Nicely sharp enough small size makes a great kit zoom.

I am amazed at how small and sharp this little lens is. I am actually using it on my Sony A1 as a walk-around lens because it is so small, yet makes great pictures. This tiny 28-60mm lens is very sharp! It find it to be significantly sharper than the Sony-Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 lens, even approaching my Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens. It is weather-sealed, has virtually no chromatic aberration, low flare, reasonable bokeh, and has linear focus motors for fast AF. Sure it is a "kit lens" but, my goodness, it's a good one. The lens was made as a kit lens for the (rather expensive) Sony A7c, so it had to be high quality. According to Sony, it is the smallest and lightest zoom lens for a 35mm camera. It is nearly pancake in size, yet has a reasonable zoom range (28-60mm). I ... MoreI am amazed at how small and sharp this little lens is. This is a great little compact full frame Zoom for the Sony Alpha series. It's quite sharp for a kit lens with little distortion or aberration, and it's really a pancake-sized lens when retracted. 28-60 mm is a stone's throw from much larger 28-70 mm zooms, and it's perfect match for the A7C, which is what I used it with. At a standalone price at original retail, it's a bit expensive, but at the price I paid, it's a bargain. It makes the A7C a great travel/street shooter that you can keep with you all the time. A great full frame combo that's always available at hand is something one would not have thought possible even a few years ago. Excellent buy.

This is a good travel lens, but I am disappointed that to close the lens sown to travel etc, it is necessary to move it to a position that locks it from not only zoom but focus as well.
The small size and weight is great. Seems solidly built. Mostly sharp. Corners and edges a bit soft. Some primes are better there. Small apertures make this best for outdoor, daylight photography.
Very small; light; exceptionally sharp for being a Kit lens. Really great value. I'll use it on a A7r2, underwater in a Nautacam housing...
Good lens but limited units range and aperture. Its biggest strength lies in its size. Its compact, lite and well suited for travel.
Sony FE 28-60mm small & pretty sharp image. Indeed is a very kit lens!
Very good lens and saved hundreds from the Sony price.
This Sony 28-60 short zoom is a nice sharp no-excuses variable-normal lens for my Sony A7. Won't impress passersby, but takes wonderful pix.
