Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub 220 Gr

I’ve tried a bazillion body scrubs and this is definitely a favorite. It is not as effective at actual exfoliation as some (Sunday Riley/Kate Somerville), but the fragrance is divine. This has the same scent as the Bum Bum cream. It is quite strong and will leave skin smelling amazing for hours. The scrub itself is kind of dry. Many scrubs have a liquid oily layer in the container and have to be mixed before using, which is messy. This one is rather solid in the container, and kind of difficult to scoop out. Everything soaks in and my skin is left smooth, soft, and glowing. The exfoliating particles are fine in texture, very much like sand. They are gentle yet effective. I like scrubs where I can actually feel the grittiness on my skin, and this delivers. The only thing about this I don’t love is the packaging. It is the same as the cream. While it works well for the cream, it is awkward for use in a shower. I don’t have a lot of space for products in my shower, and the wide round shape of this takes a ton of room. It is also difficult to open with wet hands. I keep this in my bathroom cabinet instead and scoop out whatever product I need before my shower. A little goes a long way, so even though this is expensive it lasts a long time. I highly recommend this scrub, especially if you are a fan of the Bum Bum cream. It smells incredible and leaves skin amazingly soft!

It smells delectable. Like dessert. It has a very nice consistency of scrub and body oils that gently but effectively slough off dead skin and leave my skin feeling smooth and smelling divine. At $42 it's worth every penny. It's like a mini vacation every time I hit the shower.

Disappointed - total formula change

So this makes me sad/disappointed. I owned the original version of this - the Brazilian Bod Buff and it was amazing. Nothing like it on the market. It was BRIGHT yellow due to the presence of turmeric, which made it so unique. Now, the turmeric was strong in pigment, so after use, it was necessary to wash down your shower to prevent a yellow stain. I know Sol de Janeiro recently also sold to an MLM or is merging with an MLM, so I can only deduce that there is a connection here.To my melaninated sisters and brothers- anyone have any recommendations for a substitute for the OG Bod Buff? I fell inlove with the Bom Dia Bright body butter from this line which was actually really good on my skin which is prone to KP , so I decided to give the scrub a go. Expecting it to smell beachy and expensive - and to feel creamy and scrubby. I love the beads in it, they feel like sand, and I love the consistency, but I hated the smell and the thick layer of oil this left on me and all around the bath. My legs were actually more rashy after using this as it clogged up my razor. In the end I used it up on my feet - it makes a nice foot scrub but wouldn#'t buy it for that at this price, and those particles really are great and super scrubby but I won't be purchasing again. Overall when i buy a high end scrub it has to be usable and leave my skin looking better and make my bath-time easier not harder and this just failed.

Lovely smelling scrub, could do without the glitter

I've been using this scrub for a little while now. The smell is divine, kinda like pear, vanilla and a little spice. It can be quite hard though and I need to really dig in to scoop it out. It can dissolve a little too quick though and that limits its scrubbing potential. However the main reason for my star rating, and why I won't be repurchasing this is that it has glitter in it! I didn't notice it at first. I hate the idea of there being a plastic product in it, and the glitter is so tiny it sticks to your skin. It's so unnecessary and I mean are we still in the 90's where people want to be covered with glitter? No. Plenty of other products out there, but it's a real shame because other than that I quite liked the product

Was worried initially that I wouldn’t get many uses out of this for the price but UM you definitely will, a little goes A LONG way. I had exfoliated using a silk glove prior to applying this scrub all over to make the most out of it and achieve the best results. The scrub was soft in the jar and melted all over my skin wonderfully while smelling heavenly and left my skin soft, bright and rejuvenated. Thick at first, dissolves quick

I also ordered the Bom Dia scrub, which has a very different texture. This scrub is very thick, but it dissolves and melts away almost instantly. To get good exfoliation you have to use a ton of product. I will say that as it melts away, the base feels like more of a hydrating oil base rather than a soapy base which is nice. It has the strong signature gourmand scent you’d expect. I don’t get beach vacation vibes from the scent, more like churro stand or ice cream shop at Disneyland vibes, but its definitely sweet and yummy. If you want deep exfoliation, this isn’t the scrub for you. If you want a luxurious hydrating cleanser with mild exfoliation and great scent, you’ll love this. Also the tub style containers are my favorite - I hate squeeze-tubes!
