Sram Red eTap AXS is much more than a simple evolution of its predecessor, it is a revolution, a fully integrated approach to design a groupset that empowers ever more capable riders and the diverse range of bikes that they choose to ride. The carbon tuned Sram Red cranks utilize proprietary Sram carbon lay-up design to increase thickness and stiffness at critical stress areas. Advanced carbon architecture techniques such as tapering, and terracing provide significant weight savings without compromising on strength. The cranks smoothly integrate with a one-piece aluminum chainring design that also ensures the perfect balance of weight & stiffness. The recent development of the 10 tooth smallest cassette sprocket alongside 12-speed cassettes has allowed Sram to re-think gear ratios to offer more range and a smoother gear progression. This new high gear cassette sprocket with a smaller tooth count allowed Sram to pioneer correspondingly smaller chainring sizes with lower gearing whilst still exceeding the gearing range of a traditional double chainring 11-speed drivetrain. As the chainrings are smaller in size they are consequently lighter and more aerodynamic; the chainrings also feature exactly the same 13-tooth difference across all tooth configurations for smoother, faster front shifts. The Quark power meter is fully integrated into the chainring for a seamless aesthetic and a lighter weight compared to other aftermarket solutions. The DZero power meter platform offers a +/- 1.5% accuracy rate with a new measurement circuit and revised strain gauge design for improved precision throughout the pedal stroke. The Sram Red AXS power meter design is as useful for aiding training as it is for racing due to the fact that it records data from the left and right legs separately for insightful physiological feedback, it is also unaffected by climate conditions during a ride for stress free statistics out of season.
