Sunbeam BT7200 Multi-function Oven + Air Fryer

First off, I should say that the sales rep at Appliances Online who dealt with me, Dylan Barbosa, was fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about him. Now, on to the oven. I have owned a benchtop oven before, so I was already aware of their two main downsides. They take up a lot of bench space and they can get very hot. I didn't have a price range in mind when I was looking at the various different ovens this time around, still and surprisingly, I landed on the Sunbeam, which was roughly half the price of the others. I didn't have a price range in mind when I was looking at the various different ovens this time around, still and surprisingly, I landed on the Sunbeam, which was roughly half the price of the others. I really liked my previous benchtop oven and the Sunbeam is a clear step up from that one and I would buy the Sunbeam, again, in a second. You simply could not tell that the dishes, ranging from simple to complex, that I have cooked in it have not been cooked in a standard full-size oven. The unit is extremely easy to use and versatile. It would be nice if the timer could be set for longer than an hour, but that was the case with my last benchtop oven and it helped ensure I never over cooked anything. To my mind, Sunbeam has really only made one big mistake in designing this oven. It contains rail guides for only two positions rather than three. The result is that the top guides do not bring the oven tray close enough to the upper elements to really grill anything in the oven without a lot of lateral thought. I don't do a lot of grilling, so it doesn't worry me nearly as much as it would somebody who bought the unit primarily for grilling. Providing only two tray positions was a really bad error by the Sunbeam Product Design Team to my mind. Had they included three guides, even if they charged a few extra bucks, I have know doubt they would have the best selling benchtop oven under $500 to $600 on the market. Still, I am giving the unit an overall score of 4/5, in part, based on knowledge I have acquired about the other units on the market and some of their drawbacks, as well as all of the positives about the Sunbeam unit.

We received this multi-function oven and air fryer 6 weeks ago and have been using it almost daily. For a small family of 3 people this oven & air fryer meets most our cooking needs. We ended up using the air fryer function most often as it cooks the food quickly, in a healthy way, and allows the food to be cooked evenly without require turning thanks to the mesh tray. Our kitchen is small therefore having such a compact multi-function appliance rather than the conventional bigger size oven made significant difference to our space. Absolutely amazed by how easy it is to use and clean this oven. The air-fryer tray only needs gentle clean and turns out looking as new. The collecting tray would need to be lined with al-foil though to make cleaning time easier. Attached is photo of a Vietnamese dish I made this morning with the grilled pork. This only required 20 minutes of cooking using air-fryer mode at 180 degree. The meat was perfectly cooked, still moist and has crispiness on the outside.

That's what this oven provides. No fancy pre-programmed settings (reheat, stew, chicken etc) or touch control panel. That's the main reason I bought it. The oven has two bar elements top and bottom (four in total), and a circular airfryer element - the biggest - at the very top of the oven, which is also where the fan is. More on that in a moment. It looks very snazzy with its chrome knobs, but they are not practical. If your hands are damp. you can't turn them. The one attempt at "programming" is the element selection knob (the leftmost one) which is labelled Pizza, Grill, Bake, Convection and Airfry. This is unhelpful to say the least. I've worked it out as follows: Pizza - top and bottom bars Grill - top bars only Bake - top and bottom bars (same as Pizza) Convection - top and bottom bars, fan low speed Airfry - airfry element, top and bottom bars off, fan high speed. So it has four heat settings - the element selection knob should make this clear. The oven heats up very quickly, so no need to preheat. And it cooks really well too. Chips, sausages and so on only take 10 minutes. You can reduce cooking times to two thirds or even one half of the time specified on the packet or cookbook. All at 220C. I use it a lot, and I wouldn't now be without it.
