- Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 III Camera
Armed with Sony’s brilliant one-inch sensor and the super-fast image processor, the RX-100 III is guaranteed to produce outstanding results. This sleek pocket-sized camera sports a very fast Zeiss F/1.8 to F/2.8 lens which is brilliant for low light situations. A fast autofocusing system combined with the BIONZ X image processor enables a very fast image capture rate of 10 frames per second which gives you more chance of capturing that perfect moment. This camera speed also enables brilliant videos to be captured in full 1920*1080 High Definition. Viewing options Harsh Australian sunlight can play havoc with LCD visibility so the addition of an electronic viewfinder can be a life saver. It also means that you can hold the camera rock steadily against your eye to minimise camera movement when the lighting situations demand it. The camera also includes an inbuilt 3 stop ND filter which allows you to blur backgrounds in bright lighting situations. The bright LCD screen tilts upwards 180 degrees so it’s fantastic for group shots (especially when using Sony apps for remote shooting) and selfies. Communication The RX-100 III comes equipped with Wi-Fi and NFC, allowing for easy communication with other devices and sharing of photos. Additionally, Sony apps allow you to remotely control the camera settings, edit photos and apply special effects before effortlessly sharing your creations.

I wanted a small compact camera for carrying with me at all times plus whilst on my bicycle. The small size if the RX100 plus the 1" sensor steered me twoards it.So far I am most pleased with it. The still images, both JPEG and RAW are better than I expected. The 4K video is outstanding and the 1080P is even better in my view.I wear glasses and the viewfinder works fine with them.If you need a small camera that is easily carried everyday then the RX100 may be what you need.

I do most of my photography with a compact and I do take a lot of photos so I get through cameras quite quickly, consequently I have tried a number of makes over the years and this is my first Sony.It is a good looking camera, though I have a couple of minor thoughts on design. It almost seems to be designed for designers, for example the body is very smooth, I am not sure why they could not have put a tactile surface on it rather than selling a stick on grip, secondly the shutter button is flush with the top plate which makes it difficult to feel for if you are looking at the screen or into the view finder or need to take a very quick photo.I have got around the smoothness and the risk of dropping it by using a wrist strap, that I did on previous cameras ... The button should be slightly raised and with a slight concave dip in it to position your finger. That aside the camera works well, the photos are sharp as I would expect with a Zeiss lens. Being new to it I had to do a little fine tuning of the features to get it as I want it to be.There is a users book with it, I find it irritating that it is quite so thick as it comes in a huge number of languages. That seems rather wasteful seeing as there are not many pages of instructions in each language, it can't be difficult to just include a manual for the country that the camera is being exported to or simply say it is on line to download. As to the information in it, one of the main things I wanted to know was what the different exposure options were, Auto, aperture priority, speed priority and so on, I know these mentioned but there were two I have never seen before, Superior auto and intelligent auto. There was no explanation of what any of these where, It took me ages on line to find out.Surely this is basic information that should be in a manual, long before what the European regulations are for safe disposal of the camera. I jest somewhat.Actually the on line manual is very good. The camera is surprisingly heavy for its quite small size which make it feel as though it is well made, which it seems to be. The controls are all firm and feel as though they will last. All in all and despite my observations on design and the manual, I am very pleased with it, it is a smart looking thing and above all, it does what I want, take good photos.

The Sony RX100 series really are brilliant. It is a truly pocketable camera with a viewfinder that produces fantastic images. However I've given it one star. This is my third RX100 in nine years - since 2013. I've previously had an RX100 III and an RX100 VA. Both broke with what seem to me to be electrical faults, one in the sensor and one in the flash/viewfinder. The VA, which I looked after really carefully, lasted less than three years. It is currently at Sony for investigation but I don't expect much from them.Bizarrely the original RX 100 III, whose sensor failed, has lived in a box without it's battery whilst I had the VA. I recently took it out to send to Sony to look at as I was sending the VA anyway, but it now works fine again. Capacitance?I'd already ... MoreThe Sony RX100 series really are brilliant. I recently took it out to send to Sony to look at as I was sending the VA anyway, but it now works fine again. Capacitance?I'd already bought the replacement Mk III when I realised this, and to be honest I expect if I start to use the original Mk III in anger then, having already failed catastrophically once, it will fail again.By way of comparison, the Canon EOS 20D and Panasonic LX5 I used from the 2005 to 2013 still work fine.Very reluctantly I've bought another RX100 III, as it is relatively cheap. I couldn't find another product that fitted my requirements quite so well, although in future it is quite likely I will switch to a smaller Fuji mirrorless.I expect this new Mk III will break in two - three years. I wouldn't bet money on it failing in the warranty period, but I would bet money it will fail within three years. I'm viewing the £469 outlay as a subscription - in order to have a camera that meets my needs for two years I have to pay a bit less than my Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions, and anything else is a bonus. However I find it pretty disgraceful that I am forced to think about thinks like that - not least from the waste in terms of resources and environment.I won't ever be buying any other Sony cameras ever again. Neither will I replace my long-lasting Sony TV with another TV from them. Or anything else electronic from Sony. I'm so fed up with this experience that the Sony brand is dirt to me.

Bought this to replace a RX100 Mark 1 which finally gave up after about 9 years of moderate use -- so not too bad.The RX100 V(A) is a notable upgrade in usage, with the built in viewfinder and tilt-able screen, and much enhanced focus system including face / eye recognition in partficular.Very promising reviews and marks for the sensor performance too - though I haven't yet done much post processing.Generally a very good feature balance against the competition (I heavily prioritise quality and therefore sensor size personally, as the user of a semi-pro mirrorless "SLR" for when i'm in even more enthusiast mode - which makes normal compacts with smaller sensors look really poor.I like the balance of features here compared to later models too - as I said I ... I wanted a camera that was a noticeable upgrade from a smartphone, portable, and didn't cost a fortune. I did a lot of research and went for this model in the end - and the results I have obtained even with my basic and limited knowledge of photography have far exceeded my expectations. If point and click is more your thing, this also does a superb job of that - and the camera knows more than I do at the moment when comparing my manual pictures to the settings the camera chooses on auto.I have also compared this side by side with an expensive DSLR, and whilst a good photographer would achieve better results with the bigger camera, for me the comparison was favourable for my RX and what I was trying to achieve.I don't intend to take up photography as a hobby, ... The zoom is not that big, so if that's important you may want to consider stepping up to models higher in this range, but for someone like me - using it on trips at home and abroad it's perfect - giving me control over the settings, and avoiding the horrible distortion that can occur on camera phones.
I purchased the camera from Photospecialist on 20/02/2024. After reading the specification for the camera it appeared exactly what I was looking for. One of key functions I required was to be able to transfer images from the camera to a smartphone using the NFC function. I tried for hours trying to set this up but could not get it to work. The manual stated that the Playmemories app needed to be installed on the smartphone, after checking Google Play store it stated that the IME app had replaced Playmemories. I assumed (wrongly) that the IME app would allow me set up the image transfer function. I contacted Sony Customer Support and was then told that needed the Creators app (Case number 26737107 refers). I spent another few hours trying to set the function up without success. I contacted Customer Support again and was then told the function would not work with Playmemories. At this stage I was annoyed that I had purchased a camera and one of the key functions would not work. I checked with Photospecialist who I purchased the camera from and they were not aware of the issue. I then checked with a number of online stockists and none were aware of this issue. I contacted Customer Services again and stated that I belief Sony were at fault for not making it clear that this function did work on the DSC RX100M3. They confirmed that the function did work DSC RX100M4 and I asked if they could arrange with Photospecialist to supply me with DSC RX100M4 at nil cost and I would return the DSC RX100M3 to Photospecialist. They stated that the issue would need to be escalated and would need to wait for one day for a decision. Today 19/03/2024 Customer Services have advised that this would not be possible and I would need to go back to the seller (Photospecialists). I have contacted Photospecialists who are very embarrassed by the issue, they do not have a DSC R100M in stock but have offered DSC R100VA at a reduced cost. This would mean me having to spend £200. I feel that Sony could have shown some goodwill for all of the inconvenience I have been caused for what is a very serious product management issue.
The camera is a magnificent piece of kit. My only concern, being 90 years old, it's a little too complicated for me. Various screens appear that I do not understand. Initially, perfect shots, but trying various settings has possibly upset the balance/factory settings? My fault, not the cameras! The versatility of the screen is second to none.
Having to drop from a DSLR due to Ill health LCE Derby recommended this camera, I was unsure if the sensor being a one inch format ( not a physical one inch size) would give me the results but as a long term customer I was happy to give it a go; here’s what I found:-The electronic viewfinder is top notch clear and dare I say better for information on screen than my previous DSLR.Very compact with the fast 24-70 lens. You do have to be careful with menu and tiny buttons.Focus is great and the fitted case is worth getting to complement it.It came with an out of date software that windows 11 wouldn’t download but a bit of digging found that it was updated and renamed,Having used it for a couple of months great interior and portrait shots but I can’t help ... It could be me though. Can’t review sound or video as I don’t shoot it.
The screen of my RX100 III Camera shows permanent stains in its interior, which can be seen from the exterior. I'm dissapointed with its many faults. I'm very careful handling it and keep the camera inside a protective case. However, the screen stains can't be cleaned because they are located in its interior. It's obvious the screen is not properly sealed and humidity has gone inside it. It looks grubby. I'm very dissapointed as this camera is advertised as high-tech, but it is not. Same happened with the screen of my RX100 I, I'm sure Sony R&D is aware of the faulty screen. NOT recommended.
upgraded from the original model rx100, for the extra features-the pop up viewfinder is great, not only because i can frame a shot accurately in bright conditions, but because i can use naked eye and the focus adjustment to easily access all the controls and not have to go digging for spectacles-the settings are reasonably straightforward, but like the original model, will need some configuring to suit personal preferences in the shortcut menus and available controls-the tilting lcd screen is helpful in certain circumstances; the lack of touch screen facility is not missed by me - less grubby fingermarks on the view i need to see-the additional program for timelapse is something i was keen for, and it's okay, but the purchase and download to obtain it is ...
