This is a great concept! I would love to be able to have some WiFi while traveling and camping. But Starlink is SO finicky! Gosh forbid there are any trees where you camp. Or... is that a CLOUD? Well then forget having any service! I just camped for a week, and found the most clear spot to locate my device, made sure it was aimed in the right direction, etc. I had no decent service from it at any point in time.

The mini is a bit overpriced IMO, however it makes up for that in portability and functionality. The ability for wide power input makes it very versatile for mobile operations. It is quite small, fitting in a small backpack or a slim briefcase, along with cabling and a USB-C PC capable power cell you can function anywhere.

Was on the fence about keeping this as its primary use was going to be for emergencies. Some higher power must of have spoken because our internet went out a week after receiving this product. Opened the box, plugged it in, and was able to get internet within 10 minutes (which included 5 minutes to sign up and 2 minutes to figure out how it worked) We live in a dead zone so relying on cell signal to be able to communicate wasn’t an option. Decent up/down speeds. May need to get a travel router to extend the range if you’re planning on using for whole house, but other than that, this thing has worked flawlessly. Needless to say, we’re keeping it.

The documentation included minimal instructions and diagrams on the inside of the box which were not the easiest to read, along with a pamphlet which folded out to the size of an old broadsheet newspaper( two sides) with regulatory information from 32 different countries. The biggest drawback is with the power supply. The included power cord, about 50 feet long, is of such low amperage rating that the"mini" won't run off of a 12 volt source. The kit includes a 120 volt Ac to 30 volt DC adapter plug, not quite in accordance with the marketing photos showing the mini attached to a hikers backpack. A better supply cord and/or a step-up transformer solved the problem.
As it stated it requires a clear view of the sky. I can’t because of trees surrounding my property but thought it would be pointed up higher. It works and works well but disconnects every few minutes telling me there are obstructions.
Loving this little device. On my initial test, I got speeds of around 200mbps using the standard mini roam plans.Only thing I wish it had was a built in usb-c so I can use any cable to power it, or at least include a dc to usb-c cable. It works great off a battery bank once you get an appropriate 3rd party cable
Everything I’ve researched about this product has been true. From its simplicity in setting up to its connectivity, I needed this for my travel trailer to ensure a strong Internet connection and it service me and my family. Well everywhere we’ve gone. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable Internet source outside of Name, consumer brand
At first I was skeptical about this system, but after I got the first kit, I quickly bought another kit, and at the same time I ordered the Mini. I love the versatility of the mini, and the notion of being alway connected to the internet on the go, at home and at the office. In short, Starlink is a great option for anyone who wants reliable internet. We gave up COX and replaced it with Starlink. No only has our connection improved, but we are saving money monthly as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about wanting and needing to be alway connected.
The starlink mini is an amazing little all-in-one device. It's about the size of a macbook 13inch and fits in a backpack very easily. It runs off of DC power (or AC with the included adapter/plug). It also uses up very little energy (25-40 watts on average).I've seen speeds over 200 mbps with it sitting in the dash of my van. It also works fairly well when driving around town with it hanging in the dash. Would definitely recommend!I received mine shipped from Best Buy within a week of ordering it. Arrived with no issues.
