Sterling Quest 9.6mm XEROS 60m / Blue
Sterling's lightweight workhorse rope is ideal for every climber and discipline. The Quest 9.6 is perfect for people looking for the ideal balance of weight and durability. Plus, its smooth sheath reduces gear drag while its mid-9 mm diameter keeps things light. The Quest is the perfect rope to pack for new adventures and trips back to old favorites. Sterling's proprietary XEROS technology creates a dry rope with next-level performancewithout a sticky, vulnerable-to-wear outer coating. Because of the process, both the core and sheath are protected with XEROS, which reduces performance issues related to sheath slippage. All for a minimal price increase over traditional non-dry rope. XEROS is also better for the environment and costs much less than other dry treatments.

I love Sterling ropes; I own two others, both of which I've climbed on for over a year without any issues. I bought this rope in August and have taken 3-4 falls on it. This last week, I had to chop 3 meters off because it was completely shot - visibly fuzzy on the outside and not resisting me at all when I did a bight test. I haven't exposed the rope to any chemicals or other conditions that would explain its rapid deterioration. It's possible that the rope rubbed on an edge at some point, but I climb in a fairly developed sandstone region and haven't done any "adventuring" with it, so I find this an unlikely explanation. Fortunately, I bought a 70m, so I still have a good length of rope left to work with; but the durability just isn't what I would expect for a 9.6 ... MoreI love Sterling ropes; I own two others, both of which I've climbed on for over a year without any issues. I do not recommend this rope. I’ve had it for two months and it’s already fraying from normal (once per week) and responsible use. I was also initially sent the wrong product in the mail.

Great rope as all of the ropes from Sterling are. It can get a little twisty quicker than some other ropes I've had, but a run through a Grigri corrects that pretty easily. Plus as someone from Maine, I love to support a Maine company.

Took the new rope out for her maiden voyage on a 4 pitch sport climb in Leavenworth and as expected, the bi-pattern feature was a delight for rappelling - being able to find where the middle was, and also pulling the right side of the rope for midway rappel transitions. The rope handled great otherwise. I was worried based on photography that the color of the rope would be too dark and pattern would not be super discernible, but in the bright outdoor light, it's a lot easier to see the difference.
Got this rope for sport and trad cragging. Maybe a little multipitching. Stoked on the feel right out of the package. Soft and supple in the hand. Feels a little on the stiff side for a cragging rope but still goes through the belay nicely. Overall very happy with it would recommend!
Used it several times this summer. Lead, top rope etc. Handles well and holding up fine so far.
Exactly what I needed for climbing indoors and outdoors! It’s durable, easy to manipulate, and great quality! Can’t wait for my next climbing trip!
Super stoked with my first Sterling rope! Bought ahead of a desert trip and couldn't have been a better choice. The rope has a great hand (right away), and despite it being dry-treated it doesn't feel gummy, tacky or thick. While I would have liked to have ponied up for dual weave, the center marking is super visible leaving little room for error. Having spent a number of days climbing wingate sandstone splitters there's no sign of wear, and durability seems on par or above that of the many ropes I've owned.Overall, versatile diameter, great feel and durability!
1 day if climbing (just one morning) and already need to cuT the first 2 meters.
