Springbank Distillery is the oldest independent, family-owned Scottish distillery. Founded in 1828 by Archibald Mitchell, it is now owned by Hedley G. Wright. Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland where the entire production process, from malting the barley to distilling and bottling, takes place in-house. The products are therefore subjected to constant, expert control during the individual production steps and thus meet the highest quality requirements. Furthermore, Springbank is the only distillery that has not subjected their whiskies to chill filtration since its inception and does not use artificial means for coloring. Another distinctive feature of Springbank is that three different single malts are produced here - Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn, each with a different production method. The Springbank 18 Years Old is a single malt, which is aged 80% in old sherry casks and 20% in old bourbon casks.
