This mouse is basically the Prime with a extra sensor for LOD which might not be something you need. I personally prefer a higher LOD so the regular Prime performed just fine for me. What I like though is the extra screen on the bottom which you can use to customize the features and settings of the mouse so you don't need to go into Steelseries engine. For the rest of the review I'll paste what I said about the Prime -I have tried about 50~ gaming mice and so far this has been my favorite. Most importantly the shape is amazing the way its set up! Large ergo hump in the back, but thins out in the grip width quite nice. This mouse is usually on display at Best Buy so you can get a feel for it. The next thing i really like that I wasnt expecting are the main buttons ... I was using logitech mice before and they have adjustable weights so having this super lightweight mouse was very different. The jog wheel is nice and smooth it has RGB lighting though I prefer logitech's option to switch between a clicky or smooth. My main complaint is that I have a medium size mouse pad and the cord the prime+ has rubs and gives a lot of friction. But it is removable so you can swap your own. I had to put a pen under the cable so that it wouldn't drag so much. Maybe they did this to make you go and pick the wireless mouse instead. The 2nd complaint is the side buttons are just very difficult to hit. They are just a little ... I've owned a plethora of mice. Ergonomic, tons, Symmetrical quite a few. So I'm going to just compare this to ergonomic. My main go to for Ergonomic was the g703, Deathadder V2 Ultimate. No comparing the shape it is very similar to the ec2-c from zowie and the model D. Sizing of this is kind of in the medium area, not as big as the Deathadder but bigger than a ec2 zowie. Im actually liking this mouse a lot. I KNOW the sensor is a 3335 """""""" true move air i believe is what they call it"""""""". The LOD isn't as low as a Logitech or razer but it isn't by any means a High LOD. no deviation from what I've noticed either but if it has any I cant tell. Scroll wheel is a nice click and scroll as well and the mouse texture is a matte finish which is Super grippy so I didn't need to install any grips on it. all in all, one of my favorite mice so far. Pros: - Good sensor, feels accurate and responsive - INCREDIBLE feeling optical switches for 1 and 2! - USB Type-C charging port - Good battery life - Includes wireless adapter for the charging cable/dongle - Pretty good stock feet (with tiger ices already available) - Shape feels like a slightly less refined EC-2, but still alright - Coating is good, but I wish it were a a little smoother (I think it would get more grip that way) - Really solid feeling construction Cons: - Side buttons are tiny - Scroll wheel is kind of hard to press consistently (but still scrolls well) - Weight should go down at least 10g, I feel like ~70g would feel fantastic with this mouse Thoughts: Have you ever really wanted to use a product because of a single really, really good feature it ... For me, it's the optical switches on this mouse. No joke, these new optical switches feel so phenomenal, that I'm willing to put up with my gripes just to feel the clicks. Looking at their design on steelseries' website, they look like they should maintain their click feel forever, but only time will tell on that. If you don't know how they work, basically you press down on the button to actuate a spring that's held in place by a neodymium magnet that snaps down and breaks the laser beam to register a click. They do really feel light, but snappy. The shape is very reminiscent of a Zowie EC-2, with the main difference being that the curves aren't quite as defined. It's not awful, but I think that those curves would have made a little bit of a better shape. The coating for the body is okay, but I think it would have been more grippy if it were a little more fine. I always feel a little worried that the mouse is going to slip out of my hand. It sort of has a dry feeling to it if that makes any sense. The surface is vastly better than their rubberized sides in my opinion. The side buttons are teeny tiny for no reason. They really should be at least twice the size and stick out a little more. I feel like I'm going out of my way to hit them compared to other mice. The scroll wheel also feels a little hard to consistently press, but I think it's something that could be gotten used to. I think that with the combination of the slightly off EC-2 shape, dry feeling surface, and 80g weight, it can feel heavier than it is sometimes. I really think this mouse could have benefited greatly from being a little lighter. I imagine the wired versions feel pretty good, but I just love not slapping around a cable. Conclusion: Steelseries is finally moving in the right direction with their mice. They've always boasted about really gimmicky stuff as being some new revolutionary thing they've invented, but this time they're on to something with their OM switches. If these can feel as good from click 1 to click 100 million as they claim, then the design absolutely needs to be copied by other brands. As they feel right now, I actually prefer these optical switches to any mechanical switch I've tried. If this changes, I'll be sure to note approximately when they started to fade and under how much use. I don't think I'd say that this can 100% be the wireless EC-2 you're looking for, but it is a solid wireless ergo entry into the market.
Pros: -Lightweight (I believe 60ish grams is the sweet spot) -Amazing feeling tactile clicks that are not stiff, HOWEVER (more on that below) -Sensor is snappy. LOD is low enough where adjusting it is not required -It's nice medium sized mouse (despite it being labeled as a 'mini') Cons: -The side buttons are flushed so much that you can barely feel them when trying to actuate them -The SteelSeries Engine software doesn't give you any options to reduce the button latency or adjust the LOD -For optical switches, this mouse's button latency has similar performance with mice that have mechanical switches (I did a lot of bump tests with my Viper Mini). You would think optical switches would give you a superior button response time than mechanical switches. Not with this ... You would think optical switches would give you a superior button response time than mechanical switches. Not with this mouse. It's on par with my Zowie mice (and those use stiffer mechanical Huano switches). Overall: I bought this mouse because it was on sale for $51 here on Home Essentials Direct. Otherwise, I would've given it a pass. It took me a while to get used to it because I'm so used to ambi mice that aiming with an ergo mouse took a lot of adjusting for my 19cm hands. It's a great mouse if you don't use the side buttons much in my opinion. Overall, it's a decent mouse.
The Steelseries Prime Plus Precision ESports Gaming Mouse overall has been an improvement from other gaming mouses I have used in the past. The grip is smooth and doesn't have the bulky feel that can sometimes be common in competing products. The thing that sticks out to me over previous gaming mice I've had is that the scroll wheel is smooth and doesn't stick or lose functionality over time which was a poor experience for me in the past. The CPI button and visual interface on the bottom of the mouse, while neat, is not something I would ever go out of my way to have when shopping for a gaming mouse in the future. I would be just as satisfied if there was a piece of software installed with the mouse that would allow the same thing. Overall I think I would purchase ... Pros:-The Prime+ version of this mouse has the best dual-sensors of the 3 iterations.-Very comfortable shape-Tight shapeCons:-Very stiff cable-Micro-USB connection-Despite the matte finish, this mouse is actually quite slippery and SteelSeries did not include anything else other than the cable-The black plastic feet are not as smooth as PTFE feet, they generate quite a bit of friction (yes, I checked to see if there was plastic film protecting the feet).-This may be 71 grams, but it feels quite heavierOverall Thoughts: This is a pretty long mouse. A medium to large mouse in my estimate. Had I seen a demo of this mouse displayed, I would've passed on this mouse. The coating is very slippery. The thumb groove helps a little when picking up this mouse to swipe, but it is quite slippery. I could have just dealt with it but on top of the coating was the very stiff cable and really poor quality feet they slapped onto the bottom of the mouse. It's almost as if SteelSeries is trying to tell you "Don't buy this mouse, buy the wireless version for $50 more."
This mouse is jammed packed with features that you would expect from a mouse in this price range. My favorite part of this mouse is the screen on the bottom that lets you easily customize your settings and change them on the fly. The detachable cord is also a very big advantage. I have lost many mouse cords to the them breaking while being transported. I would definitely recommend this mouse to people who game and are looking for customizability, great feel, and true tracking. This is the most expensive mouse I've ever owned but you know your money was well spent after you feel the difference in quality and materials. Would buy again, but I don't think this one will ever break or need to be replaced.
Update less than 3 months after purchase: Well, less than 3 months into using this mouse, the wheel has started to fail. When scrolling, it sometimes ignores the scroll altogether or scrolls the wrong direction for a single scroll notch. So maybe you want to scroll one notch down a web page and it instead scrolls up one, then when you scroll one more time it works ok. I'm guessing the sensor in the wheel is bad. To open up the mouse, you have to remove the feet, which likely will ruin them. Really disappointed in this as I'd gotten used to the size and weight. Off to another brand hoping for better build quality. Original: Mice are like shoes, so it's difficult to say what works well for everyone. Off to another brand hoping for better build quality. Original: Mice are like shoes, so it's difficult to say what works well for everyone. I use a mouse 14+ h/day for long days at work and then what time I can have saving the universe. I've owned about every brand, both wired and wireless. My latest venture with the SteelSeries was based off a YT vid review that just happened to play. I'd been using a Razer Viper Mini for the past year and while it was a good mouse, it's just a bit too mini for me (average size hands). I've been pleased so far with this mouse. The weight is lighter than most, which I've increasingly grown to appreciate. I don't care much for wireless mice, so this wired one was my preference. The cable is ok - no kinks and with my setup, no drag/pull as I'm moving around. I already had a SteelSeries keyboard, so the software worked without issue picking up the mouse and adjusting settings. I've never had issue with SteelSeries software before, so that's been a non-issue as well. The mouse feels pretty good and has no plastic stuck on the sides like some of SteelSeries other mice. Those glued on pieces are nothing short of a mess over time as they goop out and get on your desk/hands/mouse. This mouse is all solid and is comfortable for long usage times. Clickers work well and the wheel was surprisingly better than I feared - not exactly smoot, not horribly bumpy. Overall, I like this mouse and for the money, feel like I got a good product for the cost. I generally go through mice every 1 to 3 years, depending on how they hold up. I'm hoping this holds up to the task.
I found the Prime + gaming mouse to be very good and a great design choice by Steelseries. The mouse appeals to people who are more serious about gaming by providing a very sleek design without being too flashy. The OLED screen is very unique and even allows the user to provide their own personal touch by changing what is displayed on the screen. The RGB is brought down to a minimum which delivers a much sleeker design for high-end mouses as many feel too bombarded by RGB. The weight is perfect and balanced and the size is good and ergonomic as I have found some other brands were too large even for my hands. However, I do believe the mouse could benefit from a texturized rubber grip on the side similar to that on other gaming mice. The scroll wheel was well textured ... The weight is perfect and balanced and the size is good and ergonomic as I have found some other brands were too large even for my hands. However, I do believe the mouse could benefit from a texturized rubber grip on the side similar to that on other gaming mice. The scroll wheel was well textured and feels smooth. The mouse feels very responsive when clicking. The side buttons however felt a bit too hard when I first used them but I quickly got used to it. To abridge this review, the mouse has great features and does not require many improvements.
