Sony MCX-500 4-Input Streaming Switcher
Sony s MCX 500 4 Input Production Streaming/Recording Switcher is much more than just a portable four input switcher. It is a global system that supports both 60 and 50 Hz production formats so you can work with it virtually anywhere in the world. Four 3G SDI inputs two HDMI and two composite CVBS inputs each feature a discrete frame synchronizer allowing you to mix input sources. The unit internally processes the input footage at 1080i. The MCX 500 combines a manual control surface with a touchscreen LCD that you can control locally or from a networked device. As you would expect from a professional mixer cut mix wipe and key effects are built into the unit. In addition to the program and multiview preview outputs the switcher can also live stream to services such as Ustream via Ethernet without requiring additional hardware. Likewise the MCX 500 can record the program stream to an SD card which is not included via the built in SD card slot. Beyond just the video switching capabilities it is also a 5 channel audio mixer. You can control the switcher remotely via Mac PC or a tablet.

I have unit but have yet to use it in the field. I live stream using Vmix. Vmix is computer based software that allow you to stream, record, replay, overlay titles, and more. Computers are great and troubling. They do so much "great".They do to much, "not so great". They crash. The Sony MCX500 doesn't do many of these things. The great thing about the Sony is the input. You don't need dongles to get cameras into the unit, that make it stable. It works with the Sony Remote RM30 BP great. The Sony MCX500 doesn't live stream via Wifi, good and bad.sometime you just don't have access to a wired connection. If I learn more, I'll post..

Expected release, negative for Sony. Delay in launching
This is a great unit, we are using this in a Church for multiple camera switching, simultaneous output to Propresenter 7, recording, and streaming to the internet. All of the negative comments below refer to the pre-release of the latest firmware, all platforms supported (RTMPS now supported), streaming is easy to set up and works flawlessly. Having the ability to record XAVC S 1080P in the unit is great as I having numerous outputs. Inputs are solid. Loaded up the unit works solidly. It's a fantastic unit, I would say one of the best and well worth your consideration.
Bought this unit almost exclusively for encode/streaming functionality. Firmware update to 2.11 was great until Facebook discontinued the RTMP service.*This unit can no longer stream to Facebook*Youtube streaming is fine so far.
It can be very complicated to set up for use on web.
I just had to post a review to try and boost the score a bit after some outdated reviews. The firmware update makes steaming with this switcher to Facebook and YouTube a snap. We will be buying a 2nd unit soon I hope. Great product if you need a simple switcher with a WEB GUI, built-in recording, and easy live streaming.
does not accept Mac input, there is no way to activate or deactivate HDCP. streaming only to Ustream, no ability to use your own provider.
This is a good product for event shoot plz let me know when the product is being launched
