Long time user of the Fixcut Type Trimmer Heads for eight years now. I've found that the Fixcut 31-2 Heads seem to last significantly shorter in terms of lifespan than the prior Fixcut 30-2 Heads. From experience the 30-2 Heads would usually last one year before the line abrades through the casting on two of the four trimmer line channels, and in the last two purchases I did, the 31-2 Heads lasted one month each. I'm not sure if this is due to a change in Metallurgy. I've been using it on the same piece of equipment (FS-130) and on the same single property, the operating environment hasn't changed.

I bought this a couple years ago and have been running .155 line through it and I'll just say. It can cut your mom's bush better then her husband's hedge trimmer. 13/10 would highly recommend

SURPRISED: This is my third season using this head. I had all but given up on using string trimmers until I found this head. Most people probably won't agree on my efficiency comment. But, it beats untangling auto feed spools any day.MAINTAIN: I have found that the head must be taken apart and cleaned on a regular basis. I soap and water to clean & silicone spray sparingly to lube the pins. This is a must if it is being used around sandy soils or in dry conditions.LINE FAILS: As to the pull out problem I find that the line striking rocks or rough cement to be the biggest cause. I find that having a pocket full of inserts and a pair of pliers is much simpler than fooling with auto feeds.
He head design makes the cutting string last much longer than my old head. The outlet for the string is curved which makes it last much longer that when making a sharp bend. I'm easily getting 3 to 4 times the life of the cutting material. Highly recommend
With this product, you are able to use .130 spiral line for tough weeds. This fixed-line head is TOUGH and can handle TOUGH jobs on farm land weeds. Precut 15 lines can be placed into the head within seconds. PURCHASE ONLY STIHL HEAD TO DO THE JOB CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME EVERY TIME!!!
We bought this to go with the new trimmer. Was a perfect attachment as the first time we needed to bump for more line it didn't work. So switched the line out for this. The line lasts longer using this and you don't have to fight with the spools and tearing the trimmer head a part to feed line. The only difficulty is it is not a quick reload of line. We had a different style for years that you only cut lengths of line and they were just pushed through the holes and you were good to go. These one requires you to weave a line in and out of holes and you are guessing at how much line to cut.
I bought this with my FS-56-RC-E trimmer because it was the only head that was big enough to use my .155 spiral line in. I store my line in water until I use it. The ONLY time I have to replace my line is when I use my trimmer as an edger by cement, or when I get too close to the chain link fence.I use 2 lines in the head so that I have 4 pieces cutting. I love this head.I've used it for 2 seasons with absolutely NO problems.
Bought this head today and kudos for Aloha Power Equipment in Hawaii for showing me this head. I went in to buy a new bump feed head for my Stihl which was not feeding well anymore. Associate showed me how it worked and I was first dubious since I had bought some gator head before and the plastic just wore to the point the string kept flying off. Did a good afternoon with this. Had a bunch precut in my pocket but didnt need to change it except a couple of times and that was so fast. Veryhappy
I was pleased with this product for the first year or two but of late have had considerable difficulty with the line breaking at the head. I switched to a larger Stihl line but that will not stay in the unit even though I pull it very tight after inserting into the eyelet. After a minute or two it disengages and is lost. I reversed the saw-tooth device that is supposed to hold the line so it had sharp saw tooth edges and should have held the line. Perhaps heating the line to soften it may help the teeth to grab the line. As of now I am not happy with the performance.Crossville, TN
