I actually use it in my kitchen, as I spend a lot of time standing in the kitchen. And, I cannot believe how much it actually helps ease the pressure on my feet. The mat conforms to the shape of my feet in my slippers. It feels so good to stand on it. I noticed less pain and fatigue in the bone area of my feet. As a teacher, the last thing I want to do is to stand on my feet for a long time at home... This has become a God-send for me. Cleaning is also easy. Use a paper towel with a little bit of detergent and water to wipe the surface and it becomes nice and clean again. As you could tell from the picture, my cat also loves it.

I do not work at a desk so had no use for it there. My sole reason for getting this was because I have bad knees, one of which is artificial now. I thought it would be nice to use in the kitchen. It is. It works fine there and my legs feel comfortable. It seems to spring back into shape after each use. I am a senior so, for other seniors with knee problems, they too may have a place they frequently stand in the house where this can be of use. Senior needs overall seem to be different from those in other age groups.

The mat has a lot of gas off-letting. I put it outside overnight and the gas disappeared. I like the beveled edge all around the edge of the mat. It does keep one from tripping. I have been trouble with pain in my knees while standing static or sitting at my computer for some time. The mat really does help. I use it in the kitchen while standing static chopping items for meals. I tend to drop some of the foods on the mat, but it has a smooth surface that is easily wiped clean as needed or I can just pick it up and dump it in the trash. This STARTECH ANTI-FATIGUE MAT FOR STANDING DESKS (20" x 30" - STSMAT) isn't the thickest anti-fatigue mat that I’ve ever tried, but it's very springy, and definitely thick enough to provide needed cushioning at a standing desk. The size is perfect for one person at a single standing workstation. The beveled edges are a significant feature, worth paying for, because they (1) keep the edges from curling up with use, and (2) help prevent tripping over the edges when you step onto the mat. The underside has a nobbly surface that lightly grips the floor. That surface and the weight of the mat itself keep the mat in place so that it doesn't slide easily around the floor.
This is a high quality anti-fatigue mat that is not just for use at standing desks. I have purchased several different brands over the years and there is a difference in price, but that generally reflects quality. This mat is a great size for a desk, but also for anyone that stands at a workbench, or even at the kitchen sink. The material is sturdy and has enough cushioning to be comfortable, but not so much that one feels unstable. The surface is easy to keep clean with a damp cloth. Mat does not slip on floor surfaces, at least hardwood and tile. The beveled edge makes it more attractive and prevents tripping on the edge. We have this in our kitchen as we do a lot of standing while cooking. This is a nontraditional use but it really allowed us to test how well this works since we stand on this while barefoot or with slippers. The mat is very thick and very cushy. It easily reduces the stress and fatigue of standing and can make standing for long periods a lot easier. The price is high but about on par with other mats I have used. The real beauty is how well this has held up and the dark color even protects against stains and wear marks. Considering how well this works and its durability this is easily a 5 star product.
We have to anti-fatigue mats in our kitchen. One of them is the one in this review, and the other one is made by a competitor. They are both the same size and both are dark colored. The main difference between this anti-fatigue mat and others yes that in my experience the other one is a little more stiff under foot. This mat is a touch softer than others that I have used in the past. That said, it is still comfortable, durable, and has served well in my kitchen for a couple of months now. My wife and I use our kitchen a lot! If this was not a durable product, it would already be messed up. However, it is holding up very well and does not appear to stain and it certainly has not torn or had other damage done to it. We recommend it highly.
