I usually shoot video in 8K NRAW on the Nikon Z8/Z9 which requires a very fast card that can read and write at high speed. I got about 157 shots ( about 8 seconds) at this setting on the Z8 before the burst started to stutter. I guess if one needs to shoot massive 45MP raw files in prolonged bursts of 20 fps for more than about 8 seconds, then an even faster card might be required. Again I don't know what type of photography would require this type of usage as I imagine very fast action photography would not require such massive file sizes. I didn't test lower frame rates, smaller raw files (there are two other smaller raw settings) or JPEGs.Anyway I am very happy with the card, so much so that I actually bought a second one from Wex. I realise I could have bought a 500 GB card at the time of writing for £100 less than the price of two 250GB cards but having two has certain advantages.

Picked this up when Sony were offering £100 cash back which will make the end price £209 so an absolute bargain which was hard to turn down. Using it in a Nikon Z8 without any problems. I also have another 128Gb card from the same range that I've never had any issues with that one.I can't imagine I'll ever fill this card but useful to have the capacity should I want to get into video more.

I have a 128GB version of this card. It was not dropped or abused (even though they are supposed to withstand a fall). Through normal use part of the plastic casing broke off. I called SONY to ask what can be done and they said it is physical damage and they don't cover it. I even asked what if I purchased the day before, put it in my camera and this happened and they said still not covered. How can you put tough on your card if it doesn't even withstand inserting/removing from a camera/card reader? Will NOT BUY AGAIN.

The problem is that there are 3 very thin pieces of plastic where it enters into the card reader. I've owned literally over 100 cards in my career, including SD, micro SD, CF, C-fast, and more, and I've only ever broken an SD card that has some of the contact points bent. Then these so-called tough cards break in less than a year and a half of use. Disappointing for how expensive they are. As for the performance... excellent. Super fast upload and write speeds. Faster than anything else I've ever used by far. The thing most people skip over is the Write speed and focus on the Read speed which is always the top line in the advertisement. But in most cases, who cares what the read speed is. All I care about is getting my 50Mb image on the card, which depends on the Write speed. With a Write speed of 1480 MB/s, the Sony Tough cards are some of the fastest around. I use the 128 GB card because it holds over 2,000 images on the card. Practically speaking even on a good day I seldom need to switch cards. If you buy a 256 or larger card, you're probably spending money that would be better wasted on another 128 Gb card. Having two smaller cards is better than one card as you don't have a backup. I've never had a memory card related issue with the Sony Tough cards.

I nearly lost a bunch of footage from a wedding 3 weeks ago and had to use the Sony recovery software, which did work thank god... But, I noticed that I had another corrupted video file yesterday. Of course after the initial issue I formatted the card in Windows and then again in camera, just to try and make extra sure it was all ready to go. But it appears that there are problems with this card that are starting to emerge. It would be foolish for me to continue to use this card after experiencing issues with it on 2 occasions now. Bought this card as I've never had Sony memory cards fail on me; this one is just as reliable as my past experiences. The read and write speeds on the card are spot on. I put in this card in my Canon R5 and never remove it, it records 8K video and full sized bursts without any issue whatsoever. After 400GB+ written, still chugging along reliably. I only transfer images via USB-C so I cannot attest to the physical durability of the card as it never leaves my camera.
