So convenient! The insulated walls make it so much easier to hold steady temps, whether cooking at 250, 350, or 400 degrees. The 2 charcoal levels give you so much flexibility to crank up the temps for a good hi-heat sear (600+ degrees) or put the charcoal on the lower level and use the deflector plate to get good indirect cooking. It is more expensive than buying a kettle, but you get so much more versatility without having to buy 2 different grills. It's worth it to me!

Using it in the winter has been a lot of fun. It holds temperature very well and the dual insulated air fill walls insulate very well in -10C*. *Real winter hasn't shown up yet*I wont ever give up the kettles that I had around before I purchased my Kamado but had I known how much I would like this grill, I would have went right to it first and foremost haha.

Dream Charcoal BBQ / Smoker
8 October 2024

I've cooked on just about every type of wood/charcoal bbq and this is by far the best. I explored all options extensively before settling on the Weber Summit Charcoal due to its size and quality of materials. It's heat retention, airflow management and ash removal is as good as, if not better, than any other Kamado, but you still get the same ease of use as a traditional kettle. I think the porcelain-enamel steel is highly preferable to a heavy/prone-to-cracking ceramic cooker. As with anything, eventually you can find some minor potential tweaks for improvement, but this really is a leading product and incredibly versatile whether it's for traditional direct sear cooking or low and slow.

Excellent product. Minor quibbles.

This is Weber’s premier charcoal product and it is indeed excellent at what it does. The fit and finish are great, the fuel efficiency beats my already high expectations and while I will still use my regular kettle, Smokey Joe and Searwood for other jobs, this is my favorite and go-to grill. Two gripes though: the metal box on the front with the logo on it is super flimsy and cheap feeling, it’s the only part that feels this way and could have been better. I think the hooked handle on the 70th anniversary kettles was significantly higher quality to this box with stamped out hooks on the sides. And the cooker should come with a 2nd charcoal grate so you can always leave the lower in place and just insert your 2nd one if you want to cook hot and fast. Grade For Assembly B, Grade For Operation is A+

The grill itself is superb and really happy with it.However, that said, there were some assembly problems: Two of the legs of this Weber Summit Kamado did not line up properly with their heavy duty plastic mounting bushings. I had to manually ream out one mounting hole in two of the three leg bushings in order to install the mounting bolt. A small round file did the trick, as well as a bit of trial and error. Only four stars because of these issues. One would expect parts to fit perfectly on such an expensive kettle grill. Everything else about the assembly and operation of the grill was superb, though. Weber uses an app called BILT that walks you through the assembly process step-by-step, and even provides 3-D views along the way. This unit replaces our $1800 Traeger for one simple reason: We can easily control the amount of smoke flavor in our food. This grill does not disappoint! I gave up a bit of the set-it-and-forget-it features inherent in the Traeger, but not by much. Setting and maintaining the cook temperature on this Kamado is fairly easy and doesn't need much adjusting along the way. Nevertheless, it's important to monitor the cook temp periodically. The food coming off this grill is perfect! And smoked perfectly to our tastes! We've gone from Weber propane, to Weber kettle, to Traeger pellet, and now finally to the Weber Summit Kamado. This grill will probably be our last unless we win the lottery and can hire our own chef!

I was a bit unsure in the shop, the price was high only Cameron gave me a great deal and knew I would be delighted once I tried it out. Now having used it, I’m absolutely convinced it was great advice. My Webber Summit smoker/charcoal barbecue cooked up really well and was so easy to make a lot of lovely smoke. Looks like we’re eating triple smoked sausages for like three weeks from just that one cookup. I was able to easily and accurately dampen it right down and by resting a couple boxes pellets on top the briquette trays, make a heap of long lasting smoke pretty quickly at about 200F. Looks like we’re eating triple smoked sausages for like three weeks from just that one cookup. I was able to easily and accurately dampen it right down and by resting a couple boxes pellets on top the briquette trays, make a heap of long lasting smoke pretty quickly at about 200F. At least a triple smoke poured from some lazy pellets in Smoke pellet boxes on top of the heat bead baskets. Accurate heat and tons of smoke, better than I’ve ever had doing it any other way including my offset smoker (which I now need another home for). That’s a high end offset smoker only was also a lot of hard work and mucking around as well as burnt a heap of fuel and smoking wood. All I did with this Summit Webber (make sure you get the large diameter one with the twin skin insulation) just chuck the stuff in and basically stay there and watch it because I didn’t trust it because it was the first time I cooked with it. I’d say it’s impossible to mess this up. I did damp it down a fair bit and that’s the only input that I had to have apart from following the instructions exactly. Super impressed and I will definitely get my money from this. I put the indirect heat plate in (it fitted directly above the smoke boxes which was sitting directly on the trays with the heat beads in them which were on the bottom level) which was not mentioned in the instructions. I think the plate came out after the instructions were written because it wasn’t mentioned at all but the plate in for indirect heat was perfect. I have about hundteds worth of wood chips and chunks and which I haven’t been willing to use in my offset smoker because it would’ve burned through about 50+ bucks worth of chips and a full bag of Briquetts every cook (so who could afford to cook that and take the risk in case it didn’t work too). Versus this would be about 5-10 bucks worth of chips and probably 2 to 3 dollars worth of Briquettes. My old Webber needed pretty well a full bag of heat beads for the Cook, this one needed only 22 beads (yes I counted them). It’s about probably not even a fifth of a bag. It’s still going strong after around about five hours so I’ve just thrown another full Brisket roast in there and will roast it overnight at 100°C for a long slow cook to make it tender, I’ll need that because it’s a really low quality cut only that will work out really well,I did throw another box of wood Mesquite pellets in on top of the beads and in future I will only put in one box at a time not 2 like I did to start with, I have three boxes and I used to put all three in and not get much smoke When I was trying to do it with my gas BBQ, two tiny boxes (stainless steel about 250 x 100 x 35 with a few 5mm holes in them) mesquite made it a bit strong for me this time in fact I’d say it’s almost triple smoked, will put in one box at a time from now on and finally on going to experiment with the different kinds of wood. for example I have some maple, cherry, apple, crab apple and a whole bunch of other woods that I’ll get into. I bought a fair few different kinds and (Cedar and Birch) only they were too expensive to use with my other offset smoker before which seem to go through a lot for not much value, I found I had to use chunks in my old offset cooker and now I’m pretty sure I could use anything I want in this one. I already know it works well with pellets which I think are the cheapest type and also really available and convenient.Needless to say I am super impressed with this BBQ and yes it was high-priced only very worth it. It’s actually made cooking in the Webber super economical to do the smoking and slow cooking much more economical much much more I can quite easily justify the additional cost because of the ease only the savings of the wood and fuel will actually add up a lot over the years too.Big thank you to Cameron Packer at Horizon Sports and Leisure at Mount Barker in South Australia for hooking me up with exactly right BBQ plus plenty of good advice. There’s a lot of pleasurable barbecuing coming up,

The customer should not have to keep paying to replace a part this is part of a bad design. For what it's worth, the locking wheel caster design itself is awesome. I didn't need the whole wheel though...just the caster.Average rating just based on bad design. Otherwise a 5 rating for the rest of the grill.

Summit Kamado Review

I have used my new Weber Kamado grill several times now. I have found the grill maintains a cosistent temperature with minimal effort and if I overshoot on the temperature I have found it very easy to correct. Smoking with the E6 has been great so far. I have smoked a Boston Butt as well as a Brisket and have had great results. The grill uses a minimal amount of charcoal and wood while smoking or grilling which is a plus. I would highly recommend the Weber Kamado to anyone looking for a smoker and grill. I replaced a propane cabinet smoker with the Weber Kamado and I am completely happy with this Grill. I purchased this grill from my local Ace Hardware and received free assembly and delivery which was an added bonus.

Summit Kamado E6 Well Worth the money. Top notch craftsmanship, assembled in the USA, lots of accessories, retains heat and excellent grilling and smoking. I wish I would have bought this earlier. It was something I didn't know I needed until I got it. Now I can not live without it. Cooking daily on this unit to try it out and thought there would be a learning curve. Watched online youtube videos and everything has worked as indicated in videos and meals have turned out great on first try. Only learning curve is watching temp and initial setting. It does take a small learning curve to figure out lump vs briquets and the quantity and vent setting. Placement of fuel also helps in smoking, grilling depending on direct or indirect cooking and smoking. I have tried snake method, minion method, weber baskets, banking coals and they all work great. Temp control is great once you dial in the temp with the vent control it is really almost set it and forget it. Just your usual smoking grilling after that point same as a gas grill, wood offset (this unit is a close second in flavor) / pellet smoker, etc. fuel doesn't need to be topped off and it works well with lump charcoal, briquettes, and flavored smoke with the wood chunks / chips of your choice. I have been using lump charcoal for hot and fast, rehearse sear steaks, chicken, etc. and briquets with lump wood chunks 2 -5 spaced out over burn timed between 2-6 hours until smoke doesn't really affect meat that much and finish off on briquettes. Lump charcoal can be used and will add a touch more flavor but runs hotter and cost more.
