I have some other Staub pans and love them. We recently got an induction stove so I bought this skillet. For whatever reason, everything sticks in it. I don't use high heat and am careful to use enough oil to cover the bottom and sides. The finish looks differently than my other Staub pans. Ideas from other users would be great!

A joy to useIn have owned a couple of Le Creuset Dutch ovens for thirty years. They are very good but 13 years ago my wife bought me my first Staub on the recommendation of one of the sales people at E Dehellerin in Paris. It won my heart. This was before their products were widely available in Canada and I felt that I possessed a secret because none of my friends were familiar with Staub at the time. That is different now and Staub cast iron wear is now widely available and even goes on sale. An excellent pan and a big upgrade from my no-name enameled pans. Lighter, heats quickly and evenly and give great results. The French toast I made had magazine worthy browning with no blotchiness. Not inexpensive, but high quality. My only minor issue is the handle is set a little low so you have to be aware of where your knuckles are when grabbing it.

I got the 30 cm frying pan. After following the seasoning process and using the pan for the first time, there was a black stain in the middle of the pan that remained. This is not normal so I called the retailer where I purchased it and they told me that I need to deal with the Stuab directly, which I did. After sending them a photo of the stain, I was told that in fact this is not normal and was asked to send them the pan for inspection and replacement. However, the shipping costs are at my own expense. Why would I ship a pan that weighs so much? it will cost me more to ship it than just go out and buy a new one? Anyhow after fighting with them back and forth customer service (Zwilling) refused to cover my shipping costs, I called the retailer where I purchased it ... MoreI got the 30 cm frying pan. BTW the retailer has also told me that they have been having issues with many Staub products and have decided to stop selling the line..
We have slowly been collecting Staub cookware, and this deep skillet was our most recent addition. The size is perfect. It's deep enough that you don't have to worry about food spilling over. All Staub products are incredibly well-made heirloom pieces. The grenadine color is the one we've been collecting. The color is absolutely gorgeous- rich and deep and it has a lovely shine. I highly recommend this deep skillet!
I love my Staub skillet. I keep finding dishes that need a skillet as an excuse to use this pan. Browns beautifully and has amazing heat distribution. I do have to wait for this pan to warm up?but that is the case with all cast iron cookware. Love the black interior?don't have to worry about staining the inside. The black interior does not make it harder to see my food and know where it is in the cooking process. Great pan.
I’ve waited a while to write this after a few months of use. The quality and finish of this pan is fantastic. However, my wife’s cooking experience with the pan has isn’t what she expected due to cost and hype. After a few sessions where food stuck to the pan (yes she used plenty of oil like what was recommended), she remarked to me that she wasn’t impressed. I’ve noticed that she’s gone back to using her Lodge pan instead. Which is a bummer because it was a Mother’s Day gift. Now it sits on the stove and looks pretty.
I knew something was missing from my life but didn’t realize it was this skillet. I love it like a first born. The Staub gods definitely blessed us mortals with this one. I’ve never achieved such a perfect sear! This skillet is so multifunctional. I can cook anything in it with a good preheat. I’ve gifted this skillet and plan to keep it on my default gifting list!I also own the 10” fry pan which is now rather neglected because I always reach for this one unless I need both. If you’re on the fence about the fry pan or skillet, I highly recommend the skillet. The taller sides help with splatter and hold more volume. The flatter sides allow more bottom surface area. Yum!The skillet seemed heavy, but I quickly got used to the weight! It’s definitely less of a workout to wash than a cocotte.Side note: I do recommend getting a slide-on handle holder or using a kitchen towel because the handle can get burning hot!
