The Sony Xperia 1 VI 256GB Black 5G is a high-end smartphone you can take razor-sharp photos with. You do so with the standard, wide-angle, and telephoto lens on the back. With the telephoto lens, you can even zoom in 2 times without getting blurry photos. The Sony Xperia 1 VI is suitable for the most demanding tasks. You can play 3D games or edit photos and videos, for example. The Xperia 1 VI is a large 6.5-inch Full HD screen on which you can watch movies or series in high quality. The size does make it difficult to control the screen with 1 hand. Thanks to the large 5000mAh battery, the Xperia 1 VI lasts an entire day with average use. You charge the battery with a separately available 30W charger. You can store your photos, apps, and other files on the 256GB storage.

A bit hesitant to buy phone not from official store. IMEI not recognisable from local Sony website.Registered in the phone for Xperia Service but recognised mine as 256gb model instead of 512gb. Still questionable, but there's network with Giga, I don't have 5G plan to check yet but 4G does work. Singpass app works too. Camera is great. Battery last 48 hours without charge with usage of app updates, adjusting settings, and getting use to interface from a S10e user. I love this phone.Camera keep showing in 12MP even though the main camera should be 50MP. Any Xperia 1 V users if that's normal do let me know.

Probably one of the best phones on the market and closest to something I would call a perfect phone. So, I will not write here what are +s on this phone, but what should be improved/fixed/added:1. Always on display (it has the Ambient display and Lift to check device - but those are useful as the Always on display)2. The camera auto mode is simply not near to the level of the auto mode on phones like: Samsung's, iPhone, Xiaomi.... Most of the people does not have time to always adjust manually camera settings. We need proper "Point and shoot" capable phone3. The long press of the power button should be able to turn on the torch\lite, not just a digital assistant or power menu.4. Needs to have "Double tap to lock screen" gesture.5. Swipe down from the top ... MoreProbably one of the best phones on the market and closest to something I would call a perfect phone. In one photo you can not see the playstation and the area around the TV is also almost black.Face unlock is also missing. The rest is really good. The new camera UI is amazing, easy to use.Screen: Amazing, I love it. It is verry bright and visible in direct sunlight, amazing. The new screen aspect ratio 19.5:9 is also verry good, I love it.Flashlight: Finally amazing, very strong.Battery life: Amazing, almost two days. (You really need a USB-C PD charger, minimum 30W, and a USB-C to USB-C fast charging cable.)No overheating for me.Tele macro is awesome. The stereo front facing speakers are the best on a smartphone, excelent. The front facing camera is just ok, hope they will bring a better sensor next time.Overall, I am happy with the phone, but Sony really needs to step up their game. Great phone, but need a bit of love from Sony..

Pros:• Build quality.•Screen ratio, without Camera on screen, sofull screen to use.• Sound Quality, both weird and wirelessly are excellent.• Main camera is excellent (especially 48MP mode, but needs to be pics from "More Options", otherwise you stuck with 12MP, still good tho)• Excellent screen quality, with natural colors, not oversaturated like Samsung, but that's subjective preferences.• Speakers full of bass, and Dolby Sound really works perfectly. Not the loudest phone, but loud enough with great details.• Gaming Performance is excellent, no overheating, no battery drain as quick as other phones, so overall Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 shining here perfectly.• Battery lasting for day and half (for now), after few days of adaptation (first day barley a ... MorePros:• Build quality.•Screen ratio, without Camera on screen, sofull screen to use.• Sound Quality, both weird and wirelessly are excellent.• Main camera is excellent (especially 48MP mode, but needs to be pics from "More Options", otherwise you stuck with 12MP, still good tho)• Excellent screen quality, with natural colors, not oversaturated like Samsung, but that's subjective preferences.• Speakers full of bass, and Dolby Sound really works perfectly. Maybe it's just a software and will be fixed in the future.• No charger or cable for this price is not what I would expect, but that's how it is right now.• Unlike few other brands, Sony promising only 3 years of System Updates, when Pixel and Samsung up to 7 years (in my opinion, I wouldn't stay with Pixel 8 for 7 years, especially when there's much better phone in every 3 years)Cons:• Stuttering while scrolling, or texting, or in some random moments when walking around the system. (It's probably software, and there's some informations, that it will be fixed soon, or with Android 15, but for this price is shouldn't have a place here).• Bluetooth have some bugs from time to time, but turning off and on fixing it, but still not acceptable for this price. So there's overall more Positives that Cons, that's why 4 stars, but unfortunately a bit buggy systems makes whole experience incomplete. For this price, I would expect to be in better state, but as the phone was released some month or so ago, I can say to give him a time.If you like Sony, and you are lenient person, I can recommend this phone, especially that after lots of time, with phone with camera on screen, it's pleasant experience because it's full operating screen.I guess the phone will be on it's best, after few system updates, or patches. Because besides those few bugs (which not necessarily have to be as much disturbing for others as it is for me), the phone is overall truly premium in every aspect. So if Sony will fix buggs, fix telescopic camera then I will back here and give 5 stars easily, but for now 4 is max in my honest opinion.

Great phone. Excellent battery life.. Easy to use

I bought this phone about 3 weeks ago and it is fantastic. Great form factor, very premium and fast. 256gb is the standard all other companies should be starting with. It has a micro sd card slot which is awesome. What I like is that Sony mage a phone at all as it is rumoured they don't make much from their phone division.I have always wanted a Sony phone and I'm not disappointed. I've owned mainly Samsung phones.. The odd OnePlus. And an IPhone many moons ago. Top drawer phone that not many people know about. Obviously, it has that Sony high end camera too.. I have used it a few times and am happy with the results but judging from the reviews I have read you have to really learn the deeper settings inside the camera app to get the best out of it. The main wow factor thing about this phone is the battery. It will easily last two days even with heavy use. You don't really need to charge every night like I have done for so many phones I have owned in the past. I don't know how they have done it as it is a standard 5000 mhp battery but it holds power so well.. Leaving battery anxiety for anyone in the past.. Very impressive. Plus, it's a Sony product and they are one of the few companies that really don't put out rubbish products.. They are always going for the best they can do.. So.. There you are.. That's my opinion. The only real downside is the costs which in the UK is £1299 which as the guy told me at the O2 shop was the second most expensive e they sold.. The foldables being more of course. I am very happy with my Experia 1 Vi.. You will too..

It's not a perfect phone and it's not for everyone. It has its pretty surprising shortcomings. But I love it.I charge it every day, but I only use 20-75% of battery range. It stands out in its look and feel as xperia always did. It's huge, I can't safely hold it with my ring and little finger as I used to with iphone mini. It gets warm sometimes, but they definitely solved the overheating problem. Noises are here as always. Computational photo is not its strongest side. But the first two street photos are taken in the night on 85 lens. The moon is taken on 170 + max digital zoom to 510 mm equivalent. Tram is 48 mm and it's intentionally long exposed. The last macro is taken in the evening. All are handheld. First two street in auto mode. What I like the most is how it makes photo natural while somehow making it a bit more memorable. It doesn't oversharp, overcontrast, overcolor photos, but in the same time I can't get enough excited of a basic everyday things: a street, a lamp, a tree, a building. All the usual became beautiful. Now about camera features no one of so called "tech blogger" told.Tracking eye autofocus is a beast. It's fast and accurate. Object tracking sometimes even recaptures the object when I put down the phone, reposition myself, and then raise it back a few seconds later. It takes up to 30 full photos per second (up to 20 with hdr) while tracking the object and maintaining the focus, switching from eye to body autofocus and back while the model turns and walks. iPhone 15 pro, for comparison, takes 10 with a fixed focus and the first photo is delayed by 0.5-1 seconds. It has manual focus (iphone doesn't, what a "pro"), computational photo and hdr can be disabled, so it doesn't "fix" you photo of a foggy night into a clear day looking photo. Face/eye recognition can be disabled, so you can focus on something else while the face is in frame.White balance is usually good in auto mode, but it can be configured up to the things I haven't even heard of.And of course there is a full manual mode, where you control iso and shutter speed as you want. There are also exposure metering, focus area, and other settings.Camera – with its object detection, tracking, and stuff – is the most battery spending app, according to accubattery it spends 15-20% per hour. It's about a 5+ hours of camera usage in a row on a single charge. How is that? (I don't play games though)

My best phone ever
14 August 2024

So I have had 3 previous Xperia devices before this one - The XZ Premium, Xperia 1 and Xperia 1iii. So for me getting this new Xperia 1 VI was evolution. I am not disappointed at all. When I got my product I couldn't wait to transfer all, which was done via connecting USB C to C. Unusual but It did the job. Don't know if that means Sony's done away with file transfer as the goto option. I noticed the speed difference immediately between my new VI vs the III. The biggest win for me is the battery life. It does last 24 hours, at least! I've purposely left the phone to run all day and night, even played clash and COD as well as DB Legends and it still got me to over 24 hours. That's impressive! The camera is simple and easy to use and I found myself taking more snaps with this one than I did with the III. So to say It has moved on is an understatement. Yes there was this chat about the screen display no longer being 4k but honestly, unless you are a die hard nerd that loves detail to the pixel, you will not even notice a change. Watching things on the phone via youtube or video clips is easy and the 4k clips I have watched and stored are just as clear. I have my phone paired with my car and my WH-1000XM5 headphones and the music is perfect and clear. The tasks I need it to do, it does exceptionally well, as expected. My 1 III was an excellent servant but I was due an upgrade and glad it worked out that this device came out just as I was due. Android all the way and Sony has never disappointed me yet! I absolutely recommend this product to phone enthusiasts and camera boffs

That means I often need multiple tries, with slightly sweaty hands it often doesn't work at allThe storage seems to be fast, apps launch quickly. When using gesture navigation instead of buttons, there is about 1cm worth of empty space underneath the keyboard (Gboard, I haven't tried another one yet). There isn't a lot of bloatware, everything unnecessary can be uninstalled as well.In the settings I wasn't able to find a display setting for adaptive refresh rate, just 60 or 120Hz fixed. I have the latest firmware installed. Online I read there is supposed to be a setting, maybe that is specific to the Hongkong Version. Anyway, that doesn't help the battery life. The top and bottom bezels are big for today's standards which I don't mind. But the inclusion of a status led would have been great since I guess they use less power then the always on displays. There is no Sony app for the album and so on anymore, just the pre installed Google Photos app. For some people that might be a plus, for others a con.I bought this phone because my Xperia Z3 Compact was my favorite phone I've ever had and I wanted to know if Sony can still renew that brand loyalty. While the phone is overall alright, there are too many annoyances and I would not buy it again. If the phone cost 400€ the rating would be 4 stars, but at this price point there is too much wrong with it, the very nice other parts of the phone can't compensate for everything. I hope future software updates will solve some of the described issues.Sorry for the unstructured review...

Very ood phone, shocking accessories and packaging

The phone itself is Android so you know what you get. Functionally it doesn't really do anything the Samsung S20 Ultra didn't do. Ive had more freezes and restarts on this new phone which has raised my eyebrow a little but nothing major. The camera is much better though and nothing bad to say about that. The screen is great so don't let the resolution decide anytign for you and the in clusion of a headphone jack and memory card slot were 2 features that sold me on this phone, along with the last one. The best thing is the battery which is better than any phones Ive ever owned unless you go back to the old nokia days of 5 day battery life. I can get 2 days of casual use without charge and I really like that. The down side is that for a phone they're asking £1300 for ... MoreThe phone itself is Android so you know what you get. No accessories, no decent packaging, not even a charger. The phone doesn't even come with a screen protector and I was flabbergasted by this, it will honestly put me off another Sony in the future as the competition is so far ahead its not even funny.

Xperia 1 vi
18 July 2024

The Xperia 1vi feels really solid and the groves which run the length on each side of the phone and raised dimples on the back, makes it great to hold and helps to keep it secure in my hand so I don’t worry about it slipping from my grip like I did with previous models. I tend to use wireless headphones but it’s nice having the wired 3.5mm jack connection as a backup.I wasn’t too keen on the previous model camera button, but this one is so much better with the raised dimples seem to make it easier to use and the finger print sensor on the right side, is very responsive and hasn’t failed me yet. It took a bit of time getting used to the wider display but visually I do prefer it for viewing phots and playing videos. When taking photos, I find the menu much simpler ... MoreThe Xperia 1vi feels really solid and the groves which run the length on each side of the phone and raised dimples on the back, makes it great to hold and helps to keep it secure in my hand so I don’t worry about it slipping from my grip like I did with previous models. When taking photos, I find the menu much simpler and easier to change the settings and the adjustable face/face-eye AF works just as well as my APS-C camera. The macro facility is superb with the ability to adjust the focus to what you want using the focus slider is so straight forward and it helps to have a steady hand with taking the shot. The big bonus is the battery life, which lasts about three days so I don’t put it on charge every evening like my previous Xperia and I no longer need to carry a charger with me on the train.
