I bought this watch before going on a Glacier trip in Alaska. I've had this watch for 5 months now, and here are the pros and cons:Pros: Excellent battery life, lower profile, looks great, more sports and activities to log than you can ever learn, great fitness tracker with useful training metrics, and useful coaching functions.Cons: Clunky user interface (lags), heart rate sensor is a hit or miss (inaccurate readings while working out), can't easily trim workouts if you forget to turn off tracker.recommendations: buy an external heart rate sensor to pair. I bought the polar H10 and it works great.

I reviewed this product before purchase. Review was awesome. Despite long battery life, you need to move screens each moment to get info. such as date and day, steps. The face cover is boring. The app is not user friendly. Returning this product!

I’m an Open water swimmer, and I rely heavily on a strong reliable GPS signal for keeping track of my swimming and how I perform in races. This watch is by far the worst for GPS Suunto has ever put out. The signal is so unreliable, it will stop working mid swim and be missing a good portion of my swim. It is pure garbage

It was this of a garmin 965 forerunner. The garmin maps are better, and there is the possibilty of loading custom maos in garmin format. But my main reasons for selecting suunto vertical were 1) sapphire face (i travel in rough areas); 2) simple os; 3) readability of map when not wearing readers. I don't need all the type A exercise stuff, but i do want to be able to upload tracks for guidance. Main dusappointments are sluggishness in map oage, and inabilith to zoom out more than a mile (face diameter) to see context. The contours are similar to usgs 100k maps, not great; with some garmins you can load 24k maps.
The watch was a decent watch. Screen was bright and easy to read. Had an issue with it connecting to my phone but Moosejaw took care of it. Main issue I had with the watch was it didn’t take accurate heart rate readings while working out.
Great looking, Good adventure watch. It can help me to navigation via the hiking trip pretty accurately via the multi band GPS. also, super into the strap design & comfort from the watch. the industrial design of the watch also stands out a lot. However, I feel the watch heart rate related functions is a draw back if you have plans for accurate readings for your trainings, sleep, etc.All in all, this is a great watch if heart rate is not that important to you.
I have owned the watch for 3 weeks now, I have used it just about every day to log activities.It has outstanding battery life, I still haven’t charged it up.Comparable to Garmin Fenix 7x, (was using that previously) but not as rugged in design or use intention. GPS tracking is slightly better with Garmin but the Vertical is still very accurate.Suitable for someone who wants a blend of fitness tracking and outdoor applications.Lightweight, comfortable and looks sleek.Pro’s - Insane Battery Life (best among any GPS/Functional watch out there), Offline Maps, Fitness tracking and synchronizing with Suunto App, Ease of Use and FunctionalityCon’s - Heart Rate Monitoring is spotty during sweaty workouts. Watch faces are kind of bland
