Strider 12" Sport Balance Bike - Blue
If your toddler can walk, a Strider balance bike will get your toddler cruising over dirt, grass, and pavement with ease. Designed to be steady, stable, and safe, the Strider is perfect for children from 18 months to 5 years old. The Strider 12 Sport model offers every feature a child (or parent) could want. It is the perfect balance of performance, options, and value, featuring more than 8 years of design evolution and manufacturing improvements. Unique 12.7mm steel handlebar is 43% smaller to allow better control with tiny hands. Custom logo mini-grips are soft urethane with protective ends. Machined-aluminum quick release allows No Tools height adjustment from 46-56cm (18-22 ). Strider-exclusive, ultralight one-piece wheels sport a raised-letter, five-spoke design with 10 bearing support gussets for maximum strength at the lightest weight possible. Top-quality sealed cartridge bearings roll smooth and never need adjustment. EVA polymer (industrial foam) tires are super light and durable yet offer a smooth ride. Best of all, they never need air and will never go flat. The durable, all-weather mini-saddle is designed specifically for beginning riders and their tiny hips. Smaller, narrower, and lighter than a typical saddle, this seat allows for proper riding position and posture. The Sport model also includes an additional extended seatpost for growing children, allowing seat-height adjustments up to 48 cm (19 in). Machined aluminum quick release allows No Tools saddle height adjustment from 28-41cm (11-16 ) for the perfect fit for your child. Unique, frame-integrated footrests are properly positioned directly below the saddle for natural bike balance. This position also fosters the advanced ability to stand while gliding as well as pumping and jumping the bike.

We are HUGE strider bike fans and could talk endlessly about them. We bought them for our twins and put them on them at 18 months old. They were riding a pedal bike by the time they were three. They LOVED their strider bikes and could go SO DANG FAST, my husband and I had to buy bikes to keep up with them! They loved to take their Striders to the pump track at the bike park. The bikes hold up so well. Our younger son used one of them and also was riding a pedal bike at 3. We put those bikes through the ringer… left in the rain and hot sun, covered in red clay, washed repeatedly, ridden constantly for years and held up beautifully!!

We love our strider bikes! They are so portable and easy to throw in the truck for a good time. They are very durable, ours have been through snow, mud, jumps, and racing. The comfort, adjustability, and safety of these bikes make it perfect for the littles. I swear by strider balance bikes. Both my kids started with them and can now ride bikes with out training wheels and dirt bikes. Get for teaching them balance.

This is the third bike we have purchased from this company. I absolutely love them for our kids. They were in our opinion easy to assemble. I recommend going with the sport as it has a broader age range compared to the classic. Our sons have a different option but all of these bikes have held up well and taught our kids confidence when riding their bikes. Definitely worth the money!

If they spent 10 years designing this for functionality, as their ad says, then they should change occupations. My two year old can’t ride this for more than five seconds without saying ‘Ow’ as the bottom of the seat post jams into his achilles tendon. I am in fact using the shorter seat post, and he is within the proper riding height parameter. Also, the handlebars have a slight curve to them, which is ergonomic and would be just fine, other than they rotate 360 degrees, so 50% of the time, your kid is gonna get it wrong and the bike will be harder to steer without them falling over. Also, the curve is gentle enough to make a difference but also gentle enough to make it hard to tell by looking at it if it’s proper or not.Other bikes have solved both these design ... Also, the curve is gentle enough to make a difference but also gentle enough to make it hard to tell by looking at it if it’s proper or not.Other bikes have solved both these design issues and cost half the price. There are other brand balance bikes that the seat post does not protrude through the bottom of the frame and instead have a smooth ball that won’t injure your kid’s ankle, and some of those same models also have steering stops that won’t let the handlebars flip the wrong way… for less than $60. These other brand’s models are also easier to step through the bike frame as they get on the bike.If you want a balance bike that looks really super cool and stylish (and I’ll admit this one does,) that costs more than most other balance bikes (cause hey, if it costs more, it must be the best,) that your kids can jack up their ankles on while falling over, then this is the one for you.
Great balance bike. Scheels is terrific to work with and the bike arrived quickly after ordering. The size is perfect for our 2 year old grandson, with plenty of room for him to grow into it, with the seat and handle bars that are adjustable. Non-pneumatic tires were also a plus. Super sturdy to last through several children.
My youngest sons birthday is just around the corner, my husband and I knew he really wanted a bike of his own. Our oldest son has his own balance bike so our youngest has seen what it does, how to use it, and shows he’s eager to learn if he had one. SURPRISE! he got his very own strider bike. Needless to say he is incredibly happy. He went right on his new bike and strides away lol. Super fast he zooms left and right. Confident little guy. Now he can ride along with his older brother. I seriously recommend this product because it makes it a super easy transition to a pedal bike. My oldest son used a balance bike and learned how to pedal very early. We bought strider balance bikes for all 4 of our boys. Every 2nd birthday our boys got to choose their color. Our youngest is now 3 and he has the blue sport edition. He has rode it 2-3 times daily and it's his favorite thing ever! During the pandemic our family has rode bikes and took walks 2x as much as we did daily! The Strider sport is simply amazing quality and so easy for kids to use. Last week unfortunately someone stole our blue one and left our youngest son super sad. We will have to for sure get another bike ASAP as it's his favorite. We love strider bikes so much we tell all our friends about them! Even the preschool that our boys have all went to, have multiple Strider bikes! If you're looking for something durable, well made and loved by kids, Strider ... I know, my bad. I should have went in person to our local bike store to get this bike. However, due to work schedule and sick kiddo - couldn’t make the 30 mile trek to get it.I ordered it as it’s supposed to be from Santa. Well, guess it’s from FedEx and Walmart because it showed up on our front step with a big ole red bike pictured on top.So, surprise ruined as my toddler loves to see who is at the door.I double checked before I ordered to - to confirm if it ships in original box - no notes which is why I took the gamble.Don’t take the gamble. Ship somewhere else just in case this happens to you.Shipping was fast. 5/5Bike is cool. 4/5Toddler loves it. 5/5Surprise ruined. 1/5
We bought this bike for our daughter at REI because the website says free assembly is included. We came to pick this bike up today with our daughter (she was so excited) only to learn that it is still in a box and that REI does not assemble this balance bike as it’s considered a toy not a bike. I get that the assembly is probably straight forward, but this misinformation cost us a long trip with a 2 year old and a lot of disappointment.
Our son is 2 years old and in the 70th percentile for height, yet even with the seat on the lowest setting, his feet only just reach the ground. He struggles to sit fully down on the seat while peddling with his feet. He has to move his body forward off the seat to peddle more easily. Those aren't even our biggest complaints. Our biggest complaint is the bolts that stick out on the sides of the bike (see photo). Talk about dangerous and painful!!! It's gotten to the point where my very fearless son (who can literally fall several feet, scrape his head and knees open and still say, "Ow! Okay, I go play again...") doesn't trust this balance bike and hates staying on it longer than a few seconds. I am sure it's because he is done getting those huge bolts jammed into ... The designer on this is either childless and/or careless, and I struggle to understand all these rave reviews.
