I recently bought the 45580WL and I am pretty happy with it so far but have found a few flaws that I think could be fixed with updates. 1. The PIR sensors are a bit laggy when they activate the night led light for the colour vision. It takes around 2 seconds before the lights are activated when the PIR activates at night which means any car driving past or person on a bike will not show what colour the cars/bikes as they have already pass and out of view. Could be a deal breaker if vision is needed for the police. 2. When using the main hard-drive to view on a tv or monitor you do not have the same functions as the app does, mainly the alarm feature. Running your own wiring is tough if its not something you are comfortable doing. Setting up the DVR is a nightmare with the swann tech support page being no use and their customer support number not an option unless you have a full day to wait on hold. Not all the features are available through the app such as 2 way voice communication. Cannot stream footage unless you are connected to the same wifi network. Good luck finding that 30 second clip of a thief as you will need to look through the whole recording since the motion detection is either too sensitive or completely blind. I had a friend buy wireless cameras from a well known maker for virtually the same price that operate much better. 10/10 would not reccomend

Easy process from beginning to end. Ordering was easy, shipping fast, setup is unbelievably easy, features are great. Ordered it for my office, I am going to order another to replace the Ring system at my house. This Swann system does not glitch and the features are phenomenal.

This camera package is amazing. Let’s start with if you have ever needed to check on your house or worried what is going on while your gone then this is for you. This comes with 4 cameras but I have only hooked up 2 so far. Using these 2 cameras I can get complete coverage of both doors and all of the common areas in my apartment. These will allow you to leave with the comfort of being able to see what is going on while your not there or even just keeping an eye on your pets. Set up was fairly simple following the directions. Mounting the cameras was simple using drywall anchors to mount to the wall. The video quality on these cameras is extremely good and the ability to look back is a plus thanks to the dvr. I've owned this system for 2 years now and there have been no problems. The resolution is top notch (just remember to get the full effect of 4k you have to have a 4k monitor). If you take the time to get to know the settings, you can get the best out of this DVR or...set it an forget it. My only gripe with Swann is the PC playback program, it's out dated and needs to be revamped with better features. The app works just fine as long as your internet service and modem are up to date. Overall, the quality is decent and customer service is top notch...
I ordered a wireless system from a Lorex with frequency hopping cameras. It did not get along with my DSL modem/router so I sent it back and ordered this system. Best decision ever. The hardest part was routing the cables through the attic to my man cave. After that the rest was easy. The cameras display 4K on the screen all the time. I set it up to record 720P. That gives me about 3 weeks of data on the HDD.Getting comfortable with the operating system takes a little bit of practice. But in less than a week I am quite taken with its capability. I record 24/7 and use the smart search feature to quickly browse the daily activities. My unit was the 8ch and came with 4 cameras and 2tb hard drive. I bought the system over a year ago with plans to set it up at my other property .. and only just now took it out of the box to set it up at my home. Out of warranty .... of course!! The ch 1 input on the DVR was dead right out of box. But, I have 4 cameras and 7 other channels .... so, the failure of the ch 1 input wasn't critical. Setup was simple enough and as a retired electrician ... running the cabling was not very challenging. Though all the cameras work during the daylight. One has minor pixelated video. Only one camera functions at night with IR function (works well). The other 3 cameras do not have the IR and do not work at night. My understanding is that Swann's client service is abysmal ... so no point contacting them (out of warranty.. anyway). Buy a Swann security camera system at your own risk.
This is my second Swann system, I still have a wireless system that is working fine after 4 years but wanted a wired system to eliminate latency and the occasional wireless disconnect. My advice: Always get a wired system, Yes it's more work to install but worth it in the end. This system has an easy software that is very intuitive. Based on my other system which has never failed after four years, I am assuming it's reliable too. Picture quality is good, detection will take some tweaking depending on your situation. Overall for the price its an excellent choice.

The cables included were more than adequate in length to connect the cameras. The 1080p cameras are so much better than my old 720p. The picture is significantly clearer and more crisp on both my monitor and through the app on my phone. I particularly like receiving alerts on my phone while I'm away as I can see when packages have been delivered and see if I've missed any surprise visits. Night vision works well on this system. We mostly get an occasional raccoon walk across the yard but we've been able to see some deer here lately as well. The motion activated lighting is nice to have when we leave the outdoor lights off. This Swann system is not a good value at all. Any glare at all will darken the picture to the point of being unviewable. Mine happened to be from the sun's reflection off a car. Why isn't there a computer app as well as the useless phone apps? The dvr software interface is not really user friendly. Night vision is at best maybe 10 feet. When you use the light deterrent setting it washes out any usable footage. This system should come with 2 way audio at this price. This is a mediocre system. Try a ReoLink instead because at least their prices are more in line with the quality. I am very disappointed with Swann.
