Not these ones, these are truly, the first pair of gaming headphones that feel completely comfortable to me, the padding on the ears and head is amazing, feels so soft and airy. I usually play Rainbow six siege for about 4 to 5 hours on one night on the weekends, and oh wow, never felt tiresome at all. The padding is so soft and silky and treat them with extremely care, as because of that, feels like you need to treat it with care, I don't know how long it will last, but I hope long. The constructions is a white plastic, ala PS5, but feels well done, they include a type C USB charging cable (which should be the norm already), the USB dongle (about the size of a regular USB thumb drive, it has a switch on it to change from PC to PS5 mode) an the headphones themselves (would have been great if they included a carrying bag).Setup on my PC was easy (of course, fully charge them first). The you just plug the USB receiver to any USB port and then turn on the headphones, they will auto pair. The you go to Sony's Inzone HUB website and download the latest version and it will recognize them. You can use them right there, but if you want to take advantage of their spatial audio, you must download their 360 audio setup app (the inzone hub will guide you) on your phone, then you login with your Sony account in the Inzone HUB (you can use your playstation account or create a new sony account), and then the software will direct you to the phone app. Once on the phone app you log in with the SAME account you used for the Inzone HUB pc software. It will guide you through the process of taking pictures of your ear lobes (very easy) and once its done, it will send that information to the PC software and all done. I guess it does the same thing as the PS5 for its tempest 3D audio that personalizes the 3D spatial audio according to your ear lobes shapes etc. I can't attest that the spatial audio works great and does not sound fake like many other solutions out there. I could hear sounds front, behind, above and below on Rainbow siege six, which is super important to pinpoint enemies.I didn't sound flat at all.You can change many settings in the Inzone HUB PC software, like EQ (there are some presets, and you can customize them), mic sidetone, mic auto gain, dynamic range etc. Very complete software hub I must say. I only wish it would display the battery percentage (it only does a battery icon that changes, but does not say the percentage left, hope they update that), but so far I have gamed two days on one charge and the battery has been amazing and not gone down past half. Sony's claim of 40 hours maybe close! Finally apart from controlling many things on the HUB, the headphones themselves have some on them. Like a power button, a chat/game level button and a volume rocker (I like that it has clicky steps, you can feel when you are upping and lowering the volume tacitly). Finally the mic can mute if you flip it up. Oh, and it has a bluetooth pairing button, yeah! Apart from using the USB receiver you can pair these with any bluetooth music device, like your phone and rock music or phone calls on them while gaming!I highly recommend these for PC or PS5 gaming, Sony has outdone themselves (comparing them with previous pulse headsets, pulse 3d, golds etc), these are a step up!!

Yes, silence. The games I played were pretty much silent. Whether the game makers of my time were stifled by technology (or lack of) or imagination I do not know - but sound was either absent or minimal.Game makers of today have realised that we feel much more of what we hear than what we see. When was the last time you looked at something that made the hairs on the back of your neck prickle? Probably never, but sound has the ability to do this time and time again so audio has become a big part of gaming - they even hand out awards for those sweeping gaming soundtracks.I'm quietly (pun intended) delighted that my kids have become gamers, this gives me the excuse to indulge too - I get serious brownie points at home for keeping the kids occupied and entertained when I sneak off to join them in whatever the game of the moment is. We're lucky, the four of us have all got a console each and when we squad together the laughter, the passion and the JOY we share is palpable. Our family works as a team to defeat Baron Whatshisface or Brian the alien from Mars. Smiles all round, win or lose. They are better than me of course, their fingers (and minds) working at lightning pace compared to mine - but they protect me, they coach me and they take care of me in whichever far flung island we're exploring. It's a nice feeling for them, and for me.But I'm getting better, I'm getting sharper - all thanks to sound. I've started using the INZONE H7's and they've given me an edge that they don't have. I hear things that they miss. I get more notice when someone is creeping up on me readying to attack. I can hear the re-load way before them.Whilst I'm still not as good as them (and without the ability to turn back time never will be), I can compete better and surprise them when I'm unexpectedly one or more steps ahead of them. The ability of this headset to place sound with such precision amazes me, all credit to Sony and the game makers for caring so much about sound. Whilst my kids are not playing with cotton wool in their ears they are missing a good chunk of detail. It's a shame as the efforts of the creators can't fully be appreciated without this headset - imagine if the Motown greats had been recorded not in the Motown Studios and therefore lacking that Motown signature sound - they wouldn't be the same, they maybe would be only half as good. What would be wasted on the kids though is the quality of sound re-production, whilst gunshots and explosions and the quiet footsteps in a dark corner can be utterly terrifying mid game they'd overlook (overhear?) the depth and warmth of the in-game soundtracks - the stuff away from the action - the stuff only the "just-over-middle-aged" are allowed to enjoy.I'm tempted to write that all is not perfect, but instead I'll say more accurately that all is not clear. It's not clear why the supplied dongle is required to pair the Headset to a Sony PS5 for example, whilst the dongle is cute and has a funky white light I don't understand why it cannot pair natively. I'm sure there must be a good technical reason why not.At the time of writing the apps (certainly for iOS) were not available to tweak the settings and update the firmware. I'm sure these will appear soon. Or why any of this just can't be done directly via the PS5.What is clear though, is the difference the Headset makes to my enjoyment of gaming. The shared joy gaming with my kids cannot be beaten, but the joy I alone get from gaming has gone up a level for sure. Just as clear is the effort Sony have gone to regarding sustainability, the packaging is the best I have seen for recycling - gone are the days of keeping boxes as trophies (quite right too - recycle asap), Sony have made the packaging fully recyclable.Inevitably the kids have had a go, they are all impressed and of course all want a pair of their own (thanks Sony, NOT!) as they all praised the good sound, the good fit, the clear microphone and the comfort of wearing them for much longer periods than the odd hour I can personally squeeze in. In fact, I couldn't be certain which one of them has them squirrelled away for their own use right now.A gap in my life has been filled, a gap that first appeared for me in the 70's. I can only wonder what the addition of a roaring jet engine in 360 surround would have made to my 2 dotted lines and blinking cursor.

The ear pads are so cosy and what a must have feature for hours of gaming. The microphone is excellent and has a great but simple feature allowing you to talk by dropping down and in the up position when you want to mute!We use various games and during this time the feature was absolutely fantastic in regards to the sound wow! This allowed us to have the opportunity to be able to 1st of all experience the incredible base feature as well as the enhancement of low-frequency high-frequency particularly during gaming. The wireless headset itself allows you to feature I’ve been able to as always use your headset without having to use a cable this may seem simple but these headsets are incredible when it comes to making sure that you don’t miss a beat and you’re fully synchronised within the game. Many features are included but what I would say is the comfort throughout the entire time that we’ve been using the headset has very much set the headsets separate to other headsets both wireless and wires that we have used particularly in regards to comfort and the ability to engage with other gamers during your experience. What very much stood out was the sound … Wow! Especially during music soundtracks as this is something we look for in a premium set of headphones. You’re gaming experience and phenomenal sound is supported by a razor sharp spatial acoustic sound that allows you to embrace the stunning sound from each song tracks for various games. These wireless headsets are the must have’s in our household and it looks like Sony have produced a gem once again!

Great sound & comfort but doesn't do anything new

Sony's first deep dive into the hyper-competitive/hyper-crowded gaming headset market is a home-run in many respects. However, the premium price for the Sony name makes it a little hard to unequivocally recommend over very similar performers that clock in at more wallet-friendly prices, especially given that there really isn't a lot new going on here. That said, if you like the styling, especially to complement your PS5, and you respect or are a fan of Sony's products, I feel comfortable in saying you will probably be VERY happy with the INZONE H7. If you are jealously guarding your pennies and wonder if these are worth the scratch over other similarly featured wireless headsets, that answer is a little more subjective.Despite its largish size, the H7 is surprisingly light. Generous letherette-covered padding on the headband, along with a wider curvature of the headband itself, helps spread the headset's weight through a pretty large arc across the top of the head (at least for me, this helps reduce hotspot fatigue during long sessions). The earpads feature similarly pillow-soft foam padding though the fabric covering that touches the skin is nylon rather than the pricier H9's "soft-fit leather." The result is a slightly less premium feeling, but I am not sure it's any less comfortable, and it certainly does not seem to keep the heat trapped in the way leatherette can. The earcups themselves are stadium-shaped but the pad openings aren't quite as big as the large earcups would suggest; on my adult cranium, the pads overlap the bottoms of my earlobes, though the rest of my ears fit inside the pads quite comfortably. The earcups rotate through more than 90 degrees and fold perfectly flat for easier storage/stowage. The rotating action of the earcup hangers is fairly loose so the earcups will kind of flop and wobble when you take the headset off. In fact, the overall plastic construction feels somewhat light--not necessarily cheap-feeling, but it has an overall sort of "looseness" that says to me "this isn't quite a premium product." It also suggests you might need to take a little extra care with these headphones to get your money's worth for the long haul as I don't know how much punishment they can withstand. Sadly, there is no included storage case or even a drawstring sack to help protect them when not in use. The earcups themselves adjust at the ends of thick retractable rods (as opposed to most headsets' flat headband extensions) and provide a good 1.5" of travel; those sizing rods also offer a reassuring click-stop mechanism to hold the headband size adjustments in place through donning/doffing. Given their light weight and somewhat loose feeling overall, inward clamping pressure was still surprisingly sturdy enough to keep them on my head, though they did start to move around if I twisted and turned my head more vigorously (though this is probably a bit of an unrealistic use case outside of dance or rock band simulators). For my adult male head with a 7 5/8" hat size, I found the H7s to be VERY comfortable. The lift-to-mute microphone feels solid and durable; the rotating mechanism itself works smoothly and effortlessly, yet it will keep the boom in place even if only partially deployed or flipped up. The memory wire inside the boom held its shape even after hours of use--this is a nice change of pace from some of boom mics I've seen on other headsets that slowly drip back out of place. Mic performance was also very good with excellent vocal quality that offered only the *slightest* hint of tinny overtones. In real-world use, it worked exceptionally well at isolating my voice from background noise; on telephone calls, listeners reported that they could not hear the nearby PC or its many fans, the droning of the air conditioner's blower overhead, or my dog incessantly licking its fur on the seat next to me.Sony usually does pretty well in the usability department and this headset offers a nice array of physical controls that are fairly easy and intuitive to use by feel alone. The left earcup only features a textured rotating volume dial (and the USB-C charging port), while the right earcup places the round power button far enough towards the front that you would be hard-pressed to ever accidentally press it. The Bluetooth pairing/switching button is oblong in shape and is placed directly at the bottom of the left earcup, while the volume/chat mixer is a 2-ended rocker-type switch placed higher up. When in BT mode, the BT button also acts as a play/pause or call answer/hang-up button--nice if your H7 is serving double duty on your PC/PS5 and your phone. The different shapes and wide spacing between the controls make it very unlikely you would ever mistake one control for another by feel alone. The USB dongle is a bit on the long side, clocking in around the size of a bulky USB thumb drive; it has a single switch on the side that lets you toggle between PS5 and PC functionality. When wirelessly connected to the H7s, the entire end of the dongle lights up (and stays lit) with a confirmatory white rectangle that is easily visible from across the room--this ensures you always have a nice visual indicator of whether your headset is connected or not.Sadly, Sony didn't pack quite as many nice-to-haves into its audio status indicators; power on, connection status, BT pairing, etc., are all communicated through a series of not-entirely-intuitive tones of varying pitch and patterns rather than offering clearly spoken prompts and status updates. There is also a bit of play with the lift-to-mute action so that you can partially raise and lower the boom for ideal placement of the pickup without muting the mic entirely. However, a confirmation tone when the mic is muted or live again would definitely have been appreciated--fully deploying or folding up the microphone offers no audible mic status indicator at all.Out of the box tuning was surprisingly VERY good. Bass is taut and palpable with just the right bit of chest-thumping oomph to get the blood moving, but it was not boomy or overbearing at all. Mids sounded forward and full-bodied, not hollowed out for the sake of emphasizing an exaggerated V-shaped EQ; and highs were fast and sparkly without being harsh or fatiguing. Whether streaming music, watching movies, or running a pretty frenetic shooter onscreen, the H7s sounded authoritative and quite FUN, and I never felt like I was really missing anything in the soundtrack. Note however that although BT resolution was a bit higher, the USB dongle maxes out at 16bit/48Khz resolution; this is DVD quality audio which is still very good, but you won't quite be getting full resolution on the PC if you stream AmazonMusic HD or other high-rez music services. However, it was pretty cool to mix audio from a live phone call with a game running in the background--being able to use the chat/game volume mixer to also mix USB audio with BT audio at the same time is kind of a neat feature to have, especially for those times when a game's voice chat feature breaks down, but you still want to do some online gaming with your friends over the phone. With the INZONE app (PC only), Sony tried to up the ante with a few more features, some of which hit the mark--others, not quite so much. Using the INZONE Hub, you can set the headset's master volume, adjust game/chat mix, adjust mic sidetone, and turn on the mic auto-gain control to normalize the volume of your voice for those listening at the distant end. You can also tweak the headset's sound with personal sound profiles using the provided 10-band EQ with 12dB of boost and cut per band (or use the built-in Flat, Bass Boost, or Music/Video EQ settings). Dynamic range control is also available--like when you want to watch a movie late at night without disturbing others, this can help even out the maximum volume differences between the very loudest and very softest passages of an audio signal to make elements of the soundtrack easier to hear. The INZONE H7 also offers its own take on simulated surround sound. Using another app (360 Spatial Sound Personalization) you download to your phone, you use it and your phone's camera to capture photos of your ears. The photos are sent to Sony's severs where supposedly a custom audio profile that matches your unique anatomy is produced and then returned to the INZONE app to be used for Spatial Sound processing. Honestly, the effect was...okay. Yes, you can absolutely hear a greater sense of space and depth when INZONE's Spatial Sound is activated, and it does provide some measure of discrete sound-source localization for some noticeable panning and audio movement effects. BUT, I found Sony's Spatial soundfield was just a bit--subtle and kind of narrow all around; and I tried re-running the personalization process several times just to make sure I wasn't getting oddball results from a bad ear picture or something. For complex/busy game audio, I found Spatial Sound was a bit less enveloping, a little less expansive, and a little less smooth/continuous than Dolby Atmos, and I found pinpoint accuracy also lagged behind Atmos and maybe even slightly behind DTS Headphone:X's discrete imaging as well. Don't get me wrong, if you haven't paid for Atmos or DTS separately, Sony's Spatial Sound feature is a nice way to sweeten the deal for the H7s, but I wouldn't personally let my purchasing decision hinge on that feature alone as the results were sadly underwhelming. So, is the H7 a good buy? It's wireless, stylish, comfortable, has great sound, really good mic performance, and offers some useful in-app customization. However, a lot of competitors can say the same thing, and the extra price the H7 commands doesn't deliver the kind of premium-feeling construction you might expect, or offer anything really new and unique in the sound or functionality departments. I still recommend the H7s, but it's not really a *great* value at its current price.

Inzone H7 - a new 7th heaven headset for gamers
20 July 2022

I found Sony’s new Inzone H7 wireless gaming headset to be beautifully designed and supremely comfortable to wear for long periods. These headphones, weighing only 325 grams, have a broad, conformingly cushioned headband which distributes weight lightly and evenly and soft, close-fitting earcups with volume, microphone and USB charging controls on the left side and power, Bluetooth, and game/chat balance controls on the right. A high-quality, bidirectional, easily shaped microphone is located on the left earcup – off when positioned vertically and on when horizontal. A very useful feature is the Game/Chat function allowing game noise to be reduced and the talk function increased both for gaming allies and telephone calls. One full charge provides up to forty hours of continuous play with a ten-minute boost yielding another full hour of gaming. These innovative design characteristics are surpassed only by the headset’s wonderful sound quality. Installing the Sony Inzone Hub software on a computer, and linking the headset with the transceiver supplied, permits a constellation of specialist audio enhancements, all derived from Sony’s sound research, including selecting and customising the Equalizer settings, adjusting the dynamic range, and setting the spatial sound. For example, in gaming mode, 360-degree spatial sound may enable one opponent to sense the presence of another even before they are seen. In my experience, setting both the bass boost and the spatial sound to on, and the dynamic range to high compartmentalises sound with stunning clarity giving clear, crisp high frequencies, powerful bass effects and a sustained, authentic, distortion-free midrange. These many features far outweigh active noise cancellation which is unavailable on this headset. Older audiophiles will certainly appreciate the online help and support for this product available on the Sony website as well as printed materials in ten different languages. In summary, not only will the H7 headset provide a fully immersive adversarial experience for Play Station Five gamers, complete with realistic explosions and gunfire, but in moments of tranquillity the warm stereo textures of recital, concert hall and operatic performances will be also equally enjoyed by serious music-lovers.

Lightweight, capable gaming headset

Traditionally Sony's gaming gear has always been a bit more closely associated with their consoles, but they're far from strangers when it comes to producing quality PC gear either. Their new Inzone line offers an interesting departure from the norm: high quality, feature rich gear suitable for both consoles and PCs that stand apart more for their minimalist, distinctive styling and high tech flourishes than RGB laden excess. The lightweight headset with its striking PS5 inspired design is packed with tech to deliver an optimized gaming experience with minimal bulk. The core feature set should be very familiar to anyone who's tried a gaming headset recently. Connectivity is provided either via a dedicated RF dongle or Bluetooth, with the former providing slightly higher audio quality and reliability. A clicky volume control wheel is placed on the left side, with minimal controls to switch between PC and Console modes, power, and Bluetooth pairing on the left. If you're just after a quick plug-and-play experience, you can be up and running more or less immediately and get the full benefit of Sony's excellent audio pedigree. Paired with their free Inzone hub software, however, and you unlock one of the better 3D audio experiences I've seen from headsets boasting simulated surround sound. Most of this is down to Sony's research into binaural audio, which takes advantage of the shape of your ear to create a more natural soundscape. Sony's taken this approach a step further than most by incorporating software that analyzes an image of your ear and fine tunes the output to your specific ear shape rather than just using a generic model. This is a feature that's shown up a lot in their headsets and earbuds lately, and I have to say that it really comes into its own here. The environmental audio in games is fantastic, particularly when it comes to simulating echo-rich environments and enemy footsteps. I'm not sure it's going to give you any kind of competitive advantage, but it certainly helps for immersion. Also helping the H7 stand out is the fact that the headset is very comfortable to wear for prolonged play sessions. As bulky as it appears at first glance the headset feels like it weighs next to nothing when you're putting it on. I also appreciated that the soft, very breathable earcups don't do much to trap heat while still doing at least a decent job of noise isolation. My one concern is that they don't really appear to be designed for easy removal or replacement and may be a bit too porous to regularly wipe clean, but truth be told I've found headsets often don't last long enough for that to be necessary anyway.I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a more immersive headset option for VR, sims, and multiplayer games, or overall fans of Sony's current monochromatic aesthetic.

Really comfortable and light, sound is good

The Sony INZONE H7 headset looks like a fairly bulky, but the fact is the headset is quite lite! The headset borrows style points from the PS5 and matched the plates that come preinstalled on the console. The headset also has some cushions that are really comfortable they are great for long sessions and soft enough that I can slide my glasses on and off, and not feel the pressure of the bands on the side of my head. The headset ear cups move fairly independently on a point which I think helps since they can sit without too much pressure thanks to thae design. The Headset takes advantage of the 3D Spatial audio to create a more immersive experience, the headset itself sounds fairly good. I'm not too into messing with EQs, but I feel the default sound profile works good for gaming. In battle royales it is easy to tell which side of you battles are happening, and the 3D sound is helpful in Returnal to know enemies are attacking from the side or back while battling others to help react.I love headsets that can use simultaneous bluetooth and 2.4GHz, so I typically have it paired to my phone so I can listen to music freely and control it separately than with my console or PC, and can easily watch vids or anything else i'd like while between matches or waiting for my squad to respawn me :-) The USB receiver works similar to the Playstation Pulse headset and has a toggle for PC or PS5, I do prefer this headset over my pulse and enjoy having a boom mic that mutes when you have it positioned up.Overall, I am happy with this headset and it is currently my favorite headset to jump back and forth between my PS5 and PC. The headset is a little bit of a spike over the H3, but I really don't like being tethered to my console or having to put my headset down to walk over and grab something away from the couch. H7 don't have the noise cancelling of the H9 but I think the noise isolation with these pads are well enough!

Sony H7 Gaming Headset Great for Gaming and Music
23 July 2022

Sony have launched three new Gaming Headsets, the wired Inzone H3, and the wireless Inzone H7 and H9 (The H9 has noise cancelling capability), and I have been asked by Sony to undertake a review of the Inzone H7.In keeping with Sony's aim to help the planet, the packaging is all cardboard, and there are no plastic inserts. There is sufficient information printed on the outer sleeve to describe what is inside and the inner box is simply a sturdy black cardboard box, with the only printing being on the inner lid showing three steps on how to start getting connected to either a Mobile Phone, PS5 or PC (pics 1-3) and I had no problems connecting the headset to my Android Phone and Windows 10 Laptop, after downloading the INZONE APP SOFTWARE from the web ... MoreSony have launched three new Gaming Headsets, the wired Inzone H3, and the wireless Inzone H7 and H9 (The H9 has noise cancelling capability), and I have been asked by Sony to undertake a review of the Inzone H7.In keeping with Sony's aim to help the planet, the packaging is all cardboard, and there are no plastic inserts. There is sufficient information printed on the outer sleeve to describe what is inside and the inner box is simply a sturdy black cardboard box, with the only printing being on the inner lid showing three steps on how to start getting connected to either a Mobile Phone, PS5 or PC (pics 1-3) and I had no problems connecting the headset to my Android Phone and Windows 10 Laptop, after downloading the INZONE APP SOFTWARE from the web site.Contained within the box is the H7 Headset, a 2.4GHz Wireless Receiver (with side button to select between PS5 or PC), and a USB-C charging cable (but no charging plug). There are a few information leaflets, but there is NO Instruction Manual, (this can be downloaded and printed from the Sony Website), and there isn't a Case to store the headset in, both of which I feel really should be included in view of the retail price of this product.Gaming Headsets are usually distinguishable by there Bold Graphics and colours, and I suspect that those probably appeal more to the "younger generation", so first impressions are that the Headset appears to be an understated design, being simply white with black underneath the headband and black ear pads(Pics 4/5). However, there are now lots of "older generation" gamers out there, who may no longer want something quite so "In your Face" and so this headset fits the bill nicely. Not only that, as well as being great for gaming they can equally be used out and about as a decent pair of audio headphones, with call facilities, when listening to music, the bluetooth button (by pressing it quickly 1,2 or 3 times) can be used to pause music, select next track, or select previous track, (NB:I could only get it to restart the same track, but maybe that was a problem with my phone). The headset definitely looks and feels well made, and very sturdy, there is nothing flimsy about it, and with care they should last a very long time. I found it to be a really good fit and the ear pads are soft and very comfortable and so it can be worn for long periods of time. Sony say the ear pads are breathable, but my ears did still start to feel a little warm after a while, but to be honest this happens with all the "over ear" headphones I have ever used, and its not really an issue for me. The only minor point is that, being white, it did tend to pick up marks from the wooden table I was using. The boom Microphone is incorporated into the left hand ear cup, and is activated/deactivated by flipping up or down. There is a USB-C charging port and a black scroll button for the master volume. (pic 6) On the right hand ear cup there is the On/Off Power Button, Bluetooth Button, and Game/Chat buttons, (the latter enables you to switch the emphasis from in game sounds to chat and vice versa).(Pic 7)NB IMPORTANT: You need to check that the sound settings on your PC are correct (right click on the volume icon in taskbar and select sound settings), then where it says "choose your OUTPUT device" you select "Inzone H7/GAME and NOT Inzone H7/Chat (See Pics 8/9), it does appear to adversely affect the sound quality, and the Game/Chat buttons won't work properly if it is set at "Chat". Also just make sure that the INPUT device is showing as Headset Microphone CHAT.INZONE HUB SOFTWARE:I primarily use my PC for gaming, so the Inzone App, which is specifically for these headsets, does have some really useful features.(pics 10/11) The first one is that it identifies if your headset is connected ok as a headset icon appears together with various settings options. There is a battery status indicator, a microphone icon showing if it is on or off, and whether you are connected to a device via bluetooth, and that brings me to one really neat feature in that you can connect the headset to your PC and Mobile phone and use BOTH at the same time. You can still make and receive calls whilst in game, and if you want to you can also listen to music from your device. The volume controls for my Pc and mobile phone worked independently of each other, with the scroll wheel on the headset adjusting the overall volume of both.Within the Inzone App there are the options to adjust:-1. Sound Settings:Their is a Graphic Equaliser and this can be quickly set to "Bass Boost", "Flat" or "Music/Video" and there is also an option to customise the equaliser settings. There is a 360 Spatial Sound Facility, which 'widens' the sounds that you hear around you, although on occasions I felt that it could be a little "echoey" so a button allowing you to increase or reduce this effect would have been useful, but you can turn it off if you prefer. The spatial sound effect can apparently be personalised for you by uploading photos of your ears, using your mobile phone, and was relatively easy to do following the clear instructions. I am not really certain if this has any effect on the overall sound quality and may only be a marketing gimmick, but with Sony developing their 360 Reality Audio, it may be that every little helps. You can also select Dynamic Range with the options of High, low or off.Once you have tweaked the various sound settings, you can save them by creating a Sound Profile for that particular game. You can therefore adjust the settings for different games by simply creating a new profile for each game.In sound settings you can also adjust the Master Volume, Game/Chat balance (as well as via the headset), and microphone, but unfortunately these cannot be saved in the individual "Game Profiles". There is also another neat feature called "Sidetone". This enables you to increase or reduce the amount of your own voice that you can hear through your headset whilst talking, which is a good way of checking that your mic is switched on. But it also enables you to hear the sounds around you, and this is great if you are expecting a visitor or parcel delivery, just turn it up to Full and you can hear the doorbell.2.Device Settings:Here you can adjust how long before the device powers off, whether bluetooth is turned on or off each time, and with the bluetooth connection, whether you want to have priority on sound quality or a stable connection....(NB:none of these features can be saved in the Sound Profile for individual games).3.App Sync Settings: I have got to say that the online instructions are limited, and so far I have not been able to find out what this feature actually does.USING THE HEADPHONES:1. Game Sound Quality: I was immediately pleased with how clear and solid the sound quality was on these headphone and very immersive. I could hear the direction of the sounds around me, and where the enemy were moving around, and in fact I could tell when they were about to come into view around a corner...except when they were being stealthy of course. I was advised by friends in game that the microphone sounded clear, and with no issues, and you can also adjust the emphasis on Chat or Game sounds by using the Game/Chat buttons on the headset, (but ensure PC sound settings are correct as mentioned above).2. Music Sound Quality: When connected to my Android Phone and listening to music, it is clear that these are compatible with Sony's own 360 Reality Audio "a new immersive music experience that uses Sony‘s (object-based) 360 Spatial Sound technology" . Consequently these can be used as normal headphones as well as a gaming headset, and the sound quality is very good. The headset supports the SBC and AAC bluetooth codecs, but not Sony's high quality LDAC codec, and it would have been nice if I could have connected them to Sony's Headphone App on my mobile phone to tweak the equaliser and spatial sound settings.3. Battery Life is excellent, Sony claim this is approx 40 hours using just game and chat, but this can reduce to 25 hours if connected for phone calls via bluetooth, and even less if you are listening to music at the same time, as you would expect. As well as the staus indicator in the Inzone App, an orange light will flash when the battery gets lower than 20%, but Sony claim that just 10 minutes on charge will give an extra hours play time.In conclusion, this is a great wireless Gaming Headset, comfortable and sturdy, and easy to use and with some really useful features. They generate a good multi dimensional sound quality which makes your games more immersive. Furthermore with a clean design they can be use used as normal audio headphones, without looking "Garish" and whilst in my opinion the sound quality wasn't quite as crisp clear as the Sony noise cancelling audio headphones that I own, it is still very good and so if you could only afford one headset, and you are into gaming, then these are well worth having. The ability to connect to Sony's Headphone app on a mobile phone and to adjust the Inzone Spatial settings would have been nice additional features.....and maybe a storage case.

The Sony Inzone H7 Wireless Gaming Headset

I must start by saying that the packing is excellent a lot of thought has gone into the design of this and I don’t think any plastic has been used ~ I would say it’s a 100% recyclable and minimalist but functional. The documents included are also the bear minimum which is great, they do include a sticker sheet though! I didn’t need any instructions to get me started which I liked. The H7 headset is very comfortable to wear, even after a couple of hours, the padding on the head band is brilliant, you’d hardly know you had headset on. The ear pieces are also well engineering soft on the ears and provide good sound insulation. Let’s also not forget they are wireless no cable to get caught up in allowing much more freedom of movement! The wireless USD dongle works ... MoreI must start by saying that the packing is excellent a lot of thought has gone into the design of this and I don’t think any plastic has been used ~ I would say it’s a 100% recyclable and minimalist but functional. The documents included are also the bear minimum which is great, they do include a sticker sheet though! Let’s also not forget they are wireless no cable to get caught up in allowing much more freedom of movement! The wireless USD dongle works extremely well, Windows 10 detects & configures it as it should, there is a light built into the front of it which flashes when configuring the remains on solid white (not sure that this is necessary possibly a waste of energy?).The dongle also has a slider switch on the side to select PC or Sony PS5 mode.I have only used these on my PC to date to play Minecraft and couple of Star Wars Games, I’ve listened to music and live sport too and I must say I’m extremely impressed with the sound quality which is amazing ~ especially when the 360 Spatial Sound is configured using the App on my iPhone to measure my ears creating a personal hearing profile! I couldn’t get this to work automatically but to be honest the manual setup using the camera is simple as is the integration with Inzone App on my Windows PC.The Inzone Hub, which is easy to download and configure contains a Graphics Equalizer with settings for various sound profiles pre-configured this is a good piece of software, again easy to install. The flip up/flip down microphone is a well thought out nice feature too.The buttons on the earcups which control features like volume and Game/Chat could have been better ergonomically designed but that’s being a bit picky.Overall, I’m really pleased with these and would recommend them I do like Sony products and am pleased they are moving into the gaming arena.
