Nice waste can...fits perfect beside my bathroom stool. I had one but the lid was getting weak. We only have closing trash cans around our house because of our four legged children and our Grandchildren. And can't beat the price any where in town.

I got this back in 2021 because trash cans are way too expensive. But, ya get what you pay for. Less than 2 years later, the latch on the lid won't stay closed, entirely defeating the purpose of a lid.Ultimately, I'd still get it again because it's affordable, keeps the smell in, and can fit under a kitchen sink. Just be warned, you may need to replace sooner than something a bit nicer.

I bought 2 maybe 15 years ago for our apartment as they were perfect for under the kitchen sink. They didn't see much use as we had short term renters. The first latch broke 3 years ago, just before we moved, and I reached out to Sterilite at that time looking for a latch replacement. No response.Last week latch number 2 broke as well. And again reached out. I'm looking for the latch and I am willing to pay for the parts. I 'm still waiting for a response. Most of the people on here are having the same issue. It may just be a product flaw, and I get that. What I don't get is the lack of response from the company. I see here glowing praise about them standing behind their product. All I am waiting for is a yes or a no. Do you have the part or replacement lid? Yes or no?

I bought this garbage can because it fit perfectly under the sink and had a tight lid. And honestly it worked for what it was needed for...but I was hoping for something more durable. At the year mark, the clasp that holds the lid together started to fail and required a gentle hand to make sure it stayed in place (the same comment that has been mentioned from others). At the year and a half mark, the lip of the can cracked away from the bin itself.At this point, I'm looking into a replacement with similar dimensions. I was honestly surprised by the quality of the plastic for this bin. I know plastic degrades over time, but I've also bought similar bins from Canadian Tire that have lasted at least 4 years before they start to degrade.
I wanted something that didn’t rust on the inside of the lid (stainless steel). This product is great. You can wipe it off easily and the lid has a small built in lever that opens when you click it. The garbage bin is in two parts. I’m very satisfied.
Inlove this product and bought my original about 3 years ago. I was unable to find a single one in your stores, so I was forced to purchase this 4 pack. The item you currently carry is similar but with and all plastic closure which doesnt stay closed. I will eventually use them all or give them to friends and family. When you have something good, dont change it.
I've had this wastebasket under my kitchen sink for at least 10, maybe 15 years. So it gets used a lot. About 5 years ago one of the springs rusted through and Sterilite replaced it immediately, gratis! Well, one of the tabs that holds the touch-to-open mechanism to the lid finally broke. I just wrote to the marketing department and would expect a quick reply with the ability to purchase a new one, and use the thing for another 10-15 years.There may have been a manufacturing defect in some newer opening mechanisms, but Sterilite has first-rate customer service and stands by their products.
I purchased this can a few years ago to store dry dog food. It is the perfect size and I love the touch top feature. The price was good as well. The spring on the lid broke recently and I am having trouble locating a new can. I just reached out to customer service to see if I can get a replacement lid. Waiting to hear back. I think it was a good value for the money. I have seen other reviews saying the mechanism broke right away. That wasn’t my experience so I just wanted to write a review showing my experience with this great product!

I even wrote a negative review on one site, where I saw someone had called the manufacturer, Sterlite. I called them and they sent me a replacement latch. I had to carefully remove the debris from the old latch, but after a little bit of work I was able to do so. The new latch seems to work perfectly. That said, I love the can, as well as the price. It was unfortunate that it took Sterlite so long to figure out the latch mechanism, and too bad they didn't find all of the negative comments online and respond to them with an apology and provide info on the fix. I'd been looking for this size wastebasket with a lid for more than a year. FINALLY!!! That it's black is even better. Been using it a few weeks, and so far so good. Even went back and bought a second for our camper. It fits in a lower cabinet. In our case, we have a sliding frame under our island.
