I purchased the 131 after a professional recommend the 141 model. I needed an alternative to a chain saw. I have loblolly pine invaders in my 5 yr. old Longleaf pine stand that needed removal. A prescribed burn helped some but did not solve the problem. So i assaulted these invaders with the 131 with the stihl circular saw tooth blade.Well this 131 is a beast! I have cut up to nearly āoil can sizeā diameter trees.Highly recommend this tool. Also the blade is easy to sharpen in the field with a 7/32 fileā¦Pen Baldwin

I have owned the FS-131 string trimmer for several years. I only drag it out when the grass is really thick in the springtime and I use lighter trimmers the rest of the season. Every time I fire it up the easy starting after months of setting and power impresses me. I just purchased the curved edger because my other trimmers don't have the grunt to drive the ones they came with. First time out the Stihl did it's job like a Ferrari at a race track. Plenty of power and the edger worked 100% as expected.

I called true value hardware looking for a 131 weed trimmer. After verify they had them in stock. I drove over an hour to pick one up. I get there. They had me fill out the warranty information first then when I go to the register it was actually the 131R which is not the one that I want it. After going back-and-forth they established they did have the 130 one in stock and put it together for me. I get it home and it does not work correctly. He doesnāt run correctly nor does the line feed correctly. I take it back to the store and the manager attempted to repair it. I explain to him I didnāt want a brand new weed trimmer repaired. I wanted a new one. After a few minutes of conversation, he agreed to provide a new one. He told me that they have been having issues with this particular unit. I return to the store a second time to return it for a refund out of it I could not get a refund. After proven to the cashier that it had only been seven days, they gave me a refund. Not the best experience.

Bought this to clear my 1 acre property that has about 1/2 acre of weeds on a rocky hillside. This thing was amazing. I originally was planning to get a Fs91 because I thought I didnāt need such a big machine but they weigh almost the same and I am so happy I bought this one. It went through 6 ft tall grass, star thistle and everything in between like it was nothing. I get about 30 minutes before I have to refuel, which is the only downside, but I canāt imagine a 50 oz tank so I guess I will just have to get use to it. I kept thinking I should get the FS251 when I was in the store but I really never bogged down this one and it is 3 lbs lighter.
As someone who has been working in landscape for 18 years I'm always excited to try new equipment. When I got my hands on this I was hoping it was going to make my job easier, nope. Whilst the machine and mechanics are good, the head design is terrible!!!1. Using 2 pieces of string just really adds an additional step that doesn't need to be there.2. Having to disassemble the head to restring, after other companies have made it to where you don't is another additional step that doesn't need to be there.3. After using it for about 1.5 hours and having to disassemble the head to fix the broken string over 15x it's just ridiculous!I weed whip acres and having to stop, disassemble, fix string, reassemble and start every 3-5 minutes isn't labor or cost effective.I'm ...Ā MoreAs someone who has been working in landscape for 18 years I'm always excited to try new equipment. Bought this because when I use a trimmer, I'm using it for awhile. I had no issues with the start up, the ease of use, and the comfort while carrying the trimmer. The only thing I had issues with and why it gets a 4 star is the the cutting head, and the string that came with it. I'm going to most likely buy a different head to place on there, and different string than what I walked out with. I spent quite some time trying to work the string that was already loaded and finally gave up destringed it and restrung it with string that I had bought before for an older trimmer.
This is the best performing brushcutter in its class. No doubt. It has plenty of power. The ONLY issue I have is with the string trimmer heads and trimmer line in general. It binds the line inside the head and breaks very often, and with every brand I've tried. The trimmer head needs a revamp. If it weren't for that I'd rate it at five. It excels with blade attachments. It eats one to four inch trees like a hungry beaver.
I purchased my Stihl MS250 chainsaw a month ago andIām very pleased with it. It runs great and the power toweight ratio is outstanding! Keep in mind, this is not a pro saw and does not have a compression release option. As a result, some may find it a bit difficult to pull the pull cord through the compression stroke to start this saw. If you are unable to start this saw, my humble opinion would be to stay away from chainsaws. They aināt for the lighthearted.
I've owned mine for 2 years, and this upcoming spring will be its 3rd year as my go to trimmer for my landscaping business. It will blow through just about any non woody material with ease. It destroys blackberry vines with the appropriate blade installed. I recommend using stihl .105 carbon line for trimming grass and weeds. What I love the most is that everytime I go to start it I pull once and it's ready to rip. Here is a money saving hack: don't buy the kombi system because you can use those attachments on any straight shaft sthil trimmer. Just buy a regular trimmer and loosen the screw at the head of the shaft and it pulls right off. Install whatever attachment you need tighten it down and off you go. I own the fs 131, fs 94r, fs 90, and fs 56. They all are ...Ā MoreI've owned mine for 2 years, and this upcoming spring will be its 3rd year as my go to trimmer for my landscaping business. If you're ever tired of playing around, this is the trimmer to buy. Like the FS130 it has power to spare, the fat lady just hummed hard.So on the old school trimmers (fs90 - fs130) I could click-hold the throttle with the "start" button and it would act like a cruise control, now I basically have to hold the throttle which... Sure it's a nice safety feature but as someone who has trimmed several thousand yards it's just annoying. I much prefer not having to hold the throttle all the time, the auto-off switch is nice in that it springs back to ON (so your ignition switch is never OFF when trying to start it) but it's also easy to bump so accidental shut offs do happen.Another feature I wasn't particular about are the paper filters, the old foam ones I would throw ...Ā MoreIf you're ever tired of playing around, this is the trimmer to buy. It sometimes does stall a bit but overall still runs strong, I sure hope it lasts 5-8 years before I have to consider another, at $450 (with tax) it is the most expensive brush cutter I've ever bought. It cost more than I wanted to spend but I bought it because of the power and the name, plain and simple.Thank you for building a quality tool.
