Special Hobby SH32054 1/32 Hawker Tempest MK II Hi-Tech*
During World War Two, the opposing sides were constantly competing against each other to keep abreast of the latest technological developments and, as a result, it led to ever more powerful and effective warplanes. In 1941, the new German Fw 190 fighter began to enter service and in response the British hastily developed the new Spitfire versions along with introduction into service of a new type called the Hawker Typhoon Mk.I. The introduction of the Typhoon and its powerplant into service was not without troubles and as restrictions of the Typhoon design soon emerged, Sydney Camm, Hawker ́s chief designer, began to design a new fighter aircraft, partially based on the Typhoon. As the number of alterations to the original design was quite substantial, the new plane was to carry a new name, the Hawker Tempest and soon proved to be one of the best WW2 fighter planes.

I ordered this kit as a tribute build for my Father-in Law who passed away recently, and who worked on Tempest Mk.IIs while in the RAF in India and then Pakistan during partition. The kit looks excellent; the styrene parts are all well moulded, with plenty of detail and very little in the way of flash. The added resin and PE parts are likewise excellent and will add another level of detail that will complement the base kit superbly. Plenty of decals are provided (4 sheets!) to give 5 different scheme options. I would add a note of caution however; this kit is not for beginners or the faint-hearted due to the detail included and the different media that the parts are supplied in. As ever, paint and glue are NOT included so don't forget you'll need to source them ... Ive always been surprised why no one has brought this out in 1/32 scale before now. Good kit but if you take your time you should not have any problems.
