I am completely satisfied with the performance, quality, ease of use and the 4 year warranty with the purchase of the MotoMix fuel at the time of purchase. I did shop around and compare different models and brands but after owning a saw, weed eater and multi tool all made by STIHL and all providing excellent results for years I decided to get another STIHL. There are some great videos and reviews online to compare the different STIHL models as well as other brands. I watched many and the STIHL products are hard to beat. I know that there are a few more powerful units available in the STIHL line up but I think the BR 450 has plenty of power and was a perfect fit for my needs. I would highly recommend this model to anyone needing a new blower.

All three have many trees and leaves. Finally decided it was time to get a backpack blower with more power. I think the br450 hits the sweet spot in the commercial line. Plenty of power, holds enough gas, decent weight and has the adjustable throttle and hose. Blowing a few leaves didn’t seem that much different than the handheld. However, as I continued to use and the leaves piled up, this thing showed its power and rips leaves a good 15’. Big piles are no match for this thing. At idle it has enough power to get lighter stuff out of beds or off gravel without making it fly away. The adjustable cruise is nice too. I really like how the tube slides in which makes it pretty compact when storing and sliding the throttle to your arm length. Not as loud as I was anticipating either. I read a lot of reviews of slipping shoulder straps so I bought the Stihl chest strap that clips right onto the backpack straps. I personally didn’t have any issues with straps moving , but nice to know they are held in case they did. Not sure why Stihl does not simply include this inexpensive strap with the blower package. I really don’t have any complaints on anything with this blower. Gets the job done and cuts my blow time easily in half if not more. My only regret is not buying one of these sooner.

I bought the 450 2 weeks ago after using a gas hand held for 20 years on my 1 acre property with probably 200 trees. (4 huge oaks and other various trees). This unit doesn't seem to care whats in front of it. It moves masive amounts of wet leaves 2' deep in some spots, power blasts pine cones and acorns out of the grass and rocks a couple inches in diameter. Dang it changed my attitude towards yard work! no more raking! The only problem was it started to lose RPMs after 3 tanks of gas. Come to find out the spark arrester had gotten clogged with deposits and the exhaust wasn't able to get out properly. The Ace Hardware tech Told me I need to run premium gas with less than 10% ethanol and ashless 2 cycle oil to keep the spark arrestor from getting clogged. Maybe I should read an owners manual once in a while. He burned the deposits off the spark arrestor with a propane torch and now Its great again. So far it starts easily and incredibly powerful. As with most of the owners it kept wanting to slide off my shoulders so I crisscrossed the shoulder straps so that they actually lay over each other behind my shoulders and the problem almost disappeared. I wasn't sure I was making the right decision when I forked over the dough for the BR 450 but after about 2 minutes of use I knew it was money well spent!!!

I needed a good blower to deal with leaves on my property. I looked at the different Stihl blowers available and decided to get this one. It works great. Easy to use, blows very well and easy to control nozzle direction to move the leaves. And thanks to the salesman, for buying a 6-pack of 2 cycle oil, it doubled the warranty from 2 to 4 years. I have no doubt this will serve me well for many years in dealing with those leaves.
I've owned this model for a year and what follows is an honest review.I had to replace an old hand held leaf blower that burned up on me. That hand held blower was not a Stihl but it also wasn't a bargain bin machine. As a homeowner I like having professional grade machinery so after much analysis and comparison I decided on the BR 450.I liked that the BR 450 is a true 2 stroke. The power from the machine is everything I need and more. It does a great job of moving anything in the yard and it can scour the ground to remove stubborn leaves or debris. This machine is a great backpack blower for almost any task where you have to move a lot of material quickly. You won't spend all day trying to clear the yard of leaves or grass. You won't spend all day trying to clear the yard of leaves or grass. However it is so much fun to use that you will find reasons to continue using it when your primary task is completed. There are a couple of tips and comments I have regarding any power loss.First, it is imperative you READ THE MANUAL before you jump right in and use any Stihl product. There is information that is VERY important for the operator.Second, since this is a true 2 stroke motor, the spark arrestor will need to be checked if the blower won't come up to full power. This is also listed in the user manual as a troubleshooting tip. I would recommend checking the spark arrestor as the first thing if the power goes down on the machine. Once I cleaned it, the machine was screaming again and the power was restored. DO NOT touch the carb or the spark plug until the spark arrestor is cleaned. If you do pull the spark plug boot be VERY careful. The boot can separate from the coil wire if you pull too much on it. Getting it back together is not difficult but you do need to be patient and know that the metal clip that taps into the coil wire must be assembled before it is inserted into the spark plug boot.
I purchased this blower for year-round residential tasks. It is used for clearing debris and for moving light snow. (I have also used it to blow water off my truck after washing it to prevent water spots.) The adjustable power allows me to clear a stone driveway without blowing the Modified 2B away along with the leaves and snow. I do find I can reach the end of the power band easily, but I can usually complete my task effectively using less-than full throttleThis model was chosen because it is designed to run for extended periods of time; it has done so very well, for me. I think I get about ninety minutes out a tank of gas with varying throttle speeds.I would like it if the hose storage design was developed beyond just a piece hook and loop to hold the hose upright against the carry handle. The shoulder harness needs a chest strap to help keep the blower from moving, especially when working on and angle or un-even ground. Lastly the "choke" nozzle should attach to the hose either with a better twist-lock connector or a latch that provides a positive connection between the nozzle and the hose. However, I do like that as a part that will see wear, it is replaceable. This is a very good purchase for me and I expect it to perform well and last as long as the other Stihl products I have purchased.
The comparisons suggest it will out-work competitors. I don't own competitors, but I can say this leaf blower delivers the goods. It's not particularly light and pull-starting a high-performance 63cc two-stroke engine takes a hearty pull. It runs and idles well, effective at low throttle yet immensely powerful at full throttle where it can fold over heavy layers of wet leaves and blow acorns out of thick grass. Anything more powerful would blow the topsoil out of my lawn. Unless you you've purchased an 80cc machine within the past couple of years, you're going to be impressed with the power of this leaf blower. Stihl seems to do a particularly nice job with plastics. After a while the shoulder straps loosen up on their own and could use a cross-buckle. They're not ... MoreThe comparisons suggest it will out-work competitors. I got a lot of work out of my old handheld leaf blower, but it wore out. No spark, no compression, it's time to move on. I have a much larger yard now, so I went to Viking Lumber, looked at Stihl and thought they were a little pricey. I saw some cheaper options, but half the reviews were completely frustrated owners venting (poor quality, no part availability, no access to service). I don't need headaches. When I finally get time to work around the yard I want my equipment to run, and do the job. If you want to buy something that just works, buy this. You'll be over the price difference the first time you use it - and every time thereafter. I'm tired of trying to save a buck here and there and winding up with garbage. Stihl still makes quality. Your only question should be "Which Stihl model should I choose?".My BR450 starts easy, and has plenty of power to move a wet, heavy leaves. You will need to set the handle length to get the backpack straps right- that may take a little trial and error, but once you dial it in, everything is comfortable. I burned four full tanks of fuel clearing my yard, but the leaves were wet, and thick. The BR450 can roll heavy piles of leaves and acorns from a significant distance and push them far enough into the woods to they don't blow back into the yard. It was the right model for me. I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase.BTW I'm a non-compensated homeowner, this review is my opinion, not my assignment.
I’ve had my BR 450 for a couple of weeks now and have used it for several hours moving this fall’s deluge of leaves at my and my father-in-law’s home. Both locations are well blessed with large leafy trees that usually produce a bumper crop once they turn loose. This year was no different. However, after tackling all those leaves for a number of years with a handheld Stihl SH 85 (which I’ve been nothing but pleased with), I decided to move up to something larger. After a lot of research and review reading, I ended up selecting the 450. To say that I’m tickled would be an under statement! The power of this blower is very impressive! It’s not too heavy (around 25 lbs gassed up), fits comfortably on the back (nicely padded backrest and shoulder harness) and can deliver the kind of punch that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Oh, and don’t think for a moment that I’m putting my SH 85 out to pasture. It’s perfect for less monumental jobs and still has a lot of life left in it.With respect to the reviews chastising Stihl for not including a chest strap to help the shoulder harness stay in place, it’s not really needed. I first thought it was as well, but after using the unit for several hours now, have decided otherwise. The key to a proper fit is to not over tighten the shoulder harness. There’s a sweet spot (not too tight) that will allow the blower to comfortably ride right where it’s supposed to.
We have about 2 acres with 5 massive trees (Oaks and walnuts) and about a dozen smaller trees that typically took 4ish hours for 2 people to rake using a tarp to move leaves to a burn pile. With a plug in leaf blower it took about 2 hours with a second person moving leaves with the tarp. With the 450 it took me 45 minutes to do the entire yard by myself no tarp necessary. The power at idle wasn't much different from the old plug in model.
