To be perfectly honest, I have never played this game. I watched videos on YouTube and decided to purchase for my 12-year-old son along with the Switch console. I am usually a very meticulous buyer, but this time I made a slight mistake. Whilst looking for the cheapest price, I purchased the UK version. This was completely my error. I was dismayed at first, but then became excited that I had an import!!! So, if you are an American who purchased by mistake and are having buyer's remorse.......DON'T! This is no different from the North American release. Do you speak English? Yup, methinks you are good to go then. Now, I haven't opened the game yet, but I think my rating will stand unless there is no game inside. lol Not kidding! Also..I researched DLC info for you. It ... It seems numerous people have bought games from different regions and were still able to purchase DLCs from their regions without any problems. The Switch seems to care more about your System language than a specific region that speaks said language. Example.....buy the Japanese version of this game. Since it supportsw English, and your System language is English too......you can download any future DLC from any English speaking region. Oh yeah......game came in two days, mint condition, etc. Again...I just need to open it. If there's no game...i'll be cranky. lol

AMAZING. We got this game for my 6 year old son as he’d watched people playing it on YouTube. This has got to be one of the best Mario games ever. The game just goes on and on! Really get value for money, he got it for Christmas and 7 months later he is still collecting moons! Other games he has played he finishes fairly soon. Some moons are hard to get but he has managed to get really hard ones all by himself. I’m super impressed with the game.

Fun and engaging game that is fun for all ages. Mario games are classic and this one is no exception. Odyssey is one of the better ones in the series and worth picking up. The gameplay makes use of the joy cons for the switch and there is even a function for two player where one controls Mario and the other controls his hat. The two player function is great to play with inexperienced games suck as kids or significant other that doesn’t game. All around great game that almost everyone will enjoy.

What an amazing quality the graphics are so amazing the game play experience is out of this world I play this with my daughter always lots of fun and very good mental stimulation, each kingdom offers so many adventures! The controls are very responsive and intuitive. The story line is very imaginative and detailed. Can be played over and over again never get bored of this game. Also great quality sound track 5* Highly recommended we never get bored of the Mario Odyssey.
I had so much fun with game! The kingdoms are beautiful and fun to explore. My favorite was easily Metro Kingdom! I spent hours exploring it and funny enough next to finding all the hidden T Rex's my 3 year old adores the city scape. I still haven't gotten every moon and for the life of me I can't seem to beat the final area but it was still well worth the money. My other favorite Mario game is Mario Sunshine. I feel like if you enjoyed Sunshine you will enjoy this.
Mario Odyssey is bringing exactly what you'd expect from a Mario game, for better or for worse. The graphics are supported through a variety of kingdoms that touch upon the usual themes of lava, forest and snow to provide a diverse if predictable experience. The graphics aren't exactly pushing the Switch to the limit but having a variety of costumes is a nice touch but mostly fundamental and useless. The story doesn't warrant much discussion, and there's a question if a different or deeper story would actually be a hindrance to the game. I'm inclined to lean towards the latter, as we come to these Mario games for platforming and that's exactly what this game brings. The gameplay is where things are most interesting. I'm inclined to lean towards the latter, as we come to these Mario games for platforming and that's exactly what this game brings. The gameplay is where things are most interesting. The addition of the hat mechanic may seem innovative but as far back as Mario 64 we have had caps that provides powers such as flight and invisibility. Add to this that decades-old Kirby games involved swallowing opponents to acquire their abilities temporarily and the shiny facade of Mario Odyssey is just that, a facade.Don't get me wrong - Mario Odyssey is good, but it's also quite formulaic if you've played one or two Mario games since 1995. The game didn't feel terribly long, but again I was ready for the end credits by the time they rolled. Also interesting is that Mario is based upon the same concepts of open-world collect-athons that we criticise the likes of Assassin's Creed for, yet we lap it up when it comes to Mario. One final thing that really irked me was coming to Peach's castle at the end of the game and being given a taste of a remade Mario 64 only for it to be extremely cursory. We've been crying out for this remake yet Nintendo have done the opposite - released the original again and then took it away from us!Overall, Mario Odyssey will scratch that Mario itch, but it will not blow you away or make you think you have been missing out if you've not played Mario in a while.
Possibly one of the best 3D Mario games ever made for fans old or young. The Cappy capture feature is innovative despite only working on certain hatless enemies, the environments are varried, and range from realistic, to strange, and quirky. The game is surprisingly more cinematic, with more story scenes, (and occasionally some unexpected twists) between levels, which is a great, and doesn't overdo the game with too much dialogue like some RPGs do.The game is full of nods to classic Mario, (especially the outfits) without feeling too focused on nostalgia. The enemy, and boss battles are well designed, and epic. (Especially, the final boss.) I won't spoil anything, but one boss is very unexpected for a Mario game.If you have Amiibo, you can unlock certain outfits ... The enemy, and boss battles are well designed, and epic. (Especially, the final boss.) I won't spoil anything, but one boss is very unexpected for a Mario game.If you have Amiibo, you can unlock certain outfits with them, (like the Dr. Mario Amiibo gives you a doctor's outfit, and the normal Mario gives you Mario's classic red overalls from the original SMB) but don't fret, as all Amiibo content are unlockable without them. One slight criticism is, there are a few abilities you can only use when using the motion controls of the detached JoyCon controllers, (such as throwing your hat straight up, or homing attacking enemies) but they aren't necessary to enjoy. And having loved the Galaxy games, sometimes the motion controls are fun for those that liked them back then, but you can use only buttons too if you want.Another minor annoyance is, many of the post-ending unlockable costumes, require too many gold coins to unlock. (That's in-game collectable currency coins. Thank God there are no microtransactions.) But there are ways to grind for gold coins like any game. The multiplayer option is nice, and you can either have 2 players both take turns controlling Mario, or have a second player fully play as Mario's new sidekick Cappy. I had alot of fun playing the game with my nephew.I highly recommend the game for any Mario fan, definitely among the top Switch games, every Switch owner or Mario fan must play.
This game was a joy to play from start to finish. A tremendous celebration of Mario throughout the years, paying homage and taking strides into a bright future for the 3D line of the franchise. Simple and easy enough for the very young and inexperienced, but complex and mature enough for us seasoned players to enjoy as many hours as we want. Made my son jump with excitement, and made me smile like a 10yr old boy again, reminded of the many reasons we love this franchise. Can’t recommend this enough; a must have for the Nintendo Switch.
