Specialized 2022 Crux Comp - Gloss Artic Blue/size - 61
Specialized Crux Comp Disc Gravel Bike 2022 The Specialized Crux Comp Disc Gravel Bike is the ideal choice for riders who like to tackle mixed-terrain routes with as much speed as possible. The frame and fork utilise a sophisticated carbon layup pattern and refined tube shapes borrowed from the groundbreaking Aethos road bike to grant low weight, maximum pedalling efficiency and exceptional rough surface compliance. The frame weighs just 825 grams (size 56), and the fork comes in at 400 grams, but despite these impressive numbers, resilience and durability aren’t sacrificed, enabling the rider to thunder across the biggest hits with utmost confidence. The frameset offers tremendous tyre clearance, with up to 700c x 47mm or 650b x 2.1” rubber being catered for. Accommodating such tyres enables the Crux to confront the most demanding rock and root-strewn rides with heightened traction, control and comfort. However, despite this tyre clearance, clever design and innovative carbon orientation mean that a hollow, straight, and aesthetically pleasing drive-side chainstay can be used, rather than an ugly, kinked format. A performance gravel geometry with a longer reach, 72mm bottom bracket drop and lower stack delivers nimble handling and balance, while extra robustness is provided by the super-strong gravel-specific DT Swiss G540 wheelset. This wheelset is driven by a slick-shifting, wide-ranging SRAM Rival 1 11-speed gear setup and is stopped with aplomb in all weather conditions by hydraulic disc brakes. Highlights A light, nimble gravel bike that delivers a speedy, uncomplicated ride across trails, tracks and bumpy back roads The 10r carbon frame weighs just 825g (size 56) The frame’s sophisticated carbon layup and refined tube shaping borrowed from the Aethos road bike ensures sublime reactivity and tremendous rough surface compliance Thanks to the advanced design and carbon layup, a straight, hollow drive-side chainstay can be used, promoting a super-clean aesthetic The fork weighs 400g (uncut) is laterally stiff but damps vibrations from rough terrain Tremendous tyre clearance for 700 x 47mm or 650b x 2.1” tyres grants more capability across the harshest riding surfaces Performance gravel geometry with a 10mm longer reach, 72mm drop and low stack delivers balance, agile handling and composure A threaded bottom bracket, 27.2mm seatpost size, simple seatpost clamp and no-fuss rear derailleur hanger ease maintenance and usability The DT Swiss G540 wheels are robust and low maintenance A SRAM Rival 1 11-speed gear configuration shifts flawlessly amongst a vast range of ratios Hydraulic disc brakes exhibit stopping power and control in all conditions Frameset rider weight limit: 125kg Complete bike rider weight limit: 109kg (this is lower than the frame because the components have lower rider weight limits)

The Frame is absorbing the vibrations very nicely and even with 3-4 bar tire pressure it is possible to ride over quite rough Gravel with "Full Speed".The seat post is very comfortable, so the bar tape and the saddle. The 11- 42 Cassette is a joke, 10 - 42 or 10- 44 and an other shifting system would be a huge upgrade. But off course Specialized would like to sell the next bike for 6300€.The Pathfinder tires are very fast for a gravel tire and ok in terms of weight. The DT Swiss Alu Wheels are ok for this price segment but relatively heavy. But as I said the frame is compensating all the other weaknesses from the components.Would I buy this bike again:Yes because it is amazing fun to ride, accept when I have to shift gears.

Fantastic bike! Light, shifts great, nimble, and fast. I love the carbon seatpost and geometry of this bike. Internal cable routing makes this bike look very sleek and the blue color is even better in person. On mixed surface rides I’m routinely passing mountain bikers on the trail and catching roadies on the streets. It’s pretty amazing. Can’t wait for CX season. At this price point, it would be nice to see a lighter wheel set. Gearing on the comp model is slightly limited compared to higher end models.

I have owned a lot of bikes—some were duds, but I have loved most of them. I’ve been riding the Crux Comp for about four months now and I think this may end up being the bike I love best of all. Versatile and lively, it is only a little bit slower than my road bike, though the ride feels just as fast. But the reason I love it so much is that I find myself taking off-road detours on a whim—down alleys, across grassy fields, following dirt roads, whenever I feel like it. This is how I used to ride a bike when I was a kid. I had forgotten how much fun that can be.

I bought this bike for the frameset as Specialized do not supply the 10r (non S works) version as frame only in the UK. I stripped the frameset and rebuilt the bike with parts I had from a previous build, so I can't honestly comment on how the Crux in Comp spec rides. However, after a few riders both mixing up on and off road with my Crux I can reasonably speculate that whatever model Crux you have, or whatever you build it up with (to a point of course), this is one very fun and capable bike. The frameset itself is decently light for what is marketed as a gravel bike, even in this 'lower' 10r spec (the carbon lay up is such that it isn't as light as the S-works 12r model), which certainly helps with any upward trajectory or sprint off the mark, but that's not the ... MoreI bought this bike for the frameset as Specialized do not supply the 10r (non S works) version as frame only in the UK. It's fun in a way that race bikes can't be - especially when the roads are in poor condition or you dart off down a gravelly byway for the hell of it. If you are bored of the same old road rides or being pummelled by your road bike on narrow tyres, this is a bike that could re-invigorate cycling for youI would never call a bike an N+1 killer - if you love bikes, you'll always find a reason to buy another - but I do think my Giant TCR is going to be left hanging unless I really feel the need to go for an hours blitz on the most decent roads. The rest of the time I'll be having too much fun ragging about the lanes, byways and bridleways on fat slicks with the Crux.Lastly... a shout out to Sigma for fine customer service when they quickly sourced some small parts I needed to finish my build (and which would never have been included with the Comp model). A fine example of a large retailer applying a personal touch when you would not reasonably expect it.
I angonised for months looking for a new bike I know I wanted something simple without proprietary parts, a threaded BB.I looked as several other brands but the frame design and shape just kept bringing me back. I purchased this and brought Terra C wheelset at the same time, wanted a expert but were not in stock so upgraded to Rival axs etap. I am excited to ride the bike when ever I can its so playful it climbs fast and holds speed so we'll also so very quiet. I read a review here where he said "life is too short to ride anything else" and he was right.
My first crux cracked at the head tube - design fail I am told - 2nd Crux (& first) plagued with creaking BB - every 200 miles it had to get cleaned put back in - my LBS and myself have contacted Specialized over and over with no resolution offered. Now I see the BB is a threaded style again - I guess the press fit experiment did not work and I am left with a poorly designed bike that creaks like crazy. I have bought 6 bikes in my life from Specialized - I will not buy another one - very disappointing they don't stand behind there designs. (FYI - they did replace my frame after the first one cracked - disc frame for a caliper frame so that was more money thrown at it.) Bummer - you learn.
Quite simply, the new S-works Crux is unbeatable. Throw on some slicks and you have a competitive road bike. Gravel roads are eaten up by this rig. It’s a one bike quiver. Only problem is the supply issue and the need to build more. I had to custom build mine from frame up. We ordered one for my wife several months ago and hope to get it by this summer. The bike is fast and absolute quality. Well done, Specialized. Another reason why my entire family only rides your brand.
The ultimate “Dual Sport” bicycle, with two different wheelsets, the Crux serves as a road and gravel bike for me. Crux Framesets weren’t in stock so I bought the Comp level build and swapped components over to SRAM RED AXS. The full build in “gravel mode” with Roval Terra CL’s and Continental Terra Speed 40’s is at 16.9 lbs and under 16.0lbs when in “road mode”. The Crux checks all the right boxes for me.
I bought a Crux Comp and stripped it down. (selling the unwanted components for a good price)Upgraded the following:- Bars: (Roval Terra carbon)- Stem: (S-Works SL alloy)- Drivetrain: (Force 11 cranks (40t), DUB BSA 68 bb, and Force mechanical rear derailleur)- Wheels: (Roval Terra CLs).This thing is sweet; rides like Spez Pro Crux (w/o a battery) while costing substantially less.I set up the bike with DMR magnesium flat pedals (commuting) but have a set of CB eggbeater 11's for gravel. One major problem:I also own an Aethos S-Works (Red AXS); choosing which one I want to ride is the hardest part of my day! :)
When you purchase a bike online, ship it to your LBS rather than your home. Mine came with hydraulic brake lines connected at extreme angles to the calipers, the rear wheel not dished properly, and other odd issues with the original build. Of course, you'll likely drop the handle bars a little or a lot lower on the steerer, too, and the housing will need to be trimmed accordingly. Specialized will compensate the shop to resolve these issues. I like the bike.
