Product pump is poorly designed requiring numerous priming if stopped for a few minutes. It has a very slow flow unless pumping hard and then the water shoots out too far. The 360 swivel caused additional frustration. I was not aware that Step 2’s return policy requires consumers to pay for return shipping, which could be up to $100 for this item. I have purchased many Step 2 products in the past, but will not be ordering from this company again.

I couldn't wait for the reviews to come in for this new Step2 product to order one for my 3.5 year old. This is really as cool as it looks! My daughter is average sized and can sit comfortably in the "pond" to cool off. The pump handle isn't difficult to operate, but does take some getting used to....maybe my kid just needs to strength train a bit after months of mostly staying indoors! We have only played with it once as it literally arrived this morning, but it is very sturdy. I also like that it has a hole for an umbrella if you have one from a different set (we have the blue baby pool and kiddie picnic table too). Once assembled , it's not really the type of thing you can easily stash in your 1 car garage, so I'm planning to keep it on my patio covered with a ... MoreI couldn't wait for the reviews to come in for this new Step2 product to order one for my 3.5 year old. The worst part about this was building it...there weren't pre-drilled holes, so pushing the screws hard enough to get them to twist into the plastic was a bit painful. That said, I put it together alone in about 45 minutes. I definitely recommend this for preschoolers. Younger toddlers could definitely play with it too but might not be able to operate the pump.

Great fun in hot weather. I’d seen this before but was hesitant as my 5 year and 6 year old are big for their ages, but then saw someone with it on Instagram and thought it might just be big enough. So glad I took a chance as it’s perfect! Boys have loved playing with this in the sunshine, they both just about manage to squeeze into the bottom bit for a laugh, but love playing with their toys in it too. Hours of fun and a really good price for what you get. Took me 45 mins to put together and was fairly straightforward.

I purchased this for my two year old son and he loves it. It didn’t take long to put together, but there are no pre-drillled holes so you need a good drill to put the screws in. The two things we do not like about it, which were mentioned by other people, is that there is no plug at the bottom to drain it, and the pump can be hard to use and needs primed often to work. The way we resolved the pump issue is we removed the top of the hand pump and the black tube and installed a rechargeable water pump with a long fish tank tube so the water can be recycled automatically. He enjoys this much more!
I'm not sure I could fully express how much I love this toy! It has so much potential for learning and exploring, not to mention the amazing water features that have my kiddos wanting to be outside for hours!Delivery: The toy was delivered in one very large brown, cardboard box. The outside of the box had the name of the toy on it, but no pictures. My girls can't read yet, so that worked perfectly for me!Assembly: Upon opening the package, I appreciated that there wasn't a lot of styrofoam inside. There were several bags to keep the pieces in, and they were all taped to the back of the base. I was worried that the tape would leave a residue on the base, but thankfully I was wrong. The instructions were in the box as well, and were very easy to read. The item ... MoreI'm not sure I could fully express how much I love this toy! The instructions were in the box as well, and were very easy to read. The item does require a screwdriver (more on that in a bit) and a bit of elbow grease as the holes for the screws are not present but rather have to be made by the force of the screw in the plastic (per the instructions). I wouldn't say that was a negative, but it was definitely unexpected and required a tiny bit more time and effort than I was anticipating. Overall, it went together fairly easily, and I (32f) was able to assemble on my own. The only negative to putting it together was the screwdriver issue (mentioned above). There is one spot at the top of the pump where the screwdriver needs to be narrow and long in order to get the screws in without damaging the surrounding plastic. Unfortunately, I was unaware of this and did not have another screwdriver on me, so the plastic was slightly scratched. Nothing too concerning, but something to be aware of.Play: my girls (2 and 4) love this toy, but I think I love it more! There are so many different learning tools to it (the use of a pump, water being pulled down by gravity, how the water filling the bucket causes it to dump and spin). Plus my girls are excited to go outside and play in the water! I definitely think this toy was a win and was so glad that we got to try it!One play negative- after the 2nd or 3rd time playing with the toy, the pump stopped working. After messing with it a bit, I realized the tubing that goes up the pump had come loose. It would be beneficial if that could have a better attachment somehow.(Hoping to update with pictures after the rain stops!)
I bought this as a birthday gift and opened it to set it up soon after the 2 week return period ended. The pump was not working properly and overall the setup was very flimsy. The waterfall portion keeps falling out even when screwed in. The green funnels easily fall out. The entire structure wobbles to the point where it feels like even 1 user could break it, let alone if more than 1 child at a time uses it.I called to ask for a refund but the return policy is awful, considering you are purchasing directly from the brand site and not a third party site. I will say they offered to send a new pump, but the entire process of getting approval, proving that the piece was defective was not worth the hassel. I'm just taking this as a big loss and learned my lesson to ... MoreI bought this as a birthday gift and opened it to set it up soon after the 2 week return period ended. I was a little nervous to order this product based on the reviews regarding missing pieces and “flimsy” structure. Hopefully the package line was corrected — I was very happy to find all parts present. When the structure is fully assembled (numerous screws to hold individual components in place) it is very sturdy. My 2 year old is completely obsessed with this immersive pond! I think she would sleep beside it if she could!
Fairly easy to assemble. Kids were very excited one I was able to get some water to siphon up. Then after about 10 good pumps, it died. Definitely not worth the money. Ours was too difficult for smaller children to pump and stopped working in 2 minutes. I would not recommend this. I've seen similar reviews.
Great quality item, robust, with fairly easy assembly instructions (although some elbow grease required screwdriver-wise). The children will love it. Extremely quick postage and excellent communication throughout too, as you'd expect from Smyths Toys. A reliable, trustworthy, and high-quality organisation to deal with. Top class.
I’m very happy with the Pump and Splash Discovery Pond. It was pretty easy to set up and seems really durable. My 2 year old loves it. Fun for multiple kids to play at once and lots of things to do to keep them busy. The pond area is a nice feature for kids to soak in as well. The downfall is there isn’t a drain but honestly that’s not that big of an issue. It’s pretty easy to tip over and drain it. The pump works great. Make sure you pour water into the top of the pump before starting it to help the pump get going. If you don’t add water to the top it doesn’t work which is why people are saying they have pump issues. It is difficult for small kids to operate the pump but it does work really well for older kids/adults. Very satisfied with this product!
