Green apple, then a bit of astringent grapefruit in the deeper level. Light leafy spice at the bottom. After 10 minutes or so, a flash of toffee. Those Japanese distillers know how to make smooth hooch! This libation starts out with a warm spicy pallet and continues with fruit and wood. No reall alcohol burn with a 43% ABV drink. I was amazed at how easy it goes down straight. No rocks. No water needed. Just enjoy the libation straight at room temperature. Long pallet of spice and fruits and a hint of wood. A most enjoyable dram ( or two or three!). This is a favorite of mine and my friends when enjoying a good smooth whisky. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

This is a great whisky for the price. This might replace my go to value scotch (JW double black). Heavier on the smoke and peat but not ardbeg levels. Very smooth with a sweet after taste. Burbon drinkers may not like the smokiness, honestly it may push away some highland scotch drinkers, but I cannot recommend this enough for Islay fans.
This whisky is designed for Japanese Highball cocktails and in that use it is very good. I would not recommend it for sipping unless you like a very light whisky/scotch. There are many recipes online, but it's basically a simple mix of whisky, club soda, ice, in a tall glass. I also add orange bitters and an orange twist but that's optional. Great on a warm day of if you want something different with a meal that you would normally have with a beer. These are very popular in Japan and all bars serve it there. So if you want to try something very Japanese but very approachable I highly recommend a Toki highball!

It’s like the difference between feeling the immediate torque from the crazy acceleration of a Tesla Plaid (1.98 seconds) with a top speed of 175 mph, as opposed to a McLaren F1 (0-60mph in 3.2 seconds) with a top speed of 241 mph. You get the immediate torque from a Tesla Plaid, but all that rush goes away in a few seconds. With a McLaren F1, torque is built up and is linear, so when fully up to speed, maximum torque and speed is achieved overtime, thus is enjoyed overtime. Similarly, you won’t feel the “sudden hit or rush” of alcohol and complexity of a JDM whisky all at once, but as time and speed goes by, you’ll really appreciate the complexity and smoothness. Hope this analogy helps.Ok, so let’s start analyzing the Suntory Toki.Nose:Sweet, floral, rose water, grape fruit, with slight oakiness.Taste:It’s very light to the mouth and tongue. Very smooth, but not the smoothest. When it first hits your tongue, it’s almost like sampling a hint of syrup or honey. As it lingers in your mouth, you start to get the complexity of the sweet and floral kind of taste, with a hint of hibiscus. Towards the end, syrup or honey dissipates and a hint of spice towards the end leaves with a finish of slight vanilla oaky taste.Mouthfeel:Easy to drink, very little burn. It’s smooth, and the finish makes you want more. The taste fades a bit quickly making you want that next sip, which can be dangerous lol.Finish:A slow creeper with oaky vanilla.Overall:For $25-$30 depending on the retailer, the Toki is my to-go Whisky. I usually like to drink my whisky neat. The Toki can be more appreciated as a highball. So, although I like to drink my whisky neat, I still believe that the Toki is better as a mixed drink or highball than drinking it neat. A lot of others or reviewers will say that the Toki is not recommended to be taken neat…I disagree because I believe that the Toki is better to drink neat when compared to a Jack Daniels or Crown Royal. The Toki does a great mixer or highball as it will compliment pretty much anything that’s carbonated (maybe not sprite or 7-up), but more so like coke, pepsi, or tonic water.Conclusion:Probably the mildest whiskey I've ever had, but is a great JDM whisky if you drink it daily. If you want more of a sophisticated JDM whisky and something that you’ll appreciate neat, go for names like Hibiki, Yamazaki, Nikka, Teitessa, Mars, etc. I’ve tried all these and you must appreciate all these neat; if not, you’ll be wasting your money as they are over a $100+. Also, if you prefer drinking neat and want that smokey, tobacco or tar flavor, the Toki is not for you. If you prefer smokey, tobacco, or tar flavor, try a JDM peated whisky. Peated l JDM whisky will give you that tobacco and tar flavor. With all this being said, although the Toki is better taken as a highball and although I prefer drinking whiskies neat, I’d rather much prefer drinking a Toki neat and spend a little more on the Toki, than drinking a Jack Daniels, Crown Royal, Wolcott, etc. But, as I always say, to each their own. Just like how some people have a daily driver (DD), some people will have their daily drink; for me, my daily driver is a Honda and my daily drink is the Toki. For special occasions, I will skip the Honda and opt for my Mercedes and skip the Toki and opt for a Hibiki.Giving the Toki 5 starts since of all other JDM whiskiesHope you all find this review helpful.

Bought this because I had heard so much about it in the past 2 years.Was not disappointed.Sweeter with a light after taste. Drink a small amount over ice and really savor the taste of this whiskey. It's owned by Jim Beam but it doesn't taste anything like Beam.

Got this as a gift.But this one has an especially weird cheap " vilaige bar palette " that is down right disappointing and lingering. Reminds me of my college nights.Don't expect a cool discovery tour - it's just a lower shelf blended whiskey. No story to tell.But it's clean. Like vodka.
