The lens maybe feels a tad cheap but is edge to edge sharp with virtually no distortion.Obviously I will be buying some more glass, mainly primes and can’t wait to see how far I can push the resolution.I attach an image of a frosty bird feeder as an example of this lens and camera. Taken on a really dull morning.Don’t hesitate to grab one the best full frame cameras and see for yourself the improvements.... Show more

Like others, I found the set-up instructions extremely poor and I'm still not convinced I've done it right, as unlike my Panasonic it takes an inordinate amount of time to connect to an HDMI accessory and I can't seem to get to grips with Catch-Up TV, but that may be down to my limited tech knowledge. For a non-Gamer is it worth the substantial extra investment? It's a case of wait and see.... Show more

Fantastic TV
21 December 2021
If you’re looking for a 65 inch screen with all of the latest features at a great price, this TV will tick all the boxes. There are a few trade offs, which you’d expect at £1000, slightly less brightness in HDR compared to some other TV’s, however those TV’s are at a £500+ price point over this offering. The sound setup for where you sit is a really good feature, as is the vocal enhancement feature that is a god send when you watch movies on Sky, as you’ll often find the special effects sounds much higher in volume compared to the speech. This helps a hell of a lot! Really good feature there from Sony. 120hz mode works great with PS5 and Xbox Series X, although it was a slight pain to set it up on the Series X. PS5 was a doddle as you’d expect, plugged into HDMI 3 or 4 as both support HDMI 2.1 and set the PS5 and it’s done. I’m a sky customer so using the TV’s interactive features isn’t something I use so I can’t comment on that, but the main online services seem to be there, TV is pretty speedy around the menus and settings, another good feature being able to arrange the sources to get to them quicker. Really love the remote too, looks sleek on the coffee table and the buttons are nice and plush. This is the third Sony TV I’ve bought in the last 7 years, testament to them for impressing me in every purchase. Highly recommend this TV... Show more

Frustrating OS
27 December 2021
The item doesn't have the quality feel of a Samsung product, from the plastic look of the tv and the remote control. I had a bravia 12 years ago and remember that item really standing out especially with the sound. My last tv was samsung and that still feels premium compared to this tv. The standard Sony web browser is poor and crashes so much that its not worth using. The OS is irrelevant if you don't use any subscription services. It focuses on these and if you don't use them they get in the way because they are at the forefront of the OS. It's a Google tv so Google should be at the forefront of the OS but it's not and is in the background. The app search is restricted and you can't find all the apps you can on your phone. BBC apps still not available, itv too. You can get these on far cheaper tvs so this is unacceptable. Sound isn't as expected, it's a bit flat and not many profiles available to adjust this as with other tvs. Same with picture, not many profiles and doesn't handle fast moving images well. Wifi and screen sharing is really poor. My old Samsung still does this better the this Sony tv. Constantly losing connection and crashing so had to use a cable across my lounge for internet connection. Full of bloat wear, a lot of apps which can't be uninstalled and if you don't use the big subscription services, ie, netflix, disney etc you'll find the TV very annoying. Good points are, not much screen glare, better than the LG and Samsung items, PS4 connectivity is good and works seemlessly. Has a designated slot once plugged in. Also connecting Bluetooth mouse and keyboard is also good, however, mouse does not work well, is too fast and so far can't find options to adjust this so is useless.... Show more

Good TV let down by poor design and a nasty UI
9 March 2022
I chose Sony as I wanted AirPlay functionality but have been disappointed by needless aggravations along the way. Firstly, the feet are so far apart it wasn’t going to fit on our otherwise perfectly good TV unit. Not wishing to dispose of it I bought a tabletop stand which seemed to fit the bill. However, Sony bury the screw holes so deep in the back of the TV that none of the SIX sizes of screws provided by the manufacturer were long enough to attach the stand. Therefore a trip to Screwfix was required.I wasn’t impressed at the free advertising for various streaming platforms on the remote, or at the need to get involved in the Google TV nonsense. While I was impressed at how easy the TV was to set up, and at the remote seamlessly being able to operate Apple TV and 99% of the TiVo, brownie points were lost for the time I had to spend deleting or disabling Google Play apps and minimising the amount of data gathering the TV could do.In addition, the remote turned out to be faulty but Sony were top notch at sending a replacement. In short, a decent TV poorly designed, and for those who care about privacy and object to their data being collected and monetised, the UI being Google TV is a major minus.... I bought this tv a year ago. Was delighted with it once set up but after a few weeks a green flash started to appear intermittently and then at least once every minute. I followed all the troubleshooting advice and reset the tv multiple times as it continued to switch off. I also changed any settings (when the tv actually worked) that the troubleshooting suggested maybe causing the issue. The tv eventually switched off and would not power on again. I adore this camera. It's a bit pricey but really

I'm a graphic designer and art director. I decided to get into videography and this is my first camera. I heard that Sony UI and usability is quite frustrating, so I was a bit worried. I can honestly say that after a few customizations this camera is absolutely wonderful and I have zero frustrations. I bought two Sony lenses that are both glorious, especially the first: Sony 85mm 1.8 and the 24mm 1.4. Both of these are essential kit/primes as far as I'm concerned. The 85 is drop dead gorgeous. Anyway, I'm super happy with this purchase and can only recommend this as a prosumer entry into video. The color is limited to 8 bit and if you CAN wait, I read that the mk2 is coming out this year with 10bit color. Really disappointing
17 December 2022
Have had the Sony bravia a year now and can honestly say it's the most disappointing Sony product I have ever owned and the worst tv. My 8 year old samsung is more stable and is easier to use. It never crashes and I never have to reset it.Initially, instore I thought the picture quality was better compared to the other tvs, had a clearer image, deeper tones and darker dark areas. Once home though I noticed that the google aspect is just a gimmick. The OS is really flakey, constantly having to reset the system, apps don't load properly, sound keeps lowering and becoming crackly. Sound quality is poor as standard. The tv is cheap looking and the controller feels cheap in the hand too. Settings are poor, there isn't much to toggle with to set up to your preferences. Everything is very limited including sound settings. The sound is very flat and doesn't have the lovely deap surround sound of their stereos or the 12 year bravia I had which was 32 inches and far better than this tv. Although at the time wasn't smart but this isn't really either. The initial desktop you are shown once loaded is muddled and shows nothing of relevance. Menus are bloated not easily accessible. It needs to be more Google and it's not. Sony have just used the name and the search function but that's it. The tv has gotten worse with age and after only a year airways feels like it's going to crash.Have called Sony many times, initially they were helpful but with persistent problems have just started playing the usual game of fobbing me off. Their answer to my issues is to keep resetting the tv to factory settings or update to latest system even though it is already and have supplied the evidence. They said they would send an engineer but now not interested in helping.... Show more

Such a compact full frame camera!

Wow, how did they manage to fit a full frame sensor in a body that is so compact? On first opening the box I was almost taken back by how small this camera is, up until now I was used to substantially bigger cameras loaded with smaller sensors so this is my first full frame experience and it started off with a really nice surprise. All the hype around the body dimensions is correct - it is certainly far easier and convenient to carry about than many other cameras that I've had over the years and is very light weight. The camera easily fits into your jacket pocket or small bag, even with the kit lens attached - with this the magic happens as the 28-60 lens retracts into itself to make a very decent package indeed. The build quality feels really nice with all the ... MoreWow, how did they manage to fit a full frame sensor in a body that is so compact? On first opening the box I was almost taken back by how small this camera is, up until now I was used to substantially bigger cameras loaded with smaller sensors so this is my first full frame experience and it started off with a really nice surprise. All the hype around the body dimensions is correct - it is certainly far easier and convenient to carry about than many other cameras that I've had over the years and is very light weight. The camera easily fits into your jacket pocket or small bag, even with the kit lens attached - with this the magic happens as the 28-60 lens retracts into itself to make a very decent package indeed. The build quality feels really nice with all the buttons and knobs having a nice responsive click, the control knobs are weighted just nicely so that you have to make a purpose action to move the settings (good for removing unwanted mode changes etc). The chassis is very stiff with a real solid feel to it and I like the jack/card/battery covers that have a sort of sprung sliding latch mechanism to lock the doors - much better than a rubber flap type cover. The body is weather sealed and feels like it is going to last.Picture quality.... this is my favourite bit: I predominantly take photos and video in very difficult and dark situations such as inside mines and other underground environments. My usual tool has a smaller sensor so upon first viewing the photos that I took the first time with the A7C the difference was truly worlds apart. For one, the focusing system is really good, no - its amazingly good - it really is. Even in dimly lit caverns, somehow the focus could lock onto objects and provided a perfectly sharp image - the days of manually focussing and prayers are over! Sony has definitely won me over with the superb focussing system alone and it is this where I think that Sony really are head and shoulders above other systems.Currently I've only got the kit lens (28-60 FE4-5.6) and I must say that it is more than capable of taking really nice sharp images both in daylight and also in the dark. As mentioned, all my photography is done underground so I use ISO100, F8.0 at around 25 to 30 second exposures (light painted) - noise is really non existent even at these fairly long exposure times, ramping the ISO right up still results in a beautiful image and is surely testament that Sony's good quality large sensor is far more capable than smaller alternatives. My favourite feature is two fold. The flip out screen is just great, perfect for setting shots up and for Vlogging (the kit lens is perfectly wide enough for my usage at arms length), also again - the sensor and focus system are brilliantly matched producing crisp edges and noise free images. The menu system - although at first it is certainly well adorned with settings does become a lot easier to use once you know where everything is - I've made good use of the custom menu so that all my commonly used settings are right in one place for quick easy access. The cameras buttons are customisable but I like to leave most of them set as per the little graphic icon printed on the camera body, instead having the single Fn button set to display a quick access menu to all the common settings. For me, I like the simple system rather than a mass of buttons - in my environment I just set the camera's custom modes (there's three of them to assign your settings to) and shoot away knowing that all the settings are already dialled in as I have previously set. The simplicity was one of the points that actually drew me to the camera as well as the compact chassis. The movie mode on the Sony is now just great, no recording time limitation caused through heat - and that autofocus with face detection and tracking.... wow, truly amazing! The stabilization is fair, it does remove a lot of the high frequency movements but the camera outputs the giro data to the movie file so that editing software can further reduce them pesky wobbles that occur from VLogging/walking/climbing etc.So to conclude: I'm new to the Sony photography world and I really like what I'm experiencing over my current gear. Lovely sensor images, fantastic autofocus, great build quality. I think me and the new Sony A7C will get on just fine!... Show more
