Unfortunately, there is no case but that is expected from this price point, however, a cloth pouch would have been a nice inclusion. The headphones are incredibly light but still feel pretty durable. Both the headband and earpads feel like they are made of memory foam, the earpads in particular are very comfortable and are easy to wear for long sessions. Initially, it looks as though there isn’t enough padding on the headband, when wearing them however, I felt there was just enough which made them fine for longer listening sessions. On the right earcup, you'll find the power/pairing button, volume/change track buttons, LED indicator, USB-C port and the built-in mic. All are well placed and I found operating the headphones fairly natural.FeaturesSetting up the CH520s was easy, once paired, the Sony Headphones app allows you to customise the equaliser and play around with the settings. The CH520s allow you to connect to 2 devices simultaneously; this is a new, must-have feature for me as it allowed me to listen to music whilst working on my laptop and as soon as a call came on my phone, I could answer it using the headphones without disconnecting and reconnecting my devices. Call quality was decent, not something I would describe as crystal clear, however, I had no complaints from anyone I was on the phone to.The battery life is claimed to be up to an astonishing 50 hours. However, from my use, I think they were probably slightly less, but still very impressive. The only feature I would have liked from Sony is support for their own LDAC Bluetooth codec for higher bitrates, however given the price point of these headphones, I think it is understandable to exclude this feature. They do however support AAC which produces good great sound quality.Sound qualityThe first thing that should be done with these headphones is connect them to the Sony Headphones app and customise the equaliser to your preference. Another setting worth turning on is DSEE (Sony's upscaling technology to help get even more quality from your sound). At this price point, I wasn't sure what to expect from the sound, especially when I am used to Sony's flagship headphones, however, the CH520s left a surprisingly good impression on me. Firstly, the volume is loud enough that I didn't need to leave the headphones on the max volume the whole time; and even at max volume, there is no noticeable distortion in the sound quality. I can see that with these, the main focus is good sound quality. The Bass was excellent, thick and clear, there was no muddiness to the bass whatsoever. The mids are also excellent for the price point as they were clear, and the separation was also very good. I wouldn't say these are bass-heavy headphones, but the bass is delivered in a really enjoyable way, there is definitely some power to the bass, however, it is not over the top. The highs are where these headphones struggle very slightly (although this is just the audiophile in me nit-picking). Whilst both male and female vocals are clear, I would say that at the very high end, I just get a sense that these headphones are struggling slightly and there is a lack of clarity. But again, given where these headphones sit in Sony's range, I think the sound quality is great and you still get some of what Sony is best at.ConclusionOverall, these headphones surprised me with how capable they are in terms of sound quality, they definitely have that great Sony sound quality. I would definitely recommend these headphones for the price point; especially for children as they are light and seem fairly durable while still offering good audio quality. They also make excellent home office headphones as they are light and comfortable enough to be worn for hours, have excellent battery life and can connect to 2 devices at the same time.

If you listen to sounds on the go and want a competitive priced set of Earphones then these are the ones to get because the look and sound brilliant without braking the bank. Perhaps a grater choice of colours might appeal to more peopletutorial on setting up the Apps and phones may be something to consider on future products.

They have a reported battery life of up to 50 hours and they also give you the option to have a quick 3 minute charge that gives you 90 minutes power. This is a handy feature, especially for commuting / travel. The Multipoint Connection enabling you to connect to 2 Bluetooth devices at the same is excellent. I was able to connect to my Laptop and phone at the same time and the call quality was clear too. General Bluetooth connections to other devices such as the TV was also easy. These really are a great pair of headphones, especially when you consider the price bracket.

Somehow the app captures and analyses your ear shape, allowing these headphones to create your own personal sound field when paired with BRAVIA XR™ TVs - I don't have this TV however for those that do this does offer a great additional feature so thought it was worth a mention as i had no ideaThe headphones connected well to my phone, there was no delay or loss of connection, the music was played responsively and the quality was great, yes it isn't the loudest headphone but for me it was more than ample, I didn't max out the volume and it was comfortable and enjoyableOverall, for an affordable headphone set that doesn't come with unnecessary waste and rubbish these are perfect - as mentioned above they have features which can enhance their quality or they can be used simply and they perform well, very well

I love the fact that the products now come in all paper packaging and is therefore fully recyclable. The Sony WH-CH520 headphones fold flat as the ear cups rotate making them easier to store and carry to work. There is enough adjustment on the headband to fit the average alien, so have proven comfortable for several hours of work Teams calls. The ear pads / cushions are also very comfortable and there is enough pressure to keep them secure on your head. There is a QR code to scan and download the headphone app – which I have found useful for setting up the equalizer to accommodate my taste in sound. I have some frequency hearing loss and this feature is a bonus for inexpensive headphones. I’m also impressed with the headphone app being able to take pictures of your ears to improve the spatial sound settings. I’ve only used the demo from 360 Reality Audio Live, but it’s very impressive. These over ear headphones have a great battery life (approx. 50hrs) listening to streaming music from my phone but I’m also able to use it connected to the work laptop or home computer for Teams calls etc. The feedback from my colleagues is that the audio quality on Teams is better than my old, wired headset. For me, the ability to pair with more than 1 device at the same time is a real bonus and saves me time and effort with switching between cabled headsets for work and wireless for listening to music. It was very easy to pair with the devices without any messing about with drivers or access codes. Call quality on the mobile and other messaging services is good and I’m still getting used to the over ear keeping me cocooned within the call.I’ve only needed to charge these once in the couple of weeks of use and have found them comfortable to wear and even though they are not noise-cancelling I have found that it excludes most external noise.I’m very impressed with the Bluetooth range of these units, as I can now walk around the house doing other work and still hear the music, answer calls and skip tracks. Much better than the old unit I had a few years ago where I could barely leave the room without signal issues.Aesthetically they are a nice simple pair of headphones, and the switches are easy to access and use. I like the ability to pause and skip etc from the buttons without having to unlock the phone for the music player.I also like the fact that the markings for left and right are inside the band and colour coded – with Right being red. I would recommend that the marking was a bit bigger and possibly have the letter R in a bright colour like white, so it stands out for any visually impaired owners.

Small headphones with a massive performance.

I was really impressed with the look and build of the WH-CH 520 Headphones. My first thought was compared to the headphones I was presently using, these appeared to be small. The instruction leaflet was difficult to read being in such small print. However when using my camera to get full details online, this provided excellent details to get me started on the setting up procedure.Surprisingly, for a very small charging up period the headphones provided ample time for my assessment to begin. Bluetooth connection was easy and I was immediately blown away by the quality sound produced, this was very much better than headphones I was used to. It was hard to believe that something so small could produce such quality.I later tried the headphones using my mobile iPhone ... MoreI was really impressed with the look and build of the WH-CH 520 Headphones. I must have spent an hour using the headphones and there was no unpleasant or any uncomfortable pressure on my ears. I acknowledge the lightweight headphones made the usage really comfortable.I confirm that I am an elderly female person and not too familiar with the ranges of headphones available. I can however confirm that the sound quality was exceptional. I own various Sony products and am very happy to add the headphones to my collection. I will be advising my friends to purchase these and I know they will be pleasantly surprised at the high quality sounds they produce.

The Sony WH-CH520 Over Ear Headphones. The CH520 looks like the run of the mill over ear headphone’s but boy they are definitely not! I’m used to the ordinary run of the mill over ear type bluetooth headphones for listening to my music when I relax at the end of a tiring day.I like bass, and a lot off it and believe you me the WH-CH520 really delivers it too.Bass delivering the effect of being there, making you think your body is thumping like it would be if you were at a concert.Mid range is where it should be, not too forward and not too far and not sounding like if it’s coming from a cardboard box or like you have your hands cupped over your ears, giving the sound presence like it’s alive. The highs are very good but not quite as crisp as good quality in ear ... MoreThe Sony WH-CH520 Over Ear Headphones. The CH520 looks like the run of the mill over ear headphone’s but boy they are definitely not! I did find that listening to drums they were perfectly adequate and didn’t spoil any of my listening pleasure. If you download the Sony headphones app for your smartphone or tablet, you can customise your sounds with a 5 channel equaliser etc.Hands free phone calls were a breeze and sound quality good, confirmed by my wife on the other end of the line. The only complaint I have the on/off volume buttons are completely black like the headset itself. In dim lighting, I had a real problem turning them on and off and having to use my phone torch to see what I was pressing out of the three buttons that are directly next to each other. If the recessed symbols where coloured in white it would be a lot easier to find and operate the right buttons in low light conditions.Charging was as simple as most other gadgets with a USB C cable. I used to get annoyed when I forgot to charge my regular headphones and had to wait an eternity to have enough charge to listen to them at length but not with the CH520. A three minute charge will give you a 1.5 hour use which was enough for my bed time listening, a full charge will give a you a massive 50 hour use time! All in all, for the price and if you are on a budget, I would go for these all day long.Price, sound quality, battery life all winners in my book!

Sony WH-CH520 excellent headphones great sound.

These Sony WH-CH520 headphones are super value for money. They are well made and comfortable to wear. The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) is a great plus too have. These headphones may not have all the features but it does have the most important ones. These Sony Bluetooth headphones are very affordable and with a battery life of around 50 hours on a full charge I was happy to listen all day too a variety of music and podcasts. At this price the audio these headphones deliver is remarkably good and is further enhanced by the use of the Sony Headphone App. to tweak the EQ. This can be downloaded from the App Store. The headphones despite the cushioning are lacking in noise-blocking and they do not have active noise cancellation so if you commute a lot bear that in mind. The shell of the headphones are textured plastic but feel really well made. You have buttons at the bottom of the right-hand shell for play/pause, volume control and track skipping and if you double-press the play button it triggers your phone’s voice assistant. The CH520 support Bluetooth multi point pairing, so you can rapidly switch between your phone, laptop for a video call etc. The connectivity is very reliable and I never experienced any problems. The battery life of 50 hours is excellent they charge via a USB-C cable. There’s no 3.5 mm jack option so bear that in mind if you want to use them on a flight. The Sony WH-CH520 has a microphone which is functional. Overall an excellent product that offers brilliant sound for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

WH-CH520 Wireless Headphones
27 March 2023

On acquiring my Sony WH-CH520 headphones, I was amazed as to how light they are. Having only previously owned a pair of on-ear wired headphones, the Sony bluetooth headphones allow me perfect freedom to move around the house freely, inside and out and they feel very comfortable even after long periods of wear. I have been using them in the house whilst on my desktop listening to music and watching videos. Also in the garden. I have used them on a couple of train and bus journeys and they have allowed me to enjoy music and almost cancel most of the ambient noise. The soft cushions on the pads together with the light weight make for a very comfortable listening experience. The DSEE download and activation helped with adjustments of bass and treble levels and various other modes. The multi-point pairing came in handy when I was listening to music on my desktop and it was easy to switch to answer a phone call. A bit fiddly at first but I soon got the hang of it. The play/pause and volume buttons took some getting used to but once mastered are very easy to use.I am very impressed with the battery capacity too. I have used them frequently and haven’t had to charge them for nearly ten days so far.The headphones are very easy to charge using the USB cable provided. The one and a half hour playback time for just a 3 minute charge time will one day prove to be very useful I am sure!I was also impressed with the no plastic packaging. In conclusion, I would recommend the headphones to others and indeed I have done so at the gym to a couple of friends.
