I ran through 2 sets of batteries in 3 weeks. My health isn't good, and going back to the store wasn't something I felt up to. So, a complete waste of $50 and two trips to Microcenter.Did I get two lemons in a row? Probably, given how high other ratings are for this mouse. But ya' know, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me? I'm not buying another one.Only good news is the puppy has matured in the last couple months, so isn't continuing to chew on the cord of my wired SteelSeries mouse, and puppy never quite got through the plastic to the actual wire, so I guess this is what I'm left with.

Using the included 2.4ghz dongle it’s very quick to wake up from standby. The only complaint I have is I hate having to click a button to wake it. I guess it’s for improved battery life (the included batteries lasted about a month) but I would have preferred at least being able to wake it from standby just by wiggling the mouse. Bluetooth takes about 2-3 seconds to wake from standby and reconnect, but I wonder if that’s just my HP laptop slowing things down. It’s a little on the heavy side using both batteries, and a title too lopsided when using only one battery. It was easier to keep both AAA batteries in and get used to the weight since it was too awkward trying to decide which side the single AAA battery should be on. It blinks blue to show its trying to ... MoreUsing the included 2.4ghz dongle it’s very quick to wake up from standby. The only complaint I have is I hate having to click a button to wake it. I would have preferred maybe dimmed or something to show its still connected. It’s awkward at first and takes getting used to.Other than that, size is good, buttons and scroll wheel have that satisfying mechanical feedback.

Non-standard features:- Scrolls sideways, increasingly useful in a browser;- Supports both 2.4 GHz & Bluetooth 5 (switch selectable);- Uses AA batteries (so use rechargeables), which I prefer to an internal battery that would make me wait while it recharges. Not perfect: I wish someone would make a flat mouse with all these features like the Microsoft Surface Mouse. I like that one's form feature (great for travel) but hate lack of a scroll wheel. And I've found the Surface Mouse unreliable. I'm hoping this one IS reliable; it does come with a two year warranty. My other wish is that the scroll wheel wasn't incremented in discrete amounts, but ... MoreStandard features are done well: fits the hand, moves easily, great accuracy, buttons click & scrolling wheel is fluid. You can't for instance scroll a text window like the one I'm typing in now, in very small increments. That's a pain. And it shouldn't be hard to implement, but every mouse with a scroll wheel I've used has this problem. OTOH every trackball alternative I've used for 25 years didn't have this problem, so why this happens with scroll wheels is beyond me. I have other problems with trackball alternatives, the primary one being BestBuy never seems to have one in stock when I need one. This mouse isn't terribly cheap at $60 (BestBuy's house brand wireless mouse costs half that, but my experience with Insignia products is indifferent), but not outrageous either.I had real problems finding wireless alternatives; other than this & the Insignia product mentioned wireless alternatives all appeared to cost much more, if you don't want to use a dongle. Laptops & Windows tablets increasingly come with very few ports: mine offers 2 USB-C ports only, & I have no desire to tie one up with a mouse dongle.

Great budget gaming mouse
4 May 2023

I picked this mouse up to use with my laptop for work and on the road. The Bluetooth is quick and works flawlessly once paired, same can be said for the 2.4ghz dongle. Having both options makes flipping between my work and gaming laptop a breeze when I'm staying in a hotel. Nice and light, and is so far holding up extremely well being tossed around and carried in a bag with minimal protection in the mouse pouch. My previous wireless glorious mouse had a broken scroll wheel after just two week and ran twice the price. The Steel series software uses minimal resources, is easy to navigate, and makes setting up profiles a breeze. If you can snag this thing on sale like I did, it's absolutely worth every penny.

Great value and a solid option!

The Rival 3 is a great shape for claw grip so it’s nice to have a budget wireless option as well without having to go all out on the Aerox 3 Wireless. I ended up gifting this mouse to my cousin and he’s been enjoying it!Pros:- Amazing shape like I said earlier- Amazing build quality (absolutely no rattle or creaking on my copy)- Great feeling main buttons and scroll wheel- Feet glide surprisingly well- Good sensor performance and no lag observed using the 2.4GHz connection- Clean RGB only visible on the scroll wheel- Great value at $49 or on saleCons:- Coating is a bit slippery (I’d recommend getting grip tape)- This is the heaviest of the Rival 3/Aerox 3 line because of the batteries and it’s also back heavy

For me, it's the optical switches on this mouse. No joke, these new optical switches feel so phenomenal, that I'm willing to put up with my gripes just to feel the clicks. Looking at their design on steelseries' website, they look like they should maintain their click feel forever, but only time will tell on that. If you don't know how they work, basically you press down on the button to actuate a spring that's held in place by a neodymium magnet that snaps down and breaks the laser beam to register a click. They do really feel light, but snappy. The shape is very reminiscent of a Zowie EC-2, with the main difference being that the curves aren't quite as defined. It's not awful, but I think that those curves would have made a little bit of a better shape. The coating for the body is okay, but I think it would have been more grippy if it were a little more fine. I always feel a little worried that the mouse is going to slip out of my hand. It sort of has a dry feeling to it if that makes any sense. The surface is vastly better than their rubberized sides in my opinion. The side buttons are teeny tiny for no reason. They really should be at least twice the size and stick out a little more. I feel like I'm going out of my way to hit them compared to other mice. The scroll wheel also feels a little hard to consistently press, but I think it's something that could be gotten used to. I think that with the combination of the slightly off EC-2 shape, dry feeling surface, and 80g weight, it can feel heavier than it is sometimes. I really think this mouse could have benefited greatly from being a little lighter. I imagine the wired versions feel pretty good, but I just love not slapping around a cable. Conclusion: Steelseries is finally moving in the right direction with their mice. They've always boasted about really gimmicky stuff as being some new revolutionary thing they've invented, but this time they're on to something with their OM switches. If these can feel as good from click 1 to click 100 million as they claim, then the design absolutely needs to be copied by other brands. As they feel right now, I actually prefer these optical switches to any mechanical switch I've tried. If this changes, I'll be sure to note approximately when they started to fade and under how much use. I don't think I'd say that this can 100% be the wireless EC-2 you're looking for, but it is a solid wireless ergo entry into the market.

I owned a logitech mouse that this mouse replaced. The buttons on that mouse wore out before the batteries and I used that for nearly 3 years WITH THE SAME BATTERIES.Tonight (5/5/2022) was the final straw. The thing just STOPPED working completely. On Walmart's website, they have lots of reviews about this mouse and they are like what you see here, 4.6 out of 5 stars. Lots of the reviews I had read complained about the battery life (wish I had read them prior to buying it). One of the reviews stated the exact same situation I had. Kept replacing batteries and then it just finally stopped working entirely. I would not recommend this mouse for anyone. More of a headache than it's worth. Take your money and get a different mouse. Spend a little extra and get a Razor gaming mouse or something. I had high hopes for this mouse and it just failed miserably.

This is the mouse you need!!

Ok so i have owned this mouse for about a year and just today it fell in my cat water while my cats were fighting. I heard something fall and hit the dish but didnt think much of it. The mouse sat in the cat water COMPLETELY submerged with batteries in for more than a half hour... I dried it out with a hair dryer for a few minuntes and put it in a sock to spin around for a minute, replaced the batteries and IT WORKS 100% FINE xD! Litterally like it never even happened. I have dropped this mouse and am not the nicest to it. I will absolutly never buy another mouse when this one exists. I dont even want the upgrades this one is absolutely perfect and 100% worth every penny!PS - I believe there are shipping or storage issues and that is why some orders have lower ... MoreOk so i have owned this mouse for about a year and just today it fell in my cat water while my cats were fighting. Return your mouse and get another if you have any problems with it. This should be an amazing mouse that will last you. Its best to buy it from a physical location. :) - Cadence Gabriel Leroux

Update less than 3 months after purchase: Well, less than 3 months into using this mouse, the wheel has started to fail. When scrolling, it sometimes ignores the scroll altogether or scrolls the wrong direction for a single scroll notch. So maybe you want to scroll one notch down a web page and it instead scrolls up one, then when you scroll one more time it works ok. I'm guessing the sensor in the wheel is bad. To open up the mouse, you have to remove the feet, which likely will ruin them. Really disappointed in this as I'd gotten used to the size and weight. Off to another brand hoping for better build quality. Original: Mice are like shoes, so it's difficult to say what works well for everyone. Off to another brand hoping for better build quality. Original: Mice are like shoes, so it's difficult to say what works well for everyone. I use a mouse 14+ h/day for long days at work and then what time I can have saving the universe. I've owned about every brand, both wired and wireless. My latest venture with the SteelSeries was based off a YT vid review that just happened to play. I'd been using a Razer Viper Mini for the past year and while it was a good mouse, it's just a bit too mini for me (average size hands). I've been pleased so far with this mouse. The weight is lighter than most, which I've increasingly grown to appreciate. I don't care much for wireless mice, so this wired one was my preference. The cable is ok - no kinks and with my setup, no drag/pull as I'm moving around. I already had a SteelSeries keyboard, so the software worked without issue picking up the mouse and adjusting settings. I've never had issue with SteelSeries software before, so that's been a non-issue as well. The mouse feels pretty good and has no plastic stuck on the sides like some of SteelSeries other mice. Those glued on pieces are nothing short of a mess over time as they goop out and get on your desk/hands/mouse. This mouse is all solid and is comfortable for long usage times. Clickers work well and the wheel was surprisingly better than I feared - not exactly smoot, not horribly bumpy. Overall, I like this mouse and for the money, feel like I got a good product for the cost. I generally go through mice every 1 to 3 years, depending on how they hold up. I'm hoping this holds up to the task.

Worst Mouse Ive ever had and Ive had Many mouses.
14 March 2023

Worst Mouse ive ever had. Doesnt illuminate, Bluetooth was the only way to use it and it stopped working. 2.4 ghz would connect and felt good but would stop working in middle of games or anything that you were doing on the cpu.Support wanted all kinds of files with many steps to perform and showed no interest in backing up their product. Very disappointed and Walmart wont take it back. I made the mistake of throwing the box away when i got it. Never thought a mouse would be so messed up. $35 of my hard working money down the drain. Ill stick with Logitech.
