I can't say enough good about the Stab collection of utensils. The first thing I want to rave about is the wood handle...it is so smooth and shaped in a comfortable curve. Some of my cheaper wood handled utensils are so rough and uncomfortable to hold but these are truly high quality. The silicone bottom reaches up high along the handle to protect the wood from coming in contact with your ingredients although it cleans up nicely anyway and repels moisture. The skimming ladle helps to take that top layer off without loosing the broth you want to remain in your pot. This is perfect for your Staub cocottes but also goes easy on all your cookware including your nonstick pots and pans.

This beautiful skimming ladle does a great job straining juice from a pot of meat, skimming off the top of stock. The wood handle is durable and beautiful. The blade silicone is extremely durable and heat resistant. Buy two and they would make great tongs for serving salads.

I love skimming ladles, although I find that a misnomer. They are fine for skimming - especially when you're pulling ravioli and gnocchi out of the cooking liquid, but I use these for blanching vegetables all the time. This one is particularly good for peas, chopped broccoli & carrots, etc because it has good scoop to it. There's a little depth there. Plus it is rustically attractive.The silicone is fine for heat - boiling water or deep frying. And the natural wood handle is comfortable. Hand wash so the wood doesn't dry out.
This ladle is well made and meant to be a premium item. Some items are cheaper but this one is meant to look and feel good. I like it.* The silicone is rigid with some slight flexibility to it.* It's not a fine mesh skimming ladles. Holes are 9 mm (about 3/8") wide* The head is 9 cm (about 3.5") wide so approximately the size of a palm* I often use it instead of my spider to pick dumplings, floating chunks of meat/vegetables, etc... since the shape & silicone is easier to clean.* It has a straight shape so it's practical for pans & dutch oven; less so with deep pots.
Great tool to use for deep frying, gnocchi pasta, etc. especially since it will drain excess water, grease back into the pot. The Acacia wood handle is a nice durable wood, great for tools being used in the kitchen daily. The silicone makes for easy cleaning and safe scraping along the sides and bottom of your enameled Staub pieces.
It's great for skimming, scooping, perfect for deep frying it'll drain excessive oil and liquid. Excellent for Ballarini non-stick and any ceramic coated pots and pans, works for every Zwilling cookware. This spoon is durable, lightweight and less fatigue because it contours to my hand. It is manufactured with premium quality and high temperature resistance silicone with beautiful acacia wood handle. Handwashing is recommended.
I have many of Staub's cooking tools and this is one of my favorites. Not only does it skim but I use it for pulling meat bones out of stock. There is no flexibility in it so nothing falls off the ladle. The silicone part of the tool goes up to 500F.
