Stanley Cross 90 Cross Line Red Beam Laser Level STHT77502-1

This range of Laser products are not worth the price, the glass in the housing is ridiculously fragile compared to most other brands products and can’t even handle light DIY use, don’t waste your money on this, I’ve had mine less than two months and it’s now only good for landfill. I approached Stanley tools about repairing this device (even if it was at my own cost) and they were responded that they were simply not interested. Spend £20 more and buy a better brands more reliable product.

First a bit about the operation. When you switch it on, you get the horizontal and vertical front projection. You can then add the additional 90 degree vertical line. These are the only options you get, e.g. you can't have just the vertical lines, or just the horizontal line. For this reason I've only given it four out of five stars for performance.The lines are nice and clear, even towards the limits of its range. It's very quick to switch on and settle, and is easy to use. The clamp it comes with is useful and gives a good degree of flexibility. I've only had it a couple of days so can't comment about reliability, but it looks well made.The case is terrible - it's too large for just the level, but then you can't quite fit the additional bracket in it. The DeWalt is undoubtedly higher quality. In the end I chose this as it has more application in a domestic DIY environment - the DeWalt's magnetic grip isn't that useful in a domestic setting (my house doesn't have lots of exposed steel girders), whereas the bracket this Stanley comes with means you can attach it to any doorframe. The second 90 degree vertical line is also useful and is something the DeWalt doesn't have.In summary, if you're looking for one for domestic use or if you need the second 90 degree vertical line, then this is great - you won't regret it. If you need one where you're doing a lot of work on building or agricultural sites (where there are lots of exposed steel girders to easily attach to), or need the better accuracy, and you don't need the second vertical line, then spend the extra money and get the DeWalt.

It’s a difficult decision to spend money on something that a bubble in a level has severed you so well for many year….. but once you start using it your like why did I struggle for so long before!This is not a top of the range so there are few things that you will want but to be honest it’s brilliant. Buy some spare batteries as the pair supplied are not the best.If you want a hard case to fit the bracket and level buy the DEWLAT or just buy a lock and shut box.
