My first night using this, using the medium size pillow, and coming from a Resmed F20 full face mask was amazing. I experienced virtually no leaks and recorded my first AHI less than 0.5 and had 0 OAs. Unfortunately it made my nose quite sore so, as per the instructions, went to the large size pillow which seemed to fit better and caused less soreness (but still some) but after a few weeks now I have never achieved results as good as the first night. Still better than my F20 but usually my AHI is greater than 1 and always a few OAs. The auto fit feature is very clever and mostly works well but it's quite easy while sleeping to inadvertently push it tighter which of course then stays too tight until you wake to loosen it again. The most quiet of all my masks, has a good seal, and good enough headgear for moving head.It is very quiet - sometimes I need to take off the mask to make sure the machine is on.The seal is of the nasal pillow has good coverage preventing any hiss - but I do feel the air opening could be larger? However, I breathe well with it on.The head gear is interesting; it is self-adjusting. Empirically it DOES stay on through the night and I get air, but I find myself wishing I could make it and the pillow tighter/snuggier. Good overall with a few flaws
23 April 2024

I used this mask for about a week. It was very comfortable around my head and incredibly easy to adjust on the fly. You just have to nudge it a little bit and the autofit takes over. I did not notice any real change in my results after changing over and my sleep quality remained consistent. My only real complaint is that there was not an option for pillows, only a cradle. The cradle felt like it was pinching my nose a bit more than I am used to, even with the largest size available.I switched back to my P30i before I used the F&P solo to any failure point, but I am curious about how durable it will be. The tube that comes out of the mask seems pretty thin and I am not sure how long the autofit components will retain their strength and work properly.

Great for Back Sleepers

Likes:Comfortable Fit: The Fisher & Paykel Solo fits comfortably without feeling too tight or intrusive, which makes it easier to relax and fall asleep.Soft Mask Cushion: I really appreciate the soft silicone cushion of the Solo. It's gentle on the skin, which is a huge plus for me as it prevents any irritation through the night.Auto-Adjusting Headgear: The auto headgear on the Solo is fantastic. It adjusts itself to maintain a good fit, which is something I think the Brevida could benefit from.Exhaust Noise: The exhaust noise on the Solo is minimal. It's quiet enough that it doesn't disturb my sleep or bother anyone else nearby.Dislikes:Not Ideal for Side or Moving Sleepers: As someone who tends to move around or sleep on their side, the Solo isn’t the best ... MoreLikes:Comfortable Fit: The Fisher & Paykel Solo fits comfortably without feeling too tight or intrusive, which makes it easier to relax and fall asleep.Soft Mask Cushion: I really appreciate the soft silicone cushion of the Solo. The Brevida's nose pillows are excellent at maintaining a good seal, and combining this feature with the Solo's other benefits would make it the ideal CPAP mask for me.Dislike i understood that this mask and headgear could be returned if not satisfied, but after reading return poilcy this is not true as statedIn order to qualify for a return, all of the criteria outlined below must be met:Product must be unopened, unused, and in its original packaging.well the mask has been used - so much for that $100.00

I've tried the Solo Mask and it seals great and is very comfortable. Absolutely love how easy it is to adjust! F&P has hit a home run in that area. I need to do more testing, but I think it is somehow even reducing my clear airway/central apneas. I monitor my data with Oscar and usually average 2-3 CA's per hour, but with the Solo that was reduced to less than 0.5 per hour! Doesn't seem like a big difference, but I definitely seemed to sleep better and felt more rested. The only drawback so far is that it seems rather noisy. Before this I was using the Resmed P10 and it seems like the Solo is at least twice as lound. In fact, last night after not being able to fall asleep because of the noise, I fell back to the P10.

My overall experience with this mask is positive. After using it for about 2 weeks, there are some features I love and a couple of things I don't.On the plus side, the strap and the new technology to fit and adjust the mask is amazing! I have a deviated septum and sometimes have leaks on just one side. With this new strap, I just push in on that side and the mask stays in place, tighter on that side. The mask and cushion are very comfortable, similar to the Brevida but better on the head without the plastic. On the down side, this mask is noisier than others I have tried. My spouse complained it is loud too.Once in a while, when I change position, the masks gets pushed in and feels a little too tight. It's easy to readjust, and not frequent, but it is uncomfortable.I am also concerned about durability. The connection between the thin plastic hose and the mask assembly seems weak and flimsy. I hope it doesn't break and start leaking. I worry that if the hose gets caught on my pillow or underneath my arm while sleeping, it might tug too hard and pull the tube right off.I also don't know how durable the the strap will be with this new technology. It does seem well made.I would definitely recommend this mask for people who are looking for a nasal mask that is easy to fit and adjust because of the new strap. The pros do outweigh the cons.

Solo Nasal Mask
29 April 2024

Overall, I think this is a great nasal mask. It is very comfortable. The headset strap is easy to adjust and secure the mask to underneath your nose. And the head strap and nasal cushion stay in place while you sleep. I have been using the ResMed AirFit N30 mask, which I like as well. One advantage the Fisher & Paykel Solo mask has is the strap that goes around your head. I think it feels more secure. The only downside of the Solo mask would be the amount of air that you can feel leaking from the mask while in use. This, I do not feel when I'm using the N30. If you sleep close to your spouse on your side while facing each other, they will probably feel a little bit of the air blowing their way. Overall, I think this is a great mask, and I will purchase again.

The headstrap and adjustment design does take just a little practice to get used to. Learning to grab one side and fine tune--as shown in the included fitting guide--is remarkably effective and makes it easy to get a fit perfect for a given individual. Do you need it slightly a bit tighter on the left due to nostril differences? You can do that. Unfortunately, the nasal cradle, like most, is going to be hit or miss. I fell between small and medium and could not get the best seal without discomfort, but this is the case with DreamWear and Resmed as well, where the only workable, but still finicky, option is the Small Wide from Resmed. I, and I know many others, do not mesh well with nasal cradles. This will be good for some but not my cup of tea

So I tried this mask out for a week and while there are some cool features for it, it just wasn’t for me. I should probably start out by saying that I have been using the nose pillows mask for a while and have been enjoying them so I might be approaching this with a bit of bias. However, I will start out by saying the auto adjust feature on the mask was very cool and felt more secure on my head compared to the nose pillows. I felt like I didn’t have to worry about the strap itself sliding down during sleep. I also liked the easy to follow installation instructions and the corresponding app which was easy to navigate as well. When it came to actually using it though, I had some difficulty with it while sleeping. I felt like I didn’t have to worry about the strap itself sliding down during sleep. I also liked the easy to follow installation instructions and the corresponding app which was easy to navigate as well. When it came to actually using it though, I had some difficulty with it while sleeping. There were a couple of instances where the silicone nose piece shifted causing one of my nasal passages to be blocked. It was also hard to gauge with the auto sizing what the right fit was. When I had it on too tight, breathing was more difficult. When I had it on too loose, the mask itself will shift around quite a bit. It was hard at times to find that sweet spot where the fit was just right.Ultimately, I feel like the nasal fit of the nose pillows was more my speed due to how they are able to feel more secure in your nose compared to this mask.Again, it’s a cool product and I’m sure it will work well for some people but overall this wasn’t meant for me. Props to the manufacturer though for thinking outside of the box on this and trying to make something better for CPAP users. That is respected and much appreciated.
