Almost perfect but amazing all around.

I purchased the Sun Black lens option of this product. I wore them on a blue bird spring day at Monarch Mountain. It was 41°f and the snow was shiny and reflective in many places. These goggles were absolutely phenomenal, they were perfect for direct sun and bright snow, I never had trouble seeing the fall line or observing future obstacles. I had actually worn them during a wind storm (walking my dog for several blocks) a few days prior to hitting the mountain, and even in cloudy/overcast skies it was phenomenal. I just wish it had a bit more peripheral view.

A cool cheaper alternative to the more expensive Smith Mag Squad and Squad XL models while still having the stylish cylindrical lenses and a semi-rimless design. Additionally, it has a range of interchangeable lenses for great VTL and comfortable wear all season. Overall, it is a comfortable and nice fit on the face it is noticeably smaller than other Smith Googles.#sweepstakes

Great solution at a great price point

For me, getting your eyewear dialed makes a huge difference when recreating and the Squad goggles and suite of replacement lenses make it super easy to do so.My solution was to buy squads and chose the lens that best fits your 'regular' conditions--usually mixed/mid light. Next, choose your preferred lenses for two other light scenarios (usually low-light/cloudy and sunny/bluebird and store them in a lens case. Based on conditions, swap lenses to match conditions.Swapping out lenses gets easier the more times you do it.

Not a guide, but....

So far the Squad goggles have performed well. I recently skied during a day with fog and heavy powder and was required to work hard to get off-piste freshies. The goggles got a little steamed up, but not to where my vision was impaired. They have a great field of view, and look badass with my Smith Mission helmet! Not recommended for over-the-glasses though.

Overpriced
21 February 2023

I bought into the smith hype and got a them for a deal on black friday. They are pretty cool, I got the white vapor color way but be warned the headband gets stained easily. After the first day I saw some noticeable smudges that did not clean off with dish soap and water. My biggest issue with the goggles was its false advertised product details, the goggles do fog up once in a while and its more branding than quality. I would stick to anons as the better pair because after almost a whole season with the smiths, I now realize I would have got the same results with a pair of goggles from amazon. Once you get a pair you will realize how overpriced they are. They are pretty steezy tho lol

Pair #6. A workhorse of a goggle
14 November 2023

Old man with Fifty-100 day seasons and three decades in Whistler's swilly, murky and Dank Fog. Did i say fog? I meant floundering in the heart of a cumulus cloud that looks so white and fluffy from a distance. In Smiths: Lots o' Smiths; from before the Fuse and Stance to Squad models. And almost exclusively in Blue Sensor Mirror lenses. Look at Fog and see Clouds ? Well; sorta. The other point to make is that Sphericals scratch more easily than Cylindrical lenses. My thumb squeegee works better on a flat lens better as well.

Review of Smith Squad Snowboard/Ski Goggles
16 February 2024

Ours came what appears like slightly damaged. Lense edge on one side was fought like it has been scraped (maybe against a helmet from a display model?). The nose fitting wasn’t comfortable and there were gaps between the lense and the foam which seems cheap and poorly made. Possibly faulty and I understand a warranty claim was made. Either so quality control somewhere was missed. Replaced with Oakley Flight Decks which are way more comfy and the lense fitting round the foam and goggles it much tighter (no visual gaps you can see through). For the retail price I’d expect much better quality. Gone back to Oakley.

Seal on lense not very waterproof
5 December 2023

Fit was great, extra clear lense of the same type was handy. Had an issue with the seal on the lense. Early days here on our mountain are fairly warm, had a wet heavy snowfall that got everyones gloves soaking wet. I had just bought the Squad goggles, I don't swap out my lense often enough to warrant the MAG. In any case, I lifted my goggles to work on some straps for a tobaggan that was under the top chair shed. It was not raining on my head, there wasn't water pouring down on me, but somehow, just the water on the top of my helmet was enough to migrate through the seal inbetween the double lense, so I had a pool of water waiting for me when I brought my goggles back down, not super helpful. I hung up the lense when i got home so that gravity could get rid of the ... MoreFit was great, extra clear lense of the same type was handy. Had an issue with the seal on the lense. I hung up the lense when i got home so that gravity could get rid of the excess water, then I stuck them in some silica beads to get the rest out, which it did, but now I have water marks that I can't buff out. Other than that issue, they were really great, fit was great, prior to the puddle of water, they were super good at not fogging up. I probably would have given them a better score but once they get water in them, especially on an already cloudy day, they're basically a really expensive blindfold. I have a warranty claim in, consideration is supposed to take up to 2 weeks, I'll revise this review one way or the other depending on how that goes.

They seem nice
1 September 2023

I have only had the smith skyline goggles. Won't be able to try these out until this coming snow season, but I mainly bought them because dark alpine green is my favorite color. The frame around the lens is definitely not also alpine green like the stock photo hints. It's more like a sage green around the lens. Not that it matters a whole lot. They also feel super chinsy compared to my other smith goggles. The plastic around the edge of the lens are bubbled, which I was surprised to see. I had myself convinced that they were fakes at first because of this. Deducted a star because of that. But going by everyone else's rave reviews, I'll keep them a little longer to decide if I'll keep them.

waterlogged and poor warranty service
21 December 2023

Took these up for an early season day, wet conditions. I raised them at one point so that I could adjust straps on a toboggan under a chairlift. When I put them back down I had a half inch of water in between the lenses, it had gone right through the gasket that's suppose to prevent that. I did everything I could short of splitting the lenses to get all the water out, hanging at an angle, in and out of heat. Tried my best so that I wouldnt get a bunch of watermarks on the inside of the lenses to no avail. I contacted Smith about a warranty claim, numerous photos sent. Finally they told me that I had to carve up the lenses to "prove to them that they were out of service". I had to wait for a day that I wasn't going to need them for Patrol for a few days and they sent me a pretty impatient follow up email. I sent them the carved up lens photo, hopefully they fullfill their part. After this encounter I doubt that I'll ever buy Smith products again. I didn't make the poor product, I shouldn't have to "prove" anything. Buyer beware.
