet). That was probably the biggest disappointment. Ended up returning and buying a Giro (not saying it's a better helmet, but it is interesting how it fit so differently.)In short, definitely try on with goggles before committing to this helmet (or any).
The Smith helmets are well built light weight and stylish. I have given two I owned before as gifts and wanted to get another one with speaker pockets in the ear flaps as the previous vantage models had however after checking with the local offerings I became aware that this was no longer a feature in that model and got the new level model. The level has a rubber visor which will hold goggles from slipping over the back when they are lifted but sadly they too have been left without the viper speaker pockets in the ear flaps. I now must cut the material and make a place to hold the speakers.Very sorry to see this reversal in design.
Fits well, similar to the older Smith Vantage helmet. Adjustment system in the back similar to the Boa system, though only tightens on the back and sides (not the front). The back adjustment does not move up and down.Ear pads feel slightly farther back than the Vantage but still very warm. If the chin strap is not tight enough, wind can enter through the front and cause a slightly annoying whistling sound.Works well with the Frontier goggles with minimal movement. Anti-fogging integration works well.
bad: i've worn a size L my entire life in smith. for some reason this helmet runs super small and gives me a massive headache. so SIZE UP. it's also a good bit heavier feeling than my previous variance.the great: the helmet is super tech heavy. the venting is great, and the thing just *feels* so much more solid and secure than any helmet i've ever worn. i hope to never test it out in an accident, but if i do, i feel good about how it will treat me.
