Core Alpha Stealth is a tough, reliable, compact little watch with great features (altimeter, barometer, compass, temperature, sunset/sunrise times, 30m water resistance etc.). Features are accessible via a very simple user interface.I had zero condensation or moisture issues with the watch despite the submersion and spray from water.I can recommend it to anyone interested in a good, robust uncomplicated outdoor watch.

A huge disappointment from a great company. The altimeter on this watch was wildly inaccurate. Kept resetting an known altitudes, and still after a days climb in stable weather it would be off by 500 meters! I can navigate better without it!

I used to have the old Suunto Core with gray screen and black digits. It was great, never had problems reading the information on the screen. Bought Core Alpha for a long battery life. But the negative display is very difficult to read, unless I am in a bright sun, because the characters are medium shade of gray. I have normal vision, but reading even the middle row (the large digits) is problematic. The additional rows (small characters) can only be read in a bright light. The red highlight (as shown on the product photo) is also very dim, could barely read the time at night and not the 1st and 3rd rows. I played with the "contrast" (cannot change brightness, only contrast) to no avail. Unfortunately, had to return.

I bought the Suunto Core Stealth (used and in excellent condition) and its living up to the hype. Also, its comfortable for all day use. It came with instructions and was easy to set up. Most of the negative comments have been that it is hard to read the screen. The brightness can be adjusted (there is a great tutorial on YouTube) and word "stealth" is in the name for a reason. Otherwise just get the Core.
Initially, I bought a Suunto Core All Black in 2019. It lasted about 2 years until I had an issue and sent it back for repair which was quoted at about 75% of the cost of the watch when I had bought it. I decided to just buy a new watch, this Suunto Core Alpha. I appreciate the red backlight. I haven't tested it under NVGs but I'll edit my review when I do. The black strap is more comfortable than the rubber one that comes with other Core watches. The altimeter is pretty accurate +/- 70 ft. I enjoy all the features of this watch. I didn't want a GPS watch and this watch covers all the features you could want outside of a GPS. I'm hopeful that this one lasts longer than the last one.NOTE: If you find yourself having strange functions with the watch, it's typically ... MoreInitially, I bought a Suunto Core All Black in 2019. I found myself changing the battery "roughly" every 10 months.
I had wanted a switch from being tied to my smart watch and had my eye on the Core Alpha Traverse for sometime. I found out that model was discontinued, so I opt'ed for the Alpha Stealth version thinking it was some what lacking features I desired. I was wrong! Exceptional watch! Accuracy is high and the features are great. Easy to read in both high light and low light conditions. Compass is a breeze to use as is the barometer- the storm warning works very well too! I laugh now when considering another Gshock, this watch is tough! If you're considering a Suunto, I would highly recommend picking this watch up as an edc.
This was probably too hardcore for me to spend $300 on, but I did (I have the ALL black one). I've had mine for about 3.5 years now and it's still going strong. When I have used all the special features on it, everything has always worked pretty well. I have embarrassingly scrawny wrists for a guy and this looks a little big on me but not too ridiculous. The altimeter seems to be pretty accurate (almost always within 100 ft) once it's calibrated but after a few days of back and forth between barometer, it's ready for another calibration. Yeah, the light is not very bright if that's a concern. Battery needs to be replaced probably a little over once a year (think I've replace mine 3 times since the original battery). It is a piece of cake though and probably costs $4 ... MoreThis was probably too hardcore for me to spend $300 on, but I did (I have the ALL black one). The thermometer definitely needs to be off your wrist to trust it (takes about 10 minutes to reach final temperature off your wrist) but it is nice to have the option.... Peace!
Ive had this watch for about 6 months now and have tested it out several times in real wilderness tests. I'm an avid backpacker and remote wilderness enthusiast (not sure thats even a real thing). Anyways, I've had a casio pathfinder (now Protrek) since 1997, and have really come to rely on the functions the ABC watches had to offer. my first experience with something other than a casio was this watch, the Suunto Core. I have to say, its a very superior piece of equipment. It is by far more accurate. of course it doesn't have solar power or atomic timekeeping, but I always felt that was a gimmick anyways. The Suunto says its only water resistant to 30 meters but that's about 28 meters deeper than I'll ever go. No issues so far with the water resistance.I traded ... MoreIve had this watch for about 6 months now and have tested it out several times in real wilderness tests. No issues so far with the water resistance.I traded the rubber strap for a maratac zulu and it really gave the watch a hard core tactical look to it.I like almost everything about this watch, but it wouldn't be an honest review if I didn't mention the couple things I don't like. First, the paint on the bezel is wearing off. My watch is 6 months old but looks like its 6 years old and survived a couple tours in a war zone. Still looks badazz. Second, only one alarm. My Protrek had 5 alarms and a snooze.Aside from that. I can't be happier with this watch. Haven't had to change the battery yet or had any problems with the buttons sticking like many other reviewers have stated. I can definitely see how that could ruin my opinion of the watch. But until that happens, i will keep promoting this product.
Solid watch but complicated, because the reason I logged on was to go to the website and get directions on how to change the time. So maybe on me for not knowing my watch. The documentation that comes with the watch is not the best, but it’s in every language. The numbers are hard to see but they won’t give away your position either. Overall, yes I would buy this watch again and recommend to my friends.
I got the all-black model and the first thing one notices is the sleek design of the watch. It's simply a rugged beauty! It has a straight-forward navigation of its capabilities through a simple menu system that is quickly learned. This Core watch displays only needed information and doesn't crowd and confuse like other technical watches might from Casio. The altimeter and barometer will give close-enough data that warns of approaching storms and can be used to dial in your scope more accurately for long range shooting in unknown environments. The plastic in many cases is a better material than even titanium, giving rigidity and lightweight, as well as a significant cost reduction. The compass is amazingly accurate and is a stand-out feature for me. So what are you ... MoreI got the all-black model and the first thing one notices is the sleek design of the watch.
