No editing on either photo. TIPS FOR USE: Just like with any hair treatment you need to pay attention to how your hair is responding and TAKE CARE OF IT. This will work best on hair that only needs a little help- trying to go black to blonde probably won’t yield great results . I am fortunate enough that my hair is very healthy on its own, so I can get away with using sun-in a few days in a row with a high heat blow dry. I just make sure to let my conditioner soak longer. If your hair starts to feel dry or brittle, give it a break!

I used this throughout high school and didn’t realize until too late how much it damaged my hair. It dried my hair out, fried it and ruined my natural color. My hair dresser thought I’d been on the swim team because she said the build up on my hair and scalp seemed like chlorine. I think you’re better off using something natural like lemon juice or getting highlights professionally. Save yourself the damage!

Easy to use
23 May 2022

I’m not a fan of the spray bottle because it’s not comfortable in my hand while using it but it works so can’t complain. I use my paddle brush to comb through and blow dry. started all over even up to my roots and only did later treatments lower in my hair avoiding my roots since they were at the lightness I wanted initially. I got about 5 or 6 full uses out of one bottle. Only used my blow dryer. The Sun In didn’t make my hair feel damaged at all. Maybe a little dry but a hair mask really helped! My hair actually feels healthier now. The two top pictures are before two bottom are after 5/6 uses. It will make dark hair more orange auburn color and that’s what I wanted to this definitely works to lighten hair.

Fresh scent - lightens well without damage
20 April 2022

I have used Sun In Hair Lightener for many years to maintain the blonde hue in my hair. This 4.7 fl oz bottle has a fresh scent that is not overbearing. It actually smells really nice - like summer! I have never noticed an issue with this causing damage to my hair but I do use a heat protector with this. My typical routine is to shower and wash my hair with my choice of shampoo and conditioner then I spray my hair with this, working it through to the ends with my fingers. I purposely skip several stands while spraying to ensure a more natural effect. If I am not going outside in the sun while my hair is wet, I will add a heat protector to my hair then I will blow dry my hair. I notice the color difference instantly when blow drying my hair. It is more of a subtle change if I allow the sun to "work its magic". If I use a straightener after blow drying my hair, I will see a more intense lightening in the color. Having used this for years, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lighter color in their hair or for someone looking to maintain their blonde shade. I do not color my hair outside of using this lightener so I am not sure if this would maintain color on the roots for someone who has colored their hair.

Great product
14 August 2023

I have used this for years now. I cut my own hair and instead of using water to spray it down for cutting I use this. I usually get my hair soaked well with this 2 - 3 times in an hour. Then I wash with a good hydrating shampoo, then a conditioner for blonde hair. It stripps out build up from styling products and keeps my hair lightened so my grey doesn't show so much. I definitely would recommend if used correctly.

I love it!
8 May 2023

I have naturally red hair that has gotten a darker auburn as I have gotten older. I put this in my hands and streak it through my hair, kind of like balayage. I do this after I shower and my hair is clean. I use Prell shampoo and no conditioner, then I just blow dry my hair and have lovely strawberry blonde highlights. I do this maybe once or twice a month. No damage to the hair. No bad smells like permanent coloring. I think it’s a real winner.

PERMANENT
31 May 2022

It’s great, definitely makes you blonde. However it did dry my hair out a little. Also this is PERMANENT. It does not fade. Do not let anyone lie to you the last time I put Sun in in my hair was around a year and a half ago. Now I want to go back to my natural brownish blonde and not the super blonde I got from this. I’m having to grow my hair out because nothing makes it come out. My roots are something…. If you only want to be blonde for a short period of time this is not you’re product. Also the dryness definitely isn’t permanent I still have a good bit of the sun in blonde left and it used to be dry but it eventually after lots of conditioner is back to normal so the dryness won’t last forever but the blonde definitely will.

Very happy with results!
7 September 2023

I had not used this in over 30 year’s! I was highly impressed with the results. It gave me true ash blonde results and lightened even further upon multiple uses. Just emptied a bottle and going to purchase another. The bottle DOES state, “not recommended for color/chemically treated hair,” I have both %26 actually felt I got great results, faster, because I already have professional colored hair. As recommended, try a small part of your hair that can be hidden before you spray your entire color treated hair. I’m attaching a photo of my roots because that is where I focus the product on. It’s easy to see results there too.
