Very disappointing that Bunnings continues to stock a product that flat out does not do the job it claims to do. Beeps continuously and alarms for electricity *everywhere*. Reviews on Stanley own website say the same. Stop ripping off consumers and adding to environmental waste with products that do not meet the *most basic* of expectations.

I bought this in store without checking reviews and i am so disappointed with this purchase. It bips all the time even on solid brick walls that have no studs. And i recently renovated and rewired the whole house so I know where studs are apart from one room that I wanted to check.And worse: it doesn't have a nice pad so when you slide it on a wall it leaves plenty of scratches.The ergonomic of pressing the button while sliding the device is also appalling.I don't get how this product passed quality control

I have had excellent results finding a stud on which to mount my antique long clock. I was also concerned about not hammering in mounting nails through electrical cables as my preferred mounting position was very close to a light switch and NBN cables. While the instructions that came with this stud finder could be better, I found via You Tube that the trick is to calibrate the unit properly. This is easily done. Then I was able to accurately find the centre of the stud and confirm that no cables ran anywhere near. Very happy.

Bought this to hang a TV in the master bedroom. Found the studs on first pass, rechecked several times and it found the studs in pretty much the same position over and over again, may have been + or - 5mm of the centre.The only complaint was from my wife who asked if I could turn the sound off as it scared the dog.Follow the instructions on the card, and it works fine, start on one side of the wall and move slowly towards the other direction holding the button down. I did get a couple of false AC reads and I suspect it was detecting screws in the plaster board.For what I paid, it is perfect for the occasional use and I wish I had it when I had some heavy pictures to hang in my granddaughter's room. I don't know what people are whinging about...suspect they just don't know how to use it properly. This little beauty works a charm and not only finds the stud edge but the stud center. What more could you want? For the price magnificent. I did quite a number of runs to ensure consistency and if I was a tradey in a rush couldn't spend that much time checking but for a DIY occasional user, works a treat. Same again with the electrical tester...just do multiple runs from left & right to ensure the results are the same each time. Provided great peace of mind and having used it can attest it did work.
I bought this stuff finder after being recommended by one of the staff members. The first time ever in my life, when I thought I would use a stud finder...I used this piece of crap. I was so disappointed by myself....it found a stud in 3 different location... As far as I know, studs are straight. And then when I tried to find a stud behind my tv.... No matter where I put it, I always detected wires. As if there is a web of wires..I watched so many videos to find out what am I doing wrong.... But thanks to the reviews here. It wasn't me.... It was this crap.I thought Stanley is a good brand :(
I have used a few different finders over the years, and I cannot fault this one. Is consistent and accurate.I cannot work out why everyone else is having problems with the unit, maybe never used one before and do not know how to use one of these.
Total rubbish and a waste of money. Picture instructions are gobble gook, meaningless. When I tried to use by guessing it found live wires all over the wall, not possible of course and didn't try drilling as too dangerous.
I bought this and then returned the next day. It is not reliable. It was showing live wire thought there was none and the AC led kept on flashing. I tried on different walls and different places but it never helped me once to find a stud. It was such a waste of time. I had to return it. May be invest in a most expensive one which actually work.
i had brought this to put up floating shelves, i used it all over the walls in my house and it was extremely useless, the A/C electrical signal would go off every time i moved it around and it kept getting intermittent signals for studs. So i tried testing it on an empty cupboard and it still kept giving the electric signals. So i scanned it on my belly and it was still showing electrical signals and studs (i knw im a stud lol). Should be a kids toy tbh.
