It’s one game. And it was a little more expensive than I wanted to pay but our kid played this at a friend’s house and really wanted it. I’m so glad we got it! It was so fun! Our entire family was addicted and played it over a holiday break. We unapologetically spent multiple hours a day playing this! The second player option is great for kids who arent that skilled with controllers as long as they dont mess with the camera angle. Or the second player is good for people with low skills that can handle not being the star and having smaller jobs. Some things are tricky so we did look up youtubes for tutorials on where to find some things or get bowser during a battle but it was fine. We had so much fun. Would love it if we could have picked our own mario world ... MoreIt’s one game. Would love it if we could have picked our own mario world character. But it’s cute he can find different things that change his outfit. Also this is great for cat lovers. Cats are a stong theme here. Great for all genders and identities. Great game to rediscover good times with Mario. Love the going in the sky option to play some old school Mario.

Super Mario 3D World is a classic Wii U title that is now on Nintendo Switch. For those who don’t own a Wii U or never played this Mario title, now’s your chance. This time with another adventure called Bowser’s Fury.Plot: Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad are out enjoying a nightly walk when they spotted a broken clear pipe. Mario and Luigi use their super plumbing and fixed it when they spot a bunch of items flying out and a pixie who is in peril. And like in Super Mario Bros. 2, (US version), each character has their own stats. Mario is all round, Luigi can jump higher, Toad can run faster and Peach can float for a brief moment. The power ups like the Fire flower, Super Leaf, starman and Boomermang flower return with two new power ups such as the Super Bell that transform Mario and the gang into cats which allows them to climb walls to hard to reach platforms, scratch and pounce enemies. Along the way, there are three green stars which will unlock new levels and the games’ progress. And stamps that you can decorate the levels or World map with via Snapchat mode. But, there is another new adventure called Bowser’s Fury. In this adventure, Mario embarks on a new world filed with islands and cats and Bowser Jr who is upset that his father Bowser has gone to powerful with darkness and it’s up to Mario to save him by collecting items called Cat Shines. Like Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy and Odyssey, you control Mario in an open filled world exploring new islands, find secret locations and collecting Cat Shines by solving puzzles or go through platforms. Also, Bower Jr. will help Mario by defeating enemies and paint secret drawings to reviel hidden pipes, helpful items and hidden Cat Shines. But, you can’t wander around too long, as when it rains, Bowser appears shooting fireballs and fire lasers at Mario. In order to stop showing up, you must find a Cat shine or grab the giant Cat Shrine bell that will transform Mario into a Super Sayan Fury Cat Mario and fight one on one with a Bowser in a Kaiju style battle. Find all the Car Shines and save Bowser Jr’s father and the Cat Island. As a Mario fan, this is a must have for your Switch if you never owned the game or owned a Wii U, 3D World has the original Mario formula with simple platforming, and power ups with new surprises. Bowser’s Fury is another great Mario adventure using the Mario 64 Collect-A-Thon trope with power ups that you can use anytime you want.Grab your cat suit and get your claws on this purrrrfect Mario game.I give Mario 3D World+ Bowser’s Fury a 10 out of 10

Super Mario 3D World is the sequel to the Nintendo 3DS's Super Mario 3D Land. However, where 3D Land used the handheld system's 3D capabilities to great effect, 3D World having no such function is a hinderance, perhaps becoming an annoyance for some. The biggest issue from this lack of 3D awareness is loss of perspective which can make some jumps slightly annoying at best, frustrating at worst. Coupled with an archaic 1-up system (Nintendo has outright advised players to perform a specific trick to farm a bunch of lives), this makes playing the game feel more like a slog than simple enjoyment at times. On the other hand, Bowser's Fury is a vast improvement, doing away with the level-based gameplay and locked-8-way movement from 3D World, to a more open-world ... Though if you are a fan of Mario Odyssey, don't expect it to play too much like it as the controls are still very much based on 3D World's. That aside, Bowser's Fury is a refreshing title, providing a fun couple of hours long adventure and adding another hour or two on top to collect everything. All in all though, I wouldn't say Bowser's Fury is must-play unless you're a huge Mario fan, and there are simply better Mario titles out there already.
This is a really good game, the type with good music that makes you stop and listen to the music. The boss' are good, having diversity with the levels. I really like when you're hitting a question block (coin block) and a little 8-bit luigi pops out (yes, I found that on my own, without youtube). I really enjoy the levels that make me stop and get more lives ( like world crown-crown, at least six times on world 1-2) Overall this game is great, has great easter eggs, adn green stars that make you look all over the level and question what you're doing with your life. AND you can change your character from Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach, AND (!spoiler alert!spoiler alert!) Rosalina. Each character has their own special, Mario being balanced, Luigi being jump height, Toad (my fave) being speed, and Peach's stats being a little less that mario, but being able to float. (Spoiler) Rosalina has a spin attack, hitting enemies in range, and providing a(n) extra jump if used mid-air. AND (I need to remember this stuff, whenever I say AND It's me going back and adding to this review) there are a lot of power-ups, including the cat-bell (also on mario maker 2) turning your character to a cat. The colors are: red for mario, green for luigi, blue for toad, pink for peach, and dark blue for Rosalina. The cat bell lets you climb walls, and use claw-slash attack (Wow, it's super effective!). There also is the racoon (tanooki-suit, but I call it the racoon suit) which lets you float, like peach, and lets you use the tail attack (Wow, again, it's super effective!). Next is the double-cherry, which lets you add one more mario (your character) to your total (I think you can have a max of... 6?). Next is the Giant Mushroom. It grows your character into a giant for a small amount of time. There are the fire flower and boomerang flower, one lets you throw boomerangs, and the other lets you throw fire. There are a lot more, but first, there's the super bell, turns you into the cat bell, but when you ground-pound you turn into a golden cat statue and start getting coins. Oops, I forgot about the mushroom, and 1-up mushroom. I shouldn't have to explain. I will stop there, there is A LOT more stuff in this game, lots of power-ups that I didn't say. ALSO there are 12 worlds, the first 8, then you go into space for the next three, then you go to world crown, containing the single-most hardest level in the game.
Review:Super Mario 3D World, once stuck on the Wii U, is now on the Nintendo Switch. All these years later and it's still an amazing game. The music is amazing and platforming just feels good to do. In the Switch version, there is the addition of a new mode: Bowser's Fury. It's like a giant open ended level with your objective being to collect items called Cat Shines. I have now gone over the positives so it's time for criticism. Bowser's Fury is really short. It only takes a few hours to do everything the mode has to offer. The main game, 3D World, has no additional content/changes outside of a few quality of life (an example being that characters are faster than in the Wii U version). It's not enough to hinder gameplay too much, but it's something to not._____Do I recommend this game?:Played it on Wii U? - Wait for a sale.Never played? - I 100% recommend this game. Have fun._____Extra Note:The main game allows up to 4 players to play at the same time. Bowser's Fury allows up to 2 players to play (one playing Mario while the other plays Bowser Jr.). All Bowser Jr. can do is attack enemies, paint certain areas, and collect coins.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a Nintendo Switch port of the Wii U version from 2013, and judging from my 10 hours with the game, the visuals, audio, controls, and the additional content make this another resonating Mario experience. The visuals look crisp and vibrant--both on the tabletop and docked version. The soundtrack is catchy with a jazz-esque tune across most of the tracks, and it coincides appropriately with the characters, levels, and action. The controls are easy to understand, and with the Nintendo Switch system, there are multiple ways for players to play. There are fun power-ups like Double Cherry and Cat Suit, which can duplicate the playable characters or access abilities like climbing obstacles or pouncing enemies, and the gameplay itself is fluid and bouncy enough to feel like interacting with a high-quality animated movie.Multiplayer features further enhances the game's playability as it allows up to three more players to play simultaneously; players can play as iconic characters, such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad, as well as Rosalina, who is unlockable. Being able to play this game on-the-go thanks to the Nintendo Switch is also a great detail; this would be a great game for family vacations or visiting family or a friends house. Multiplayer is also included in the Treasure Tracker Toad levels, which is a neat detail.Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a creative, colorful, and endearing video game with simple controls, bouncy gameplay, a catchy soundtrack, and interactive multiplayer system, and this game has a high playability that can last for years. While I am aware of the online multiplayer and Bowser's Fury additional content components, I have not yet reviewed them.
So, it's absolutely awesome they finally re-released this game AND brought new content to it which is great! But it's a old game that should be like $20 by now as it's from the Wii U era. The extra content is about a expansion pack title worth about $20 of extra content. Realistically this title should be $40. MAYYYBE $50 tops but a full priced game feels very "Nintendo" of this.Non the less, this is a great title and highly recommended. Maybe grab on sale? Black friday? Very worth it for the Co-Op factor. Excellent sit down family game. Could not recommend enough for that!
Just some context, I have played the original Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. It ran 30fps and it had multiplayer, but no online multiplayer. Sure, it can get a little hectic when playing with 4 players altogether, but it was still a fun game to play. There was a minor nitpick I had with the game and that is if you missed collecting a green star and wanted to collect all 3 green stars in one go, you can't restart the level. In order to redo the level, you would have to exist the level and then it takes you back to the overworld map and then you re-enter the same level. When you complete a level, an auto-save feature takes a bit of time to load before letting you progress. The Wii U version:- framerate was 30fps- local co-op multiplayer (up to 4 players)- no ... So, when I learned that they've added online multiplayer, I was very excited!I played the game with a friend online to see how well the connection was. For the most part, throughout the game, it's actually pretty good. But there are certain points in the game where the connection starts to lag and cause the game to slow down a bit, which did affect the gameplay. Both me and my friend have good internet connections. It's Nintendo's online service that has issues. Other then that, we had a great time playing together.- Bowser's Fury -Bowser's Fury was a great addition to 3D World! It was a lot a fun to play. It's feels like an open world sandbox level from Super Mario Odyssey. You enter into a Cat-themed world. You play as Mario and you team up with Bowser Jr. to help get Bowser back to normal since he's covered in black sludge and is super angry and wants to destroy everything. There is local co-op for Bowser's Fury. Your friend can play as Bowser Jr. to help you out in the game. If you're playing this by yourself, the game gives you the option on how much you want Bowser Jr. to help you in Bowser's Fury. Bowser Jr.'s role is to help you find items and defeat enemies. You can have Bowser Jr. help a lot, or less, or not at all. Which is a nice feature to give to the players if they choose to need help or not. Unfortunately, for Bowser's Fury, there's only local co-op. Only 3D World main game has the online multiplayer. In Bowser's Fury, your goal is to collect Cat Shines, which are these collectibles to help remove black sludge from the lighthouses and the Giga Cat Bell. Every now and then, Fury Bowser will show up and try to harm you, but if you collect a Cat Shine, it adds light to the lighthouse and repels Fury Bowser back into the black water. There are certain points where you fight Fury Bowser. When you free the Giga Cat Bell from the black sludge, Mario can use it to become Giga Cat Mario. Or as I would like to call him, Super Saiyan Lion Mario. It's a really cool fight between Giga Cat Mario and Fury Bowser.Overall, the improvements to 3D World were good and adding a brand new adventure added more value to this game.I would recommend playing this with friends and family.
I originally bought Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U and thoroughly enjoyed it. In this updated version the main game plays the same, albeit with some tweaks such as faster character movement. Online play is the most notable addition, however I have not been able to try that yet (online requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, which I don't have). My main reason for picking this up again was to play the Bowser's Fury mode. This is an entirely new and separate game mode that has you control Mario in a huge sandbox environment where you collect shines to ward of a giant enraged Bowser that surfaces every so often. This mode was a breath of fresh air and a lot of fun, easily providing 5-10 hours of gameplay on its own. It's pretty great for essentially "bonus" ... It's pretty great for essentially "bonus" content, and thankfully it ends before it gets tiresome. If you've never played Super Mario 3D World before, this is a no-brainer purchase. If you have played it before, consider whether the online play or Bowser's Fury mode is worth a purchase for you, or maybe wait for a sale.
