I received these products for free from Influenster and Starbucks in exchange for my honest review. As I lived for a few years in Italy, I generally prefer a quite short and strong espresso, but it’s great that these espresso pods are suitable for both short and a bit longer shots, depending on time of a day… This morning I made the Starbucks Dark Roast as Ristretto, and it woke me up instantly. It has a rich and reasonably strong aroma, with a slight sweetness of caramel, making it less bitter and more balanced. I was pleasantly surprised with a strength of a smell of this coffee! Tomorrow I will make a standard size espresso… Overall, this is really a good alternative to using Nespresso pods! Definitely on my shopping list from now on! Flat white, cappuccino, piccolo, short black, long black, iced latte, with sugar/ without, cold brew as well. This coffee is a really bitter, with an overbearing smoky undertone, much like the taste of a cigarette. Sometimes coffee can be smoky for one of four reasons. 1. The beans were over roasted in the production process2. they are then over roasted3. stale coffee beans4. if left in a hot pot for too long sitting there staying warm. Seeing as i used these pods straight away and was stored in a cool dry place, they should not be stale. Secondly i dont have a hot pot. So it leaves the first two reasons for its smokiness. I found this coffee was best served black and absolutely zero milk! With milk, it made it taste really really bitter, undrinkable, as thought it was off and sour. I also found the cold brew to be less bitter and smoky than served hot as well. Adding a little bit of honey or sugar was basically a MUST. Think of it like a really crappy coffee, like some instant coffees. Would i buy this coffee again?Firstly these were gifted, secondly absolutely not. The coffee was so burnt and bitter it left the taste of cigarette in my mouth all day, and i dont even smoke cigarettes! Way too smoky for my liking. I prefer a smoother taste. I feel mass producing beans causes these beans to be over roasted taking away the beautiful flavor they naturally create. Whereas a smaller boutique limited edition would be a better flavour because of the care put into preserving the flavour on a smaller scale.

Didn’t pay attention n bought pods instead of kcup

Ok, so i have a tradition of buying myself a sm caramel frapp, at Mcds but due to me paying n not gtn the extra expresso shot! Id rather do it at home! Huge mistake! My damaged brain, didn’t think pods n k cups are diffirent!! I used one! Didn’t poke thru, had to do it myself! N ran hot water choice thru it!! Guess i will have to return these expresso shots! N look for the correct k cups! Which i bet will be more $$$! They smell wonderful tho! Idk yet about the affect they’d give?
