A must have for Sonos One

Not surprising. But then I added the mini sub to the first Sonos One room, room 1, where I hang out the most. The difference is simply amazing! It is such a nice upgrade where the music just fills up the space and is now on par with the TV surround sound and "muscle amp" system in workout room. I was amazed of the quality of the sound, and I am so pleased with this product. The only downside is now I am going to have to purchase another one to add to the 2nd room because the difference is so dramatic, I just have to do it! But really in no hurry as the mini bass set up in 1st room "bleeds" into the 2nd room enough to enhance the sound in room 2 as well. But eventually adding another mini to have one in each room is in the future for me. Set up was amazingly simple as the app quickly recognized the mini, updated it, and then added it to the system. Only "tricky" part was I had to lastly "assign" it to a room as it can only be assigned to one room. Everything was completed on an iphone in the app. Easy peasy.

Great addition to Sonos setups in small to medium rooms

I love listening to music while I cook or wash the dishes, and the Sub Mini adds so much low end that the One isn't capable of producing alone. It also makes the soundstage feel wider. Like with other Sonos products, this one is super easy to setup through the app, and I'm happy to report I haven't experienced any connection issues or other bugs. Some things to note about my specific setup though: I have the Sub Mini placed under my kitchen island on one side of a large vertical piece of wood that runs down the middle of the island, so the bass is significantly stronger on one side of the kitchen than the other. This is to be expected and isn't a fault of the sub, but it's worth noting if you have a similar setup and plan on using this outside of a living room space. The other thing I've noticed is that, despite being Sonos' entry-level sub, the Sub Mini is overkill for my kitchen, especially when paired with just one Sonos One, and it's making me think about getting a second One to create a stereo setup in my kitchen. That said, being overpowered for my kitchen bodes well for the Sub Mini in entertainment setups, and if I didn't already have a full-sized Sub in my living room, that's where I would have put the Sub Mini. The only con is that the price point is a little high for Sonos' entry level subwoofer-I'd have loved to see this come in at just under $400.

And I say that also referring to the Sub Mini, since it adds a new spectrum of sounds which is completely worth it. Plus, this is also the case for games, I love to game and the sounds I get out from the Sub Mini and the whole sounds system is so amazing. I'm very happy with it and I would recommend it to anyone to improve their sounds setup.

I've been waiting for this!

I always wanted the big sub but thought it would be overkill. Especially because I have kids and they are usually go to sleep early. I Obviously didn't want loud bass to wake them up. I was so happy when I saw leaked images of this on The Verge because I knew I was going to get it way before it was announced. This new sub mini is perfect in that it provides more bass than the arc but not so annoying that it wakes kids up at night. Sometimes I use the "night mode" in the app but it kinda defeats the purpose. It's also nice that it's not very noticeable during commercials. So far I have been impressed with how powerful it can be for such a small package. I only have it set to a little over 50% normally. So far I have been impressed with how powerful it can be for such a small package. I only have it set to a little over 50% normally. When we all get together and watch movies, I can turn it up and it provides more power than the standard family room needs. (I live in an 1800 sq ft house with a larger family room). Some people think the price is still a little high. Considering it's wireless, loud and I didn't have to run any wires, I strongly disagree. I'm coming from an older wired Bose jewel surround speaker setup with that HUGE sub. I never had a place to store the sub & receiver and all the wires needed to be connected to it by the TV. It was truly an eyesore and annoying. This solves all my problems and I hid the sub behind the couch so you don't even know it's there. my whole setup is extremely clean and sounds great. Thank you Sonos for considering people who have less space and nowhere to put audio equipment.

Ok performance but Questions over Firmware Reliability
15 March 2023

I have a Beam Gen2 soundbar which has proved great value and an excellent upgrade over my older TV sound-base. While the Beam works well for its size and has great overall sound quality, it unsurprisingly lacks a little depth in the lower bass area, so I decided to buy a Sub Mini at the beginning of February 2023. First thoughts were that the Sub Mini made only marginal improvement in the sound, and with trial and error I found that the bass boost EQ in the S2 application works at too high a frequency for use with a sub. For my ears, the best way around this was to ensure that the "Loudness" was off, set the bass to "0 or less" and use the separate sub volume control to enhance the lower bass. For my ears, the best way around this was to ensure that the "Loudness" was off, set the bass to "0 or less" and use the separate sub volume control to enhance the lower bass. This worked fine for a few weeks before Sonos via the S2 software advised a firmware upgrade on the Beam and Sub at the beginning of March. The Beam updated OK, but the Sub Mini would not update and subsequently locked out of the S2 application. Checking the Sonos The Sonos technical team were easily contacted and patient as I worked through every option with them to diagnose the failure the firmware in the Sub, with the net result that the unit is now on it's way to back to Poland for replacement after only 4 weeks of use. So to sum up, the Sub Mini will improve the sound of the Beam sound bar, but considering how good the Beam already is, it is unlikely that most people will notice much difference for the price..... Sonos technical support was very good, but I would rather not have needed their involvement on a product that was virtually new and working fine before their update attempt.

The new Sonos Sub Mini Wireless Subwoofer is very impressive. Just like with all Sonos products you have come to expect the best and they deliver every time. The bass in this unit is more than capable of providing the heard pounding sounds most like to hear when watching a movie or their favorite tunes. This is absolutely perfect for mid sized rooms. Additionally, it would be a great complement to a mid sized home theatre as well. I've invested a lot....at least for me....in Sonos products. The new Victrolo Turntable is so tempting but after collecting over 15,000 compact discs since they were released in the early 80's I refuse to go back and repurchase Vinyl for nostolgia alone. It simply cannot sound any better than what I have with current Sonos System. Buy any Sonos product and you will be glad you did.

I hesitated to buy the Sub Mini because I have the Sonos Arc, and 2 Play 1's as surround speakers and the Sub Mini was not apparently designed for the more powerful Sonos Arc. However, buying direct from Sonos gave me the opportunity to try out the Sub Mini and, if I wasn't happy with it, using it with my Arc and Play 1's, I could return it within 100 days. I have had the Sub Mini for a week now and am extremely pleased with it. The instant it was set up and used with our tv sound, the difference in bass was amazing and superb. Using it with music it is similarly instantly noticeable adding a very rich bass sound. I have tried switching the bass off and the lack of rich bass is very apparent. If anyone is hesitating to buy the Sub Mini because they have been put by reviews or suggestions that it is not powerful enough to be used alongside the Arc then I can say without hesitation that I absolutely love the very noticeable difference in sound and am so very pleased that I decided to go ahead and buy it. Though I did check the size of the Sub Mini, it did turn out to be smaller than I imagined and very easy to place in our room. It was reasonably easy to set up though we were not able to set up using NFC as recommended. We resorted to keying in the 8 digit code on the bottom of the speaker to set up the Sub Mini with the Sonos app. There is considerable adjustment available within the app to adjust the bass sound to your liking and it can be very powerful

The missing link for a humble Sonos setup
28 October 2022

This is the missing piece I've been wanting for years. As expected a smaller, less expensive subwoofer made by Sonos was more than enough for my small - medium living room. I don't even have the bass dialed up more than 1 or 2 points from it's default settings and it rocks. I have this paired to a 1st gen Sonos Beam and two IKEA x Sonos Symfonisk bookshelf speakers. I've had this surround setup for almost two years and with the Sub Mini added, everything is better. More surround sound depth, better speech clarity which is something I was considering replacing the Beam to achieve. Now I just feel like I'm missing Dolby Atmos, but this setup sounds incredible. Highly recommend doing the Trueplay tuning again after you update the Sonos app and the system to the latest ... MoreThis is the missing piece I've been wanting for years. Also, just a general recommendation for anyone new to Sonos with a setup on WiFi-only. If you've got mesh routers like Eero, Google WiFi, Linksys Velop, etc and experience dropouts, I HIGHLY recommend the Sonos Amp to alleviate interference and allow the Sonos system to operate on it's own "network". I haven't had a single issue since I added the Amp. Sonos is not a cheap ecosystem to get in to but in my opinion the simplicity, reliability, sound quality and expandability over time is unmatched.

seasoned Sonos user cannot add sub mini
10 October 2022

I own seven other Sonos speakers and this is the only product I've had difficulty pairing and after several hours I've given up. Sub can be at times paired intially but quits halfway through the pairing process via WiFi. The sub mini simply won't begin pairing when using wired Ethernet and says "Sonos speaker cannot be found, please ensure the speaker is plugged in" and it says this with a giant picture of the sub mini on the screen asking you to pair it. I've tried turning off all wifi devices - nothing. Swapped Ethernet cables, switches - nothing. Factory reset of the sub 10 times - doesn't help. Sometimes it will randomly connect via WiFi and disappear once I try to add it to my beam gen 2 or arc. Other times it will pair with the beam, show "beam +?" Sometimes it will randomly connect via WiFi and disappear once I try to add it to my beam gen 2 or arc. Other times it will pair with the beam, show "beam +?" And display sub controls but the sub doesn't actually produce base. Several times all goes well and when I attempt to add it to a sound bar two sub minis will appear on the screen and it will sit on that screen for 5 min and then time out. Another odd feature is it will at times pair with the app and allow me to add it to a single Sonos one and work normally but when I try to add it to any other speaker the connect is lost. I've never had a single issue with my sub gen 3 or any other Sonos speaker. I tried pairing the sub gen 3 to these sound bars and have zero issues. Avoid this until Sonos fixes the firmware.
