My dad got me this bike, and as soon as I saw it, I knew that this was perfect! This bike has perfect geometry for every kind of trail riding! I have beat this bike to the ground with jumps and some of the biggest drops, and this bike has had no problems. I just finished a race with it and it performed perfectly! The derliar is perfect shifting and the brakes really are powerful. The fork is perfect, and this frame really feels like it is carbon fiber! Overall, amazing bike, wound reccomend for experts for beginners!

My Fuse Comp 29 (purchased Oct 2021) came with Shimano Deore hardware & the tires are Butcher front/Purgatory rear--I'm perfectly fine with all of these changes! The ride inspires confidence with such wide tires. The massive frame welds (particularly on my large frame's seat tube-top tube reinforcement) were off-putting at first, but the satin smoke finish make them less obvious from a distance. Having a dropper post and an easy reach down to the front fork to adjust travel when necessary have both been far more useful than anticipated. The fork tube is cut short though, preventing spacers to raise the handlebars so it leaves me in a slightly forward leaning position & contemplating cushier grips after a long ride. I made an excellent decision to go with Fuse Comp 29. There wasn't anything that left me feeling like I was missing out on.

Looking to replace my wife's 2006 Stumpjumper, I bought a Comp Fuse last year from Erick's Bike Shop in a size small for $2299. The specs still look the same as this year, but the price is $3k.Pro's:- Decent frame, seem's relatively light and has some compliance - sticker says made in Taiwan.- The dropper functions like a dropper.- The Recon functions like a bottom shelf fork without being terrible.- Stock wheels seem ok.Con's:- The Recon is heavy - it weighs more than a Fox 36. I recently replaced with a Fox 34 and it was a significant upgrade and savings in weight. And the Recon steerer tube is cut too short by 3/4 to 1 inch.- The dropper is way short at 100mm.- NX instead of GX Cassette - easy way to save weight.- It would've been great to have brake ... MoreLooking to replace my wife's 2006 Stumpjumper, I bought a Comp Fuse last year from Erick's Bike Shop in a size small for $2299. Should've probably looked elsewhere, but my wife really like the olive green...

Giddy Up!
22 July 2021

Purchased this bike on 4/7/21 and over the past three months I have ridden 9 days at Highland Mountain Bike Park in NH, 2 days at Thunder Mountain Bike Park in MA, multiple days at a pump track, ridden 20-30 mile rail trails, multiple days at the Middlesex Fells Nature Reservation in MA. I grew up on a BMX bike hitting dirt jumps, COVID inspired me to get back into biking at age 33, I love this bike but I want more, I have dropped in from height and hit large jumps on this bike. Upon landing I have left all reflectors on the trail, charged some chunk although as common sense would say, that is not the best experience on this bike. Another rider at a Mountain Bike Park looked at me and said ""A Hardtail! Good Luck with that!"" I laughed back and said there is no luck ... MorePurchased this bike on 4/7/21 and over the past three months I have ridden 9 days at Highland Mountain Bike Park in NH, 2 days at Thunder Mountain Bike Park in MA, multiple days at a pump track, ridden 20-30 mile rail trails, multiple days at the Middlesex Fells Nature Reservation in MA. Another rider at a Mountain Bike Park looked at me and said ""A Hardtail! Good Luck with that!"" I laughed back and said there is no luck involved with a hard tail, it's a skilled man's sport. That being said this bike has made me a better rider and I love this bike for that, the fuse comp has really allowed me to focus on lines and where my wheels are on the trail or even more important when in the air, I love this bike, it has proved durable, and feels very fast when descending on flow trails. If you are into downhill mountain bike parks and leaving the ground which this bike led me to find out, I am into that, you will want more. If you are into chunk and tech trails this is not the bike for you. It will be nice to have this hard tail for local trail riding and a Enduro bike for the down hill mountain bike parks. If you are new to riding this bike is also for you.

I bought it online from
19 April 2022

I bought it online from Specialized website and It was sent to my selected shop. After I emailed Specialized to ask where the bike was, I got no answer. I called the shop to confirm the delivery, I got no answer there either and waited 10 days for the "its ready notice". On the 10th day I went to the shop, the bike was still in the box. I helped the manager carry the bike to the builders upstairs. The shop is a tier 2 specialized affiliate and apparently not motivated to do the build when bought online. There was no offer to size the bike or setup the sag on the fork. There was no paper work or box goodies turned over. IMHO the bike is a little on the heavy side. I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam, I bought the XS so I could have 3 mm of stand over room, lol. So I'm a ... MoreI bought it online from Specialized website and It was sent to my selected shop. There was no paper work or box goodies turned over. IMHO the bike is a little on the heavy side. I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam, I bought the XS so I could have 3 mm of stand over room, lol. So I'm a little tall for the TranzX seat post supplied on the XS and SM, Specialized's chart says I should get the medium bike which is 2cm too tall for my inseam, and only 4cm longer which isn't long enough, still, but you do get the longer seat post. As the old saying goes, you can make a small bike bigger, but you can't make a big bike smaller. My size makes the dropper too short by a whopping 30cm. So an extra expense for a new dropper. The tranzx dropper lever is literally a pointed dagger right at the thumb, much irritation on the first trail ride. The blades (levers) on the SRAM "trigger" not trigger, shifter are also sharp on the thumb. Someone important should tell SRAM, that's not a trigger shifter, it's false advertising, they don't listen to me. Will be swapping that out soon for the shimano xtr lever. Still looking for 2.6cm tubes for the monster tires. The bike rolls well, the 29ers make flats fast and obstacles easy to navigate over. The shock when setup properly is plush, the tires work well in loose dirt. The bottom line question is too black and white to answer. If you can fit into Specialized's size physiology algorithm buy one. The lack of shop inventory for test rides makes buying online a huge guess. That sucks. Good luck!

Not a Happy Camper
26 September 2022

Was deciding between the Trek Roscoe and Specialized Fuse Comp. The Fuse Comp was 2,300 couple days later went to go buy the Fuse, come to find out the Fuse had a 700.00 increase. So went from 2,550 otd to 3,300 otd so after the shock wore off, I bought the Fuse. So a couple days later I wanted to adjust the handlebar and I noticed a dent in the head tube right at the top where upper bearing sits. Went back to bike shop to show them the damage, bike tech took pictures of damage. Well he sent pictures to Specialized. They responded back with, will not effect the performance of bike, and they offered me a 40.00 helmet for my trouble. So Specialized helped me switch to Trek. Always read how cutthroat Specialized is. No will not recommend.

One serious hardtail!!!
31 December 2021

My riding buddy was nice enough to let me borrow his hardtail while my Santa Cruz Hightower LTC was in the shop getting a transmission overhaul. Due to Covid the shop was backed up in service for about a month and I got a lot of riding in on the fuse at that time. This thing should be called the goat. With 130MM Travel in the front fork and easy shifting of the gears I realized this bike was a blast to ride. A very fast/capable mountain bike. Well I got lucky and my wife surprised me for Christmas with you guessed it.. a Specialized Fuse Comp in Smoke gray and black set up. Will have to make a stem adjustment and handlebar with rise upgrade to make the front end a little more comfortable for my geometry and I will be good to go. I highly recommend to any riders out there.. rent this bike and give it a go...Absolutely fantastic bike.

So fast, so fun
29 June 2021

I've had my Fuse for about 2 months now, and I am very happy with it. Descending, this bike is confidence inspiring and FAST. Climbing I don't feel like I'm moving as quickly as on my older XC focused bike, but strava says otherwise. That's not to say the bike doesn't climb well - it just isn't lighting as much of a fire. The 2.6 tires feel like a different world, and I'm really enjoying the extra compliance. I did buy the PNW Range bar and stem. The stock setup had me feeling like I was hunched too far over the front end. The 30mm rise on the PNW bars helped a lot, and the new stem made the reach just a bit longer. For me, these ergonomic changes made the bike feel even more dialed. I am 5'11 and 175 lbs and I purchased a large. Solid bike - QC could be better
12 April 2022

Over all I'm happy with the bike, my critiques come down to some basic quality control that I think could be better. The frame after 1 month of regular riding has a number of paint chips from pebbles getting flicked up, it seems pretty silly that for a 3k bike the paint wouldn't hold up better (especially considering it's made for trails). Another issue I had was the wheels are 'tubeless ready' - however one of the rims had issues with the tape around the valve hole which resulted in leaking air (was fixed by adding some extra rim tape and creating a new valve hole). Add onto this the fact that this years model has SRAM running gear (downgrade from the previous years Shimano), falsely claims that it has "SRAM TRL 4 piston brakes" (actually has TL 2 piston brakes ... MoreOver all I'm happy with the bike, my critiques come down to some basic quality control that I think could be better. I wouldn't not recommend this bike - but I am curious what the alternatives would be like (Marin, Norco, etc).

oh boy!
9 November 2022

let's try this. Specialized deleted my true review of my fuse comp, maybe because of my one star review. So I'll give it a 5 star of hopes that they keep it up. In the 30 plus years of mountain biking, I can say with out a doubt this is the worst bike I have ever ridden. It's slow, doesn't climb well, unstable downhill. Customer support is nonexistent. It might be good as a beginner bike with a rider with little trail riding experience. PLEASE pass on specialized, they have gone 100% commercial. They seem to be selling a product only for money, like businesses do, but they have lost all the soul of specialized of past. Defiantly not worried about quality or the spirit of mounting biking.
