As the title says I have used these earbuds all day without fatigue. They have a simple design and simple controls on them. However, one downside is how sensitive the buttons are set by default. They are set to the softest setting from the beginning. When trying to adjust them for a better fit in my ears I found that the buttons that pause or skip whatever it is you are listening to get pressed very easily and you can either miss a part of a podcast that you have to go back to, or it will jump to the next episode in the series. Although this is a minor inconvenience the sensitivity can be adjusted via the app to have the buttons require a firmer press, I found it happening enough to worth mentioning. That aside these are by far the best fitting and most comfortable ... MoreAs the title says I have used these earbuds all day without fatigue. That aside these are by far the best fitting and most comfortable earbuds I own. There are several ear tips to allow the best fit to allow the ANC to work the best for most. Currently I have two different size ear fitment tips on them a smaller one for my right ear and the largest one for my left ear. In a part of the app that sets the ANC for optimal settings there is an ear canal test to test for proper fit and it instructs to either adjust the ear bud or choose a different ear tip for proper fit. ANC optimization is done automatically. All of this allows you to get the best sound out of your earbuds.Another settings allow for Spatial audio, which is odd and takes a bit to get used to. Spatial audio separates left and right channels and follows your head position. So, if you turn it on in one position and turn your head left most of the sound comes out of the left channel and vice versa for the right channel. This is a neat feature for live recorded music.Battery life is impressive as I have only charged the case once since they had arrived, and everything is still showing 100% in the app for battery level. There are other features that are included in the design. Heart rate monitor is one that stands out to me. It senses your heart rate in your ear. Although I have not used this enough to comment on the effectiveness of it or the soundcore Wellness section of the app, I thought I would mention it in this review if it were something that is of interest to you.The best thing to me by far that I noticed and like about these is that you can use either the right or left alone and still listen to music, podcasts or just use the phone. The only thing that I could see that may be a potential problem would be the case that stores and charges them when not in use. The design could be improved as it currently slides open, and the top seems a bit flimsy once fully open, and I would be afraid to snap it off. To me it ought to be hinged and a bit thicker.

The other issue is of course the earbuds falling off. The Apple wired earbuds were pretty much my favorite, only because I would use them in my helmet, as they're the only ones that would stay in. However, these premium wireless earbuds are great! The default ear tips worked best for me. The Small and Large would were not a good fit, but I’m glad they are included as obviously everyone has different sized ears.I started simply with just using the earbuds and connecting to my iPhone, you could tell that the noise cancellation was automatically on, but that's about it. After using it for a few days on calls and just listening to music, I decided I wanted to use the app and see what other features I'm missing out on.What features was I missing? the ability to use "transparency mode" - which allows you to eliminate noises but focus on voice, or a "fully transparent" mode which just brings in all outside noise - this would be useful for when walking on the street to be aware of your surroundings. The most important feature is "HearID ANC" which allows you to run an ear canal test customize the sound to your specific ear, this is highly recommended. The other reason I needed to app - after I had successfully connected the earbuds to 2 devices (Nintendo Switch & iPhone), I could no longer connect to new devices - which I wanted to connect to my AppleTV. In the settings within the app, there is a "Dual connections" area in which is where you can start connecting more than 2 devices. Once I went into there, I had the option to connect a new device. On the AppleTV, when watching anything I switch the spatial audio mode to Movie Mode, because it brings the vocals closer to you, whereas the "music mode" it sounds more like you're in a concert, which works better for music. Bonus: if you use head tracking, the audio will come out of the left/right earbud depending on where you are looking, which is fantastic. The only thing I don't like, which is across most headsets, is the echo/concert hall effect when you're on a call, because of the mic. I can hear myself breathing and it feels very uncomfortable, this usually happens when using a headset that has a boom mic close to my mouth. Again, this is normal, and other people are used to it, it is not normal for me but it's acceptable. There is also a wellness portion in the app as the earbuds can also measure your heart rate, and can connect to Apple Health, but I did not get into it and I'm not interested in it as I already have an Apple Watch that does the same.Pros:HearID ANC /Spatial audio Head trackingGood battery lifeCan be connected to 2 devices at the same timePower levels shown in the appFit Tests to properly relay sound to your specific earsCons:Pricey, but premium soundPinching controls for each earbud seems difficult (however, you can customize and change sensitivity of pinches, just not interested)Requires app/account if you've already connected 2 different devicesMost features require the app.

Single taps handle playback on both ears, double taps control track navigation (left for previous, right for next), triple taps do nothing by default, and long presses on either side switch between the ANC and Transparency modes. In the app, you can adjust the control layout, as well as add volume controls. They are water resistant so light rain or sweat should not cause problems, but don't submerge them. The charging case (which isn't protected against water at all) has a flip-top lid and a button on the front that opens it. The earphones dock flat into the charging cradle, which has a white LED light, there’s a USB-C port on the bottom for charging via the included USB-C-to-USB-A cable, but you can also just drop the case on a Qi wireless charging pad to refill its battery. The earphones can last roughly 10 hours per charge and the case holds an additional 40 hours of battery life (with ANC off). The Anker Soundcore app (available for Android and iOS) has a sleek design and features. It shows battery life readouts for each earpiece and the case at the top, below this, the Ambient Sound section lets you switch between Noise Cancellation, Transparency, and Normal modes.Overall, The Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC true wireless earphones deliver on multiple fronts, with a rich sound signature, impressive noise cancellation, and a standout companion app. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice set of earbuds at a reasonable price.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC, and I must say, these wireless earbuds have completely elevated my audio game. Whether I was grooving to bass-heavy tracks or immersing myself in acoustic melodies, these earbuds showcased a remarkable range of clarity and depth.Active Noise Cancellation (5/5): The active noise cancellation technology in the Liberty 4 NC is nothing short of impressive. It effortlessly blocked out the hum of airplane engines, the chatter in a bustling coffee shop, and even the distant sounds of traffic. The world around me faded into the background, allowing me to truly lose myself in my music or podcasts.Comfort and Fit (4.5/5): The earbuds come with a variety of ear tips, ensuring a snug fit for different ear sizes. I found them comfortable to wear for extended periods, thanks to their ergonomic design. However, during intense workouts, they could sometimes shift slightly, which was a minor concern.Battery Life (4.5/5): The Liberty 4 NC provided an impressive battery life of around 6 hours with active noise cancellation enabled, and the charging case extended that to a total of 22 hours. This was more than sufficient for my daily use, but a tad more juice would have been the cherry on top.Design and Build (5/5): The earbuds exude a sleek and modern design, and the charging case felt sturdy and compact. The touch controls were responsive and intuitive, allowing me to manage playback, calls, and even toggle the noise cancellation with ease.Connectivity (5/5): Pairing the Liberty 4 NC with my devices was a breeze. The Bluetooth connection remained stable, and I experienced minimal dropouts even in crowded areas. In summary, the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC truly impressed me with its exceptional sound quality, stellar noise cancellation, and user-friendly features. These earbuds are not just for audiophiles; they cater to anyone who appreciates high-quality audio in their daily life. Whether you're a frequent traveler, a podcast enthusiast, or someone who simply wants to enjoy music at its best, the Liberty 4 NC is a worthy investment that offers an unparalleled audio experience. These are truly a great value for the price.

Great sound when you get the fit right.
14 August 2023

I have a pretty extensive collection of ear buds that I've amassed over the years, I'm always interested in the sound quality and fit of the new ear buds on the market. Overall, I like the Liberty 4's. The sound is really good once you have the fit dialed in. The fit is what's going to make or break the sound quality in any pair of ear buds. The fit on these is better than most, but I still had to really play around with the positioning to hear the best sound. So, to start, I love the case. A horizontal case is always the best option. It's easy to open with a press of the button, and even with the lid open it still lays flat. So many buds just have clunky cases that either fall over when opened or have a rounded bottom that makes you hold the case while you trying ... MoreI have a pretty extensive collection of ear buds that I've amassed over the years, I'm always interested in the sound quality and fit of the new ear buds on the market. It's easy to open with a press of the button, and even with the lid open it still lays flat. So many buds just have clunky cases that either fall over when opened or have a rounded bottom that makes you hold the case while you trying to put in your buds. Crazy. The case also has a good strong magnet that makes it a breeze to get your buds back into the case in the proper position. No fuss, no guesswork. The charging port on the case is a USB-C connection (thankyou Anker!), don't know why everything hasn't gone that route but I still buy things that come with the micro USB connection. I've been listening to these guys for several days and have yet to actually plug the case in to charge it. The buds are always at 100% right out of the case and the case charge level is still around 90%. I wouldn't hesitate to take these guys on a short trip without a charger and cable.I like the way you don't need to fumble around with finding the on/off button. Just pull them out of the case and they power on and connect to your phone. I had absolutely no trouble pairing with my Samsung phone. I always like to try and pair a new set of buds without downloading an app first just to see how well they play with others, and these did just fine. Downloading the Soundcore app gives you a lot of features. Aside from the home screen basics of connection status and battery levels of both buds and the case, there are adjustments for the noise canceling, and sound quality. Opening up the settings gives you choices Auto Play/Pause, Gaming mode, Sound leak compensation, Prompt tone, Sound mode, dual connections, Find device, Fit test, Auto power off, and on and on. Wow! Unlike a lot of apps I've run into for other buds, everything I see on the Soundcore app is actually useful! The Fit Test is especially useful and fully active (not just instructions on how to wear the buds). It will actually let you know after the test if you're wearing them correctly. The sound mode the buds come up in the first time is “normal”, which presumably has no noise cancellation. I started in this mode, but soon realized that switching over to noise cancellation mode or transparency mode is where you want to be if you actually want to hear any bass response. The Normal mode sounds very thin and tinny. Once I switched to this mode, it was like hearing an all new set of buds. The low end was well defined and the overall sound improved immensely. On top of that, the custom EQ allows you to really tweak the frequencies you like to boost. So by the time I was done, I was really getting more and more impressed with the sound quality. I (very) briefly tried the 3D surround sound and wondered what the point was of it, because the tinniness came back. Maybe if I was watching a movie it would be better suited for that type of sound reproduction. At any rate, I'm really happy with the sound I'm getting out of these guys. The fit, as I've said before in this review and many others, is everything when it comes to ear buds. If they don't fit right or you just don't want to use the biggest rubber tips for your ears, your not going to get good bass response. I have a problem with the majority of the buds I try, and I think this just comes down to the shape of my ear canals. It's difficult for me to get good sound from a lot of different buds. These were no different, but after working with them and going through the Fit Test a bunch of times, I got them into a good position. Even with the largest tips, I still have to really push them in deep, which is sometimes uncomfortable, but since I don't have them in for hours on end, it's not a big problem. But I can honestly say that if you spend the time with the fit, they sound fantastic. These guys are taking over one of the top spots in my collection and that's saying a lot. I was really pleasantly surprised by the performance of these buds all the way around. From the sound quality to the effort they placed in the app, and even the way they understand the fit is everything when it comes to buds and they give you a way to actually test the fit and let you know how to wear them correctly. The really long battery life is also a great bonus.

Nice set of true wireless earbuds!
21 August 2023

Since my wife and I started going to the gym at the end of last year, my wife had been using an older set of wireless earbuds, which were fine for her, but not her favorites. So, now it was time to finally get her a better pair (ones that would stay in place better and also be better for finding songs for the class she teaches at her preschool), and we decided to give the new Anker soundcore Liberty 4 wireless earbuds a try.To try them out myself first, I opened the case which starts the pairing process. My phone did immediately prompt for me to download the soundcore app. After downloading, I ended up having problems with getting it to actually fully connect to my phone (and after a couple of weeks, it still won't), even though it is a newer phone on Android 13 ... MoreSince my wife and I started going to the gym at the end of last year, my wife had been using an older set of wireless earbuds, which were fine for her, but not her favorites. After downloading, I ended up having problems with getting it to actually fully connect to my phone (and after a couple of weeks, it still won't), even though it is a newer phone on Android 13 with all the latest updates. I tried unpairing and starting the process over, but still no success. In the soundcore app, it would list them to finish connection, but it would not connect to finish setting it up. So, I ended up connecting to my tablet (same brand, but a few years old and on Android 11) and it turned out to be a much quicker success. Eventually, there was a firmware update for the case and earbuds, which didn't take much time at all to complete. Finally, I tried connecting to my wife's phone (who will be the main user) and did the same thing as with my phone (hers phone is level below mine, but same model year). One thing I did try different was to go into the settings for the earbuds in Bluetooth setting, manually turn on Calls and Audio, and it did finally full connect. And then I was able to finish setting up in the soundcore app. Afterwards, I eventually found that on the Anker website, they added an FAQ for our phone series that mentions to do this, along with turning of LE Audio. It mentions it does have Multi-Point Connection for having two active device connections when they are in use, but I was having issues with testing that. It was showing the Bluetooth connection was active on both my tablet and wife's phone, but the soundcore app on her phone showed couldn't connect. But I hadn't turned off the LE Audio at that time, so it may have affected it.When trying them out using my normal set of "testing" songs (that have the full ranges I listen for when testing out earbuds and speakers), the default Sound Effect ("soundcore Signature") was actually very good (which may be due to the equalizer settings in the tablet's audio configuration), close to sounding like my normal customized equalizer settings. After some additional fine tuning, I was able to obtain the best sound. I felt that it does has very rich bass! The Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) does work well, but not quite as good as my set I use for my workouts. When wanting to turn ANC off (or turn on Transparency mode, which allows outside sounds through), it can be done in the soundcore app, or by one of the touch settings for the earbuds (I have the triple-tap set to "Ambient Sound" to cycle that on and off). These do not have physical buttons, but have control settings that are are done by tapping the outer part. There are four control action settings that can be set in the app (single, double, and triple tap along with tap and hold), and can be set differently for each ear (for a total of eight).Truth be told, she doesn't care quite as much about certain things with earbuds, such as sound quality (but doesn't want extremely bad sounding one), she does have a preference for comfort. While I haven't really cared for the ones that have parts that stick out/down from the ear, she kind of likes it as it makes it easier for her to place into and remove from her ears. Overall for me, they are fairly comfortable to wear (once getting in the right position), but not quite as comfortable to me as my other "in-ear-only" style earbuds, but she thinks they fit great. They do seem that they we will stay in place quite well while moving around. There are 4 sets of ear tips to try if necessary to get the best fit. One slight annoyance I have noticed is that the edge of the ear tips catches a bit when I am removing. It doesn't happen every time, but has happened more than a few times. The case has a nice, somewhat compact design (although not quite as small as one of my sets). It has amagnetic catch for the lid with a button used to disengage the magnet and let the lid pop open. The earbuds are also held in place with magnets (so won't worry about them accidentally falling out of the case). The only thing 'm not quite fond of is (which is not a huge deal) is that it isn't east to pull them both out at the same time like I and used to with my other earbuds, but those are a bit smaller/different design and fit in the cases differently. They are a little too close together in the case to grab at the same time. Still, not a deal-breaker. For charging the case, it has the now normal USB-C port (and comes with a short USB-A to USB-C cable), but they can also be placed on wireless charger. Speaking of charging, the available battery life for the earbuds is impressive, with up to 10 hours on a single charge (likely with ANC turned off), and up to 50 hours total with the case charging. It also has a fast earbud charging, with charging for 10 minutes getting it to 4 hours available. These are a decently designed set of true wireless earbuds with great sound and fit and a lot of features for a decent price. If this style is what you are looking for, definitely give them a try!

Rich Sound, Strong Bass
18 October 2022

I’d been enjoying my Soundcore Air 2 Pro earbuds for almost 2 years. But after a nice brisk walk along the seawall a few weeks ago, I leaned over to look down at a pelican & felt my left earbud begin to fall out. The App’s adjustable/customizable equalizer w/presets allows me to dial up the heavier bass (Bass Booster) that I want for some of my motivating music playlists. While these buds don’t produce the kind of staccato clarity & definition or punchy bass found in some well-known higher end buds, this iteration of Soundcore easily provides better, brighter, crisper highs & stronger bass than my old Air 2 Pros. I would even say that, to my surprise, in some aspects, these buds produce a sound quality that gives another more expensive competing brand of wireless buds I own a run for their money. The App includes an array of preset sound profiles, or you can create your own. I like the ability to quickly change modes. For example, after listening to something upbeat in “Rock” mode w/thumping base, I can make a fast switch to “Podcast” mode for a talk/lecture that gives me clear & detailed treble. The EQ presets make an appreciable difference in my overall listening experience & enjoyment. The noise cancelling is also adjustable. You can select from several pre-set options or use the HearID App feature which maps your personal hearing sensitivities across a spectrum of frequencies during a short hearing test to produce your unique hearing profile. While it’s obviously not as accurate & detailed as an audiologist’s audiogram in a soundproof booth, you can certainly utilize it to help broadly compensate for hearing losses & improve your overall listening experience for music & podcasts.Another plus: so far, the battery life has been good. I’m getting more than 8 hours of play in normal mode. There are really no negatives to speak of with these buds. The ergonomic shape of the buds & the super-soft silicone ear tips are comfy enough. While I like that the stem (or stick) design makes it easy to adjust the controls, they don’t feel quite as secure as my other pair of fully in-ear “stemless” buds. So, I don’t think I’ll be using these for sports or workouts … or walks along the seawall.

Stellar NC Earbuds

THIS… Is the Soundcore Liberty 4 Noise Canceling (NC) by Anker, and to be quick to the point… they are truly amazing and really punch up for their price category. These Liberty 4 NC are similar to the Soundcore Liberty 4’s, however, these are somewhat of a half step up having Noise Canceling (and good quality NC!) amongst a few different features that sets them apart from their counterpart. These headphones MSRP slotting in at the highly competitive $100 mark amongst AirPods, Beats and many other quality earbuds… but they are from Anker?! Lets take a look to see if these are the new king of the hill, or just another pair of earbuds.Sound==============The sound was actually something that really caught me off guard, if I were blindfolded and had an airpod pro or ... MoreTHIS… Is the Soundcore Liberty 4 Noise Canceling (NC) by Anker, and to be quick to the point… they are truly amazing and really punch up for their price category. Lets take a look to see if these are the new king of the hill, or just another pair of earbuds.Sound==============The sound was actually something that really caught me off guard, if I were blindfolded and had an airpod pro or a Liberty 4 NC… I am not sure that I would be able to spot the difference. While not having the encapsulating fidelity of headphones, The Liberty 4 still delivers sound in a way that I feel like I am not missing out on any of the sound ranges, and really doesn’t go over the top on the lows, mids or highs. I found that regardless if I was listing to EDM, Metal, Rock or even a podcast, the sound was replicated equally and evenly. The BEST part… It has a built-in EQ. The noise canceling isn’t headphones level but combined with the built in form fitting tips it does end up being quite good, only letting in your higher frequency and very loud noises slip through.Comfort==============I found these headphones to be quite comfortable to wear for hours on end due to the rubber tips on the end of the earbuds. The Liberty 4 NC includes several sized rubber tips to fit almost any size ear which is always a nice plus if you are a person that enjoys them. I didn’t find the headphones, case or the earbuds to be prone to slipping out of my pocket or ear and really enjoyed how compact it all was as well.Case==============The Liberty 4 NC’s case design is something I have yet to see before, it has LED lighting integrated into the case so you can more easily see where you are putting your earbuds in the dark, even having led lighting in each earbud slot. It uses a magnetic system to lock the earbuds in place, which was actually quite strong. There was a slight learning curve putting the earbuds back in the right place as you have to set the earbuds into the case to their respective side whereas airpods are just dropped in.Complaints==============I did originally have some issues with the earbuds staying connected and sounding spotty/staticy, however, upon connecting them to the app and updating the software it completely solved the issue I was having and I haven’t had an issue since.Overall==============In review of the Liberty 4 NC’s, I have really fallen in love with them to the point that I think that these are by far some of the best earbuds I have ever worn. I think at the $100 price point these are the easy go-to’s and really make the airpods look cheap in comparison. The only reason I would think someone wouldn’t buy these would be due to the rubber ear tips, however, I am personally a fan of them and prefer them to the hard plastic style esque to the airpods. I think anker blew these out of the park and could have easily charged as much as the original Liberty 4’s and nobody would have batted an eye, but they chose to lower the price and improve the features and for that I cannot recommend these earbuds enough and I am now a Soundcare Liberty 4 NC by Anker fan (yes that is a long name haha)! As always, Bestbuy has an excellent return policy and even better customer service, so you never have to worry about buying a product that you don’t like… so why not test it out?!

Surprisingly great

Wireless earbuds are like a white whale if you live outside of the Apple ecosystem. To find a set that sounds good, has great battery life, stays connected, and is affordable is sometimes a struggle. This set accomplishes all that and then some. The thing that has surprised me the most about these earbuds is the battery life. Between the charge on the earbuds themselves and the case, I've been able to get almost 2 weeks of usage out of them before needing to recharge. Granted, I only use them when I'm walking around the neighborhood or hiking (so no more than 1.5 hours at a time), but it's been great to not even have to think about the battery most of the time. It could not have been simpler to pair them with both my phone and my laptop, and it automatically detects both so I don't have to fuss with the Bluetooth settings on either device. Then there's the sound - it's surprisingly impressive for the price. There's not much bass to speak of, but that's par for the course with most wireless buds. Music sounds full enough, but where these really shine is spoken word. I mostly use them to listen to podcasts or audio books, and I have no complaints. I'm also quite happy with the active noise cancellation. I tend to get headaches when using ANC for prolonged periods, but for some reason that doesn't seem to happen with these earbuds. All in all, I'm quite pleased.
