Overall, I really like the product, but it has one drawback: The clear top. Although it’s nice for seeing what’s inside, the clear top allows radiant heat from the sun to rapidly
warm a cold drink. To test how well it keeps cold drinks cold, I did an experiment. I filled it full of crushed ice and water and put it in direct sunlight on a 100 degree day. I

Yes, the handle on it makes it easier, and yes, it can fit in my cup holder, BUT it’s bulky in my opinion. I underestimated the size, honestly. Good tumbler - with some issues
29 September 2022
This tumbler has some strong points - it is a good size that holds a lot, it comes with a straw that I like for drinking cold beverages, and its tapered base allows it to easily fit in car cup holders, and the price is reasonable compared to some competitors. The negatives? For cold drinks the opening for the straw means you are of course not getting a full seal, so it will not keep cold drinks cold as long as tumblers that fully seal. And it does not work so well for hot drinks. It does have a swiveling piece on the top that allows you to "seal" the opening for drinking when you are not using the straw, but it really does not tightly seal - tip the tumbler over and the liquid pretty much pours out. And I found that the high rim on the lid makes drinking hot liquid ... MoreThis tumbler has some strong points - it is a good size that holds a lot, it comes with a straw that I like for drinking cold beverages, and its tapered base allows it to easily fit in car cup holders, and the price is reasonable compared to some competitors. Great at keeping cold but easy to spill
17 September 2022
First the positives, of which there are many! Keeps things cold for a very long time!! Put water and ice in at about 6 pm and next morning water was still cold. Love that it can fit into the cup holder of a car, which none of our other large bottles can do. Enjoy that the top has multiple options and the included straw is great.Negatives - while adventure is in the name, it’s not spill proof at all. A simple tilt, even when “closed” has liquid coming out. I also have small hands and it’s quite heavy when full and a bit awkward to carry without a handle. But even with that we still love it. It’s perfect for around the house, road trips, and more stationary adventures such as hanging at the beach or campsite.... Show more

Great cup!
5 January 2023
TL;DR I prefer the original to the 2.0 Flowstate whatever with the new lid. That one is heavier in the 30oz than this one in the 40oz, or maybe it distributes weight differently, IDK. Also, the 2.0 that I’ve seen have that powder coating. When my Rose Quartz was delivered, it already had chips in it! Hard pass. Anyway, I was not aware of they hype when my friend suggested I get one of these cups. I watched some review videos of cup comparisons, and it seemed like a good choice. Of course the colors I liked were sold out here & at the retailer who has the 2.0, but I got lucky at my local Target with a drive up order, and yeah, I love this thing. I thought it would be unwieldy, but it’s not! If you don’t usually drink enough water, don’t be goofy like me and get all ... MoreTL;DR I prefer the original to the 2.0 Flowstate whatever with the new lid. It is a fine tumbler, but not great
21 September 2022
This tumbler is fine, but not great. It keeps things cold long enough- I use it at my desk while working and it stays cold for most of the day. It fits in the cup holder in my car as well which is nice. The main issue I have is with the top- it is plastic and the it usually takes a couple of tries to thread it properly, which is annoying. The straw is also white plastic and my iced tea started to stain it. If REI hadn't sent me the tumbler for an honest review, I probably wouldn't have chosen to buy this because there are better versions out there. I have medium-sized hands for a woman and I don't have a very secure grip when I hold it around the top third of the tumbler, which isn't ideal. Overall it will get the job done, but I had higher expectations.... Show more

OK, but over-hyped
26 September 2022
I like the cup well enough. It holds water, fits in a cupholder, and I can drink through a straw so I'm not accidentally sharing water with my cat. Thing is, it's huge. As in, super tall and probably very easy to knock over. But maybe that isn't a fair assumption since I've only had it a couple of days and haven't given it a proper chance at being tipped. Yet.I have respectably large-ish hands for a woman my size, and it's still too heavy when full to comfortably use single-handed so I end up two-handing it like a toddler with a giant sippy-cup. Not a big deal, just unusual for a water bottle (and for a 31 year old lady). Also not thrilled with the plastic straw, but hopefully a super long metal straw isn't difficult to find as a replacement. This ridiculous cup has been hyped up on the internet and social media-- and I should have known better, but I'm only so strong against a sold-out everywhere item that comes back in stock. Anyway. It's a cup, though I'll admit the dishwasher-safe feature has one over on all of my Hydroflasks and S'wells, and some of my Klean Kanteens. It also arrived dented on the bottom, which is surprising given that they claim it can survivie a 4000 ft drop (although what exactly does 'survive' mean?). So if your water receptacle shelf is looking a little sparse and like it could use a giant dishwasher-safe cup in a pretty color that's all-around average, I would say go for it. I do however wish there was an "eh" option for whether or not I would recommend this product to a friend.... Show more

Shocked I found it.
1 April 2022
I’m shocked that I found this item. For all those who are looking for this item, just keep looking but don’t go too crazy looking, otherwise that’s just setting yourself up for disappointment. I genuinely needed to make a few target runs last week… the first time I searched so hard and nothing. Second time I cared a little less. Third time I had zero hope and decided to give it a try… and there it was, in the sports water bottle section just one lonesome Stanley travel tumbler amongst a sea of other powder coated pastel water tumblers. My husband performed a thorough visual inspection and to our surprise it was flawless, not a single ding, scratch, sign of being tampered with… and it was in the pink landscape pattern. My husband performed a thorough visual inspection and to our surprise it was flawless, not a single ding, scratch, sign of being tampered with… and it was in the pink landscape pattern. Basically baby pink with a subtle cute graphic baby pink landscape detail at the bottom. I digress. The handle is amazing, probably my favorite feature. The handle is generous and sturdy. My husband’s big 6’3” hands can hold it comfortably. The cup barely fits in my 2016 prius cup holder, it’s like 3/4 in does not touch the base, I’m not mad at it, but wish my cup holder was a touch larger, but I’m for sure not ordering a big cup adapter. I love that the straw / drink hole can be switched to either side of the cup and it always aligns perfectly where you’d need it (perfectly adjacent to the handle for optimal comfort). So basically you can have the straw / drink hold on the left or right side depending on your dominant hand / preference. It does keep my water cold with no ice which I was surprised since the lid is just plastic. Easy to clean, I clean it every day. Versatile, can be used with or without a straw. Although I would imagine tipping this thing into your mouth without a straw could be mildly awkward. Is this product over hyped? To me, yes. Do I want maybe one more? Kind of. One is more than enough. Not sure why other brands haven’t made a product identical to this… yeti is the closest one but yeti doesn’t have a straw option. I personally feel that target should make this a permanent collection. Or like at least keep the product permanently and switch out colors every year or so.... Show more

When Performance is Key

Overall - If you need a tumbler that's going to keep cold things cold and hot things hot, this one could be for you. I was so impressed that it still had ice in it after leaving it for an entire morning sitting in my hot car. I live in Florida, and the heat here is no joking matter. It also doesn't perspire on the outside of the mug in the heat, so you don't end up with puddles of water around the base. Dump a tray of ice in with your beverage and you're good to go.Pros - In addition to its amazing ability to keep ice in heat; this mug holds a lot, approximately 40oz. It also has a delightful straw. The straw! I thought it would be awkward to have a large sturdy plastic straw, but it turned out to be great. The straw! I thought it would be awkward to have a large sturdy plastic straw, but it turned out to be great. For some reason, I end up drinking more water throughout the day and this mug is big enough to support that.Cons - This product has a few downsides. The lid, when on and in the closed position, still leaks. I would love to be able to toss the tumbler anywhere and know that I'm not going to have a spill. The handle. It's designed on an angle to support the weight of the cup, and it's extremely sturdy. The problem is that it is built for large hands, there is a recessed screw on the underside of the top of the handle, and the color of the handle doesn't exactly match. The recessed screw doesn't pose any safety hazard, but it can have a less-than-ideal hand-feel if you grab the handle at the top near the mug. The lack of color matching between the plastic handle and the cup is a small detail, and in some light settings it's not noticeable. But as a designer, it's these small details that bother me. I have smaller hands, so it feels better to carry this tumbler near the bottom, especially when full. It might also be nice if the metal part around the top of the mug was wider. Currently, if you sip out of the tumbler without the lid on, your lip can feel the surface change between the textured side and the smoother metal. Again, a small detail, but worth noting.Other: If this is going to be marketed for hot items, it'd be great if it could be microwaveable.... Show more
