I had been wanting an I pod classic for some time but was always put off by the price & others discussing registering need to use ITUNES, conflicting with web pages etc. I wanted to listen to music mainly and to have a good battery life for flights going on holiday. I brought the NWZ-S545 16 GB for myself I was so impressed I got the NWZ-444 8 GB in red for my wife's birthday, and have just brought the NWZ E455 16GB for my son at Christmas. They are all pretty similar about the size of the Nanno the battery life is great, you DON'T need expensive I tunes either but you can use them, as well as MP3, WAV, and other formats it's a simple drag and drop system, I simply use Windows Media player and sync files which is all very simple. All models I brought have a BUILT IN FM RADIO WITH PRESETS which you can record onto the device (check specification). You can download PODCASTS FROM THE BBC. They Charge up from the USB port on your computer & tells you when fully charged, but I have also brought both a 230V & a 12V cigarette USB charger for the car, ( I got both together for less than a fiver on E-Bay) it has a gauge on the screen for condition of charge, and after it shows only one mark on that it flashes after that and still gives a good amount left for about 45 mins to an hour I would estimate allowing you never to be caught out with an empty charge. I read a lot of reviews before buying some saying the sound quality is better than IPOD. I have upgraded the earphones for ear buds of a decent quality for about 25 which I would strongly recommend. The Sony Walkman's metal case seems robust feels nicely built and is simple to use,I have over 4000 songs on the 16 GB. It won't need a plug in radio like the I pod or expensive accessories. You could also get a plug in FM transmitter on E-Bay to play through the car stereo if you wish. Do yourself a favour and rebel against the Apple brand, save money, buy a superior product in my opinion and enjoy!

This is an excellent MP3 player for someone like me who does not need to carry 10,000 songs. I do however have close to 400 songs, and still have not filled the player up.The display is very nice as well. I have pictures on it and I am impressed with how clear they are on the small screen. I wanted this player mainly for music, thinking the screen would be too small for picture and video, but it is very nice for those as well. I have not added any videos of my own, but the "Surf's Up" trailer that comes with it is very sharp and clear.Another reason I chose this player is the built in rechargeable battery, and so far it has exceeded my expectations. I drive a lot in the course of the day and take this player in the car with me constantly. I have yet to run the ... I have yet to run the battery down completely, even when using it at home plugged into a speaker that draws power from the player battery. I really like the way the battery recharges from your computer. I can just plug it in and leave it while I pay bills online or while my kids are typing homework and it is done in no time. The sound quality is very good in this player and it is only a little more expensive than the iPod Shuffle, which has no screen for video and photos. There are also many options, including preset equalizers and 2 custom equalizers you can configure the way you want them. The FM radio with 30 presets has very good reception.I highly recommend this MP3 player. I have had bad experiences with other brands of players, but this Sony product did not disappoint.

What a great little MP3 Player. Long battery life...on board EQ....high gain volume output....thats enough for me. The software is not intuitive....but is manageable. Sounds good. Im gonna dig it. I'm psyched.

This is the third player I've had and the second I've purchased at Wal-Mart. I've had this player for three months and can't leave it alone for more than a few days. I love the versatility of this unit and think it's a great value for the functions it performs. The unit was very easy to load (practically plug & play!), the FM tuner does an auto scan for stations, the menus are simple enough for a beginner to use, and the equalizers give a customised quality of sound for more advanced users. I think that 2GB unit is great for casual to moderate users (800 songs); more hardcore music buffs (or more vids & pics) may want to go for the 4 or 8 GB units. My only problems with the unit were the ear-buds (they wouldn't stay in), and accidentally hitting the buttons when I ... Each were easily resolved- I got a different set of headphones and learned to use the hold button effectively. I did have a mildly difficult time finding a case for it, but finally found one built for a samsung player that fit very well (& didn't cost $30).I would highly recommed this player for an adult or teen, but I don't think a child would utilise all the functions (pics, vids, sound quality) and may want to go with a simpler player. (But, if your kid is screaming iPod! iPod! and has no clue what one really does, this unit does more for a far smaller price tag.)
A great little player. Solid construction. Superior ratings vs 8g (which apparently hangs). Currently testing 4g which also has excellent ratings. The sound is simply wonderful. Easy to use, easy to enjoy *grin*, Apparently newer walkmans suck but isn't that usually the case?
It's small and compact. This is my third Sony Walkman and they've certainly downgraded the materials. It's made of plastic, not metal, so it's much lighter, but there's no clock feature which is useful for running outside and checking your time, etc. Also the radio settings are not user-friendly. Once the stations are set, it's a challenge to go from one station to the next without exiting the radio option. So it's okay but not as easy to use as the previous versions.
My computer recognizes the Walkman and allowed me to add music but when I unplug the Walkman from the computer and I look for the music on the Walkman it just isn't there. I talked with two different CSR's from Sony and received case numbers but they could not figure out what is wrong because I tried all different ways with different adapters (thought maybe wasn't communicating properly) but still nothing. I even tried with my friend's computer and still no success. I don't want to have to return this but I have to give up since even the CSR's seem to be out of troubleshooting questions. :(
I just purchased the sony walkman. And i have to say I am very impressed with the quality of this mp3 player. I owned a motorola mp3 and it died on me with in two days. I compared this product with other mp3 and found it suited my needs more then the i-pods did. I have owned other walkman portable cd players and this one is by far the best player that i have owned by sony. The only bad thing about this player is you will need to buy different head phones for this mp3 like other players the original headphones are not very good. This player has exceeded my expectations and as i am writing this review i am listening to the walkman player the sound, performance and the lcd screen are of excellent quality. If you are into music as much as i am then this is a very very good buy for the price i dont think you can go wrong with this player. The software was easy to upload and syncing the player and creating lists was even easier. All in all i would buy another player just as a back up in case i broke this one. But i would recomend that you get a case for it and the headphones i would recommend are the Sony Walkman lightweight MDR-G42LP i have owned these headphones for a while and they work perfectly with this player as well and not expensive only 15.00 for the headphones.........
I was skeptical at first about the quality of this mp3 player, but this a very nice product from Sony. I really like the look, simple, straightforward design. I love the menus, very easy to understand, and the display is nice, I have the brightness set on 1 right now and I can read the display clearly. The battery is awesome, I still haven't used it up yet, playing it here and there for 2 days, not even one bar gone ! Plays music very well, however I do recommend getting some replacement earbuds, personally the included earbuds hurt my ears, as they are not silicone, but plastic, and "ok" sound quality, but that's just me. I did have some trouble with videos, it's picky on what formats it will play. MPEG-4 works great, anyone who is having trouble with programs to ... MPEG-4 works great, anyone who is having trouble with programs to convert from flash format, or whatever format, I would suggest searching for a converter they are usually free, just be careful of spyware etc. Or try Xilisoft, great program, That's it, great player for the money, just wish I would of got the 4 GB version.
I like having dedicated devices - phones that call, cameras that take photos - and mp3 players that play music. This Walkman boasts 30 hours of battery life per charge and has options for equalizers to get the best sound for your music. I needed to play six to eight hours of uninterrupted music and it certainly delivers - it takes a few days before it needs a charge. I also like that it's got a radio option built into it so that I can listen to NPR or local stations. My last Walkman mp3 player lasted me ten years so I knew the brand and what it could do. Putting on music onto it is as easy as drag and dropping files into it's folders, but you can also go through Sony Music Center - to copy files over. It can also play photos. One other great thing is that they've organized the artists, songs, and albums to make it easy to find just the one you're looking for and you spend less time looking for it and more time enjoying it.
