StarTech Adjustable Under Desk Keyboard Tray

After using it for almost 9 months, i can easily recommend this product to anyone who is looking for affordable yet solid keyboard & mouse tray . Please note if you put extreme pressure on tray it will not stay on locked position but only if you put too much pressure, it happened with me for 2 to 3 times in early months. For home office this is must have product. I got it for $50.00 . I ordered it at full price on Sunday and on Monday it went on sale, i called and they refunded me the difference, took only 10 minutes. I hope this helps someone to make their decision

This product is acceptable. I'm actually ordering a second one for another desk because the price is pretty decent for the product. It is good value. Not the best keyboard tray out there but it works. The actual tray that the keyboard sits on is curved. The product images do show it, I just never noticed it. So if you have a long keyboard, it might rock a bit. I put some of that non-slip stuff (something you would put in the drawers of your tool chest) to stop the keyboard from sliding around and rocking. Some reviews have complained that the tray doesn't stay where you adjust it. I haven't found that. You certainly can't put your weight on it but it does hold the weight of my arms when I'm typing. I was tempted to give it only four stars because of the prevalence of styrofoam packaging (ugh!) but like this so much I had to give it the maximum of five stars.This keyboard drawer is NOT flimsy - at least, not compared to the others that are out there, made of plastic and a bit of metal. While you couldn't sit on this one, it'll hold a heavy keyboard and not move downward because of a heavy hand - at least, not if you've tightened the easily accessible knob enough to have it remain in one place. I have bought it to work with manual sit stand base from prime cables because minimum height for sit stand base is good for 6 feet tall person.However this tray cannot be optimally installed with the sit stand base from prime cable as there is a bar across sit stand base that blocks the installation of this tray. I am happy with the product. I got it to help take pressure off of my upper back. I used to have the keyboard and mouse on top of the desk. This caused me to lean forward and extend my hands which put strain on my upper back. Having the tray lower and more towards me has helped reduce this stress point. Install took about 30 minutes. I am happy with the amount of adjustment and the rigidity. If I were to install it again I would move it further away from the drawers. I have lost some of the pivot due to this. This is my installation issue so not a product deficiency. I liked it enough that we got a second one for a colleague.

I really loved this product when I bought it, and I originally gave it 5 stars. It is easy to install, and I really like the design. The tray is wide enough to easily accommodate a full sided keyboard and mouse. Two problems, however. First, no matter how tightly you lock it in place, it seems like the tray slowly creeps down, so every few days I find myself having to unlock it, raise it, then relock it. Now, it has started this thing where the tray won’t push in all the way, and I will have to force it to get it to go in completely, which requires considerable force. Maybe some lubrication would fix it; I am trying to work with it because I like everything else.

Pros: There are none. Terrible design where table surface doesnt stay up and there is significant movement in the hinge mechanism so you can't type properly.Cons: Buy the MK2 model which has a spring loaded hinge rather than this flawed screw mechanism. Can't believe this is still being offered for sale.

Pretty solid purchase, creative install

I didn't install this, my maintenance team lead did, but I watched him do it and it was a fairly easy install. A second pair of hands was helpful to get the first 1-2 screws in, but he could have done it solo.I have a standing desk though, and the install bar was too long. He ended up removing the nut that kept the tray from swiveling and allowed it to swivel all the way. He installed the main bar parallel to the tray itself. Works fine! So the tray slides left to right along with my desk edge, instead of front to back, which is surprisingly convenient if I ever move my monitor setup. The tray can swivel all the way around under the desk and out of the way, too.Con: Tray has a bit of bounce to it, but nothing worth returning.

Everything about the keyboard is fine, exactly as advertised; and an excellent value for the price (especially compared to the ridiculously high cost of alternate products.)There is one notable issue: when you type, it bounces. Slightly, but enough to be annoying.The solution is either to type with a very light touch or weight the board steady by keeping your palms placed heavily on the lead edge of the keyboard (which is what I do.)Also, I found that the padding on the lead edge of the board annoyed the wrist of my mouse hand; the rear edge of it ends rather abruptly and cuts into my wrist in a way that aggravates my unrelated carpal tunnel...
