Color/finish: White. The Essential French Oven with Chistera lid is the latest star in the cast iron collection. Like Staubs signature flat lid, the domed Chistera lid has excellent self-basting properties. Usually, a convex lid causes condensation to fall to the sides. The innovative, Chistera drop-structure lid solves this problem by putting a twist on traditional spikes. Moisture cascades from the whole lid. This continuous basting guarantees delectable roast chicken and braised short ribs. Measures 12.3in x 9.8in x 5.8in.

I recently purchased this Dutch oven because I saw it was on sale and I wanted to invest in a high quality product that would last me for years. I have been eyeing Le Creuset's Dutch ovens for some time until I read all the reviews for the Staub iron cast cookware raving about it's unique features (dark interior for better braising, textured inner lid which aids to baste your food with additional moisture). Additionally, I loved the deep colors of the Staub Dutch oven line more than the Le Creuset Dutch ovens even though there are more colors to choose from the Le Creuset line. So I took the plunge and ordered my first quality piece of cookware from Staub and I was not disappointed. My order came within three days, and right out the box, you can really tell that Staub's Dutch oven is a well made product. [Staub's Dutch oven is of] Solid construction and heft, the majolique finish is absolutely stunning (I ordered mine in the Sapphire Blue color) and it cooked my first meal to perfection. Clean up was a breeze and I love that the interior of the cookware is dark to resist staining and discoloration during cooking. I even followed the instructions that came with my Dutch oven to brush the interior with light plant-based oil (I used vegetable oil) to further enhance the non-stick quality of the interior. This was simply a recommendation from the instruction booklet, but in my mind if this cookware is a personal investment to last forever then why not follow through. I look forward to putting this pot to good routine use and I am now sold as a Staub cookware enthusiast! I plan on adding the larger cocotte and braiser to my staple cookware collection. I'm a very happy with my decision to purchase Staub's cookware and look forward to purchasing again.

I was lucky to score one in a sale. It supposedly had minor imperfections. I didn’t see any but promptly put a chip on it when it slipped from my hands in the sink. Oh, well. It is still drop dead gorgeous, the perfect size for me and I love cooking with it.

This is such a beautiful piece of cookware that (like other reviewers) I keep it on the stove top when not in use - I just don't want to hide it away in a cupboard! I've used it twice already; for a scrumptious beef stew and sauerbraten. I can't wait to try more recipes!Clean up was so easy and the Dutch oven still looks like new -- even the underside that was in contact with the flame. Good quality, heavy cast iron construction with lovely dark, but rugged blue enamel.Although the outer box apparently got roughed up a bit in transit, the interior packaging was intact and designed to provide lots of extra protection.I'm so glad that I made this purchase.

I bought my Staub Cast Iron 3.75-qt Essential French Oven (Lily embossed) at a William Sonoma store in Washington, DC suburbs. I had already been using Staub Perfect Pan for a couple of years and had been impressed by the quality of the both interior matte enamel as well as the external enamel. Staub is my all time favorite cast iron enamel cookware. Made in France, never needsseasoning and works on my induction cooktop. Oven safe to 500 degrees which allows for perfect browning. The lids on this pan are slightly different than the traditional flat lids on the other Staub pieces I own. The Essential pan lid is slightly domed containing a chistera shaped design which self bastes the same way the spikes in the traditional lid do. This designmakes for a lighter lid that still has self basting properties. The best of both worlds, and reasonably priced.
I bought this in white truffle to have two Staub pots for baking two loaves o sourdough bread at once. I bought the graphite color two years ago and wanted a creamy white to complement it. The pictures of the white truffle color are not true, however—it is actually a mottled light gray, not a creamy white like I thought it would be. I thought they had shipped me the wrong color at first. It’s still nice but not what I was expecting.
If you’re reading this, you know about the unparalleled Staub quality. I own quite a few pieces but this one is the workhorse the kitchen, due to the perfect size. Hard boil some eggs? Check. Make a batch of soup for 2 or 3? Yup. Cook some noodles or spinach as a side dish? Perfect. Not too heavy so that it is cumbersome for this 60 year old. You won’t regret it!
My 23-year-old Le Creuset soup pot fizzed out and before I realized that they're still being made, I found and ordered this in blue--and boy did I make the right call! I don't at all miss the light interior of the soup pot--or pasta sticking to the bottom (which, in all fairness, didn't happen in the early years of use). The boil was amazing ... and every morsel slid easily from the pot to the colander. Look forward to using this pot for my famous seafood stew. Thanks, Staub ... and Everything Kitchens.
Game changing chef’stool. Every kitchen should have one. Excellent housewarming gift. I use this for Dutch Apple Pancakes, soup, chili, small roasts with no leftovers, (i have family of 7 with grown children) skillet bakes, chicken and dumplings and is an EXCELLENT rice cooker. No more cold rice! I also own a 7qt coquette by Staub, but only break it out for 7 and 8 lb roasts. Do. Not. Hesitate. With supply chain what it is, I dont wait on sales. This is a lifetime piece, so i didn't quibble over 20 dollars. I ended up buying a mint floor model (I was seeking specifically Matte Black with brass handle). It’s the “professional grade” finish, more durable, and better heat tolerance. i currently own two in this finish and a Staub 2021 pumpkin in Burnt Orange. Looking to compliment with a side dish 3.25 Qt demi french oven in Grenadine. Looks great with my copper pots. Cleanup with Dawn and cotton rag. I use organic canola to season, no problems with rust as it is enameled inside and out. Goodbye teflon!!
This pot is very much like a Japanese nabe, a traditional braising pot that comes to the table bubbling with a delicious stewy something that is scooped over rice and enjoyed family style. If you have any dish in your recipe file that meets that description, then this is the pot for you too. This pot is a little lighter than an equivalent size cocotte.3.75-qt is a good size for a family of 4 or 5, unless there are big eaters in the bunch. And if this is your first Staub, all the good stuff you've read is true. The black enamel interior makes for better browning and easy clean up. The beautiful enameled exterior will won't chip or peel (don't do anything crazy, ok?) and the range of cooking styles you can do in this pot is awesome - low and slow to super high heat ... MoreThis pot is very much like a Japanese nabe, a traditional braising pot that comes to the table bubbling with a delicious stewy something that is scooped over rice and enjoyed family style.
