This items fit perfectly onto the camera body of my SONY Alpha A330. I bought it at or local Best Buy at a discount price of $45, due to another employees mistake of selling the wrong lens to a customer, so the box was opened. I suggest making sure to use a solid tripod timer when using this lens, as to avoid blurriness, especially while shooting photos of the moon! Rather than that CON, overall I'm thoroughly satisfied with this lens. It's a great alternative to some other more expensive lenses. I would recommend this took anybody looking for quality without the steep cost!!

I have this telephoto lens. When visiting in Hollywood I was asked who I freelanced for? Guess that’s a good sign that i have an awesome camera and lens. I just told the guy I’m a photo enthusiast. He looked at me like “right?!?” I truely enjoy the photos I get with this lens. Better than any other camera I’ve ever owned. The pictures look like I’m right there while in reality I’m 2 blocks away.

I was looking for a tele zoom lens for my Sony Alpha-55 SLR. The usual option is to go for a 70-300, and Sony offer this lens in the range. However, the auto-focus action on the 70-300 is very hesitant and noisy, and you may well miss some action shots while the lens is hunting for focus, especially on a moving subject. Equally, the 70-300mm lens is quite long when zoomed fully telephoto, and it takes up quite a bit of bag room when travelling. Enter the compact DT 55-200 SAM lens, which features Sony's built-in auto-focus servo motor for faster and more accurate auto-focus action. This lens is nicely balanced in terms of weight distribution, it's not much larger than the standard 'kit' 18-55 lens (and it takes the same 55mm screw-in filters), and the auto-focusing ... This lens is nicely balanced in terms of weight distribution, it's not much larger than the standard 'kit' 18-55 lens (and it takes the same 55mm screw-in filters), and the auto-focusing is quick and accurate even in low light when following a moving subject. Add to this Sony's patented "Steady Shot Inside" technology in the Alpha camera body and you have a compact and portable camera & lens combo with lots of extra "reach" for action shots under a wide range of conditions. Okay, the reach is not as far as with the 70-300mm lens, but the camera's resolution and image quality are so high you can afford to crop the image a little afterwards to get the framing you wanted. The DT in the name means this lens only fits APS-sensor cameras, so it won't work on the rarer full-frame Sony Alphas. SAL means it fits cameras with the Alpha/ Minolta AF mount, and SAM denotes the built-in AF motor which gives the super-fast auto-focus action. Beware, there is an earlier version of the 55-200 lens which doesn't say SAM on the barrel, and this lens relies on the camera's AF motor, so you don't get all the benefits of the SAM technology. This is why the lens I am reviewing has the product code SAL552002, there's a "2" on the end denoting the later model variant. Overall I'm really pleased with the bargain lens I bought here, and I don't regret not going for the larger 70-300mm zoom at all. Happy shooting! Lens reviewed by wedge_pilot

I purchased zoom lens as a very last minute Christmas gift for my daughter. I was concerned about whether the lens would be the proper fit for her camera and how Adorama would be to deal with. I am very pleased to say that both the lens and Adorama were perfect! I am so glad I found this company for our future camera needs!!
This is an affordable medium telephoto lens that is much more sharp than I expected. Having previously purchased a 50mm dedicated portrait prime lens which is tack sharp, I found the sharpness on this lens impressive enough to choose it over my prime for most portrait work. If you step back and zoom in on your subject it renders nice out of focus backdrops. I used it at multiple concerts and events and it performed very well especially in good light. For more intimate events you'll likely want a 24-70 to cover a wider range. If you are shooting in low-light there are better options. For daylight telephoto medium to long reach and sharp results at an affordable price, it's difficult to beat this lens!
I cannot imagine how this lens can be had in like new condition for $30. Functionally outstanding as far as focus speed & full integration with the a77II, lightweight, & mind boggling ease of use when compared with older Minolta & Sony offerings. What it lacks in expensive build,, metal, & high end crisp images, it more then makes up for focal range & fitting well in multiple situations. As a long time collector of A mount lenses I deem this one a best buy for 98% of of the internet posting, Joe walk around, Sony A crop sensor digital photographers out there.
I like using the lens on my Sony A200. I can now get to photograph actual landscapes from distance since I only had the default kit lens. My only issue is that the lens I bought with a filter kit. The filters are fine but the polarizing lens won't allow the hood, which came with the lens, to be installed. the knurled ring around the polarizing filter was to large to allow installation. The fallacy of buying online without actually seeing if the devices will work together.
I absolutely love this lens, the optics are difinitely worth more than $xxx, but construction is a bit of a letdown overall. Of course as for under $500 range, it's an awesome lens with an OK set of materials. I really like the way it performs. It is sharp throughout the entire zoom range and doesn't distort. At least not enough for it to be visible. The focusing system is also very fast and is much quieter than on 18-55mm kit lens that I used to have.Drawbacks are the way the hood mounts on the lens. I'm used to lenses with internal focusing, so this one feels a bit weird with external focusing and rotating front element. The hood mounts around the front element, meaning that you have to hold a focus ring when mounting and dismounting it, so that you accidentally ... I've had a month to play with my new auxiliary lens. It does a magnificent job every time with my Sony Alpha Camera System. The photos are sharp as "tacks." I've certainly not detected any irregularities as to color, etc. It's a snap to operate manually or automatically. Excellent choice for the beginner or experienced. A wide range of focal lengths, all in one compact lens!
I purchased this for my brother who is really an entry level photographer. He has owned his Sony for senev years and taken less than 10 photos. He is now interested in learning how to use the camera so I got him a lens to complement the wide angle that came with the unit. I have tried it out, and the quality of the lens is much better than the one that comes with the unit. It is not bad for an entry level person, but does not take you much beyond that.
